The space was just what we needed. The quiet atmosphere was great with the outdoor seating and the view of the pond. The restaurants around the area were the best we have ever experienced, especially the Famous Toastery ast Keagy Village.

We have stayed at the cottage several times. When we have plans to visit the area, we always check to see if Evelyn's cottage is available first. It is so relaxing, convenient location, and has everything you need for a home away stay. Evelyn is extremely responsive whenever questions arise. The home is always clean and the nature surrounding the home outside is always a joy to see. Thank you for another wonderful stay.

This cottage setting is absolutely gorgeous. The lake and fountain are beautiful. Evelyn is an amazing and responsive host. The place was everything we could ask for. We stayed for almost 2 weeks while moving our daughter to the area for graduate school . The kitchen is well equipped. The beds are very comfortable. The showers are great. We will definitely be back when we come to visit her. Thank you for an amazing stay. I highly recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Beautiful Lake Cottage for a week and everything we could have needed was available including a well stocked kitchen and extra sheets and towels. Evelyn even provided snacks and a bottle of wine! All the information necessary was communicated by Evelyn before we arrived (finding the road to the cottage is a bit tricky ). We loved the view of the lake with the soothing fountain and the water lilies. We would definitely stay at the cottage on a return visit to Salem.

We needed a place that we could meet up with dear friends for a long weekend. Our visit to Roanoke was wonderful. The description of the cottage is as described. It’s truly private and in a quiet neighborhood. The pond was beautiful. The water lilies were a sight to see. We saw 5 deer and a ground hog several times. The kitchen is well equipped to make a meal. The bed linens and towels r hotel quality. Also, the place is located just outside the city limits. The host responded quick to my text.

Lovely stay

My family and I had a lovely stay at Evelyn's cottage. The property is beautiful, we even saw some deer one morning. We will definitely stay again when we are in town visiting our in-laws.

Evelyn was a fantastic host! She provided excellent communication and even accepted an Amazon order or 2 from us. :) Quick to respond to various questions before and during our stay.The reason for the lower ratings is because the unit should definitely have a deep clean and an update. Many of the mini blinds did not work. The edges of the floors, especially in the bathrooms were quite dirty. Coffee maker was dirty. The main rug on the floor was worn terribly and the bath mats were dirty and worn out and should be thrown away. The house itself is quirky. Uneven floors and odd steps. That being said, it is a good plan for two couples or older children. The "master" downstairs was a disappointment. The bed was incredibly loud and squeaky, even when you sat on the side. The box spring MUST be replaced. The closet was completely unusable as old blankets and a bed were stored inside (and some items thrown on the floor). It is not as pictured in the listing photos. The kitchen area needs new glasses and cleaning out completely. The only sponge provided was old/used.All 3 of the "splits" (A/C and heating units) need to be serviced or replaced. They are incredibly noisy and could not be left on as the noise was horrible.All TVs were good and it was great having YouTube TV already installed and working well. If the unit receives a much needed deep clean and update, I would recommend, as the location was excellent and having two separate bedroom suites is a plus.
