Wonderful experience! We had deer in the yard, a large variety of birds in the yard (this is on the edge of the Mount Eldin Bird Sanctuary), and somemores on the firepit. It was close to lots of hiking trails and everything in Flagstaff.

Everything about our stay was excellent. The host was very responsive before our stay began and continued to be responsive throughout our visit. We had several minor questions during our two weeks there, and received replies almost immediately. The cabin was very clean and nicely decorated, and it had all the little things we needed for a comfortable two-week stay. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom, and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals, including pots and pans, utensils, and glasses.Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this cabin and would highly recommend it for both short- and longer-term stays.

This quaint little cabin was a perfect stay for our family of 5. It is a very scenic 1 hr drive to Sedona but away from the business of it. Everything was perfect and we could not ask for anything better. I would definitely recommend

About the host

Hosted by Stefanie Marquardt

Host profile image
Andrew has lived in Flagstaff since 1989 and owns his own business. Stefanie has lived in Flagstaff her whole life and is a 5th grade teacher at a nearby school. Andrew and Stefanie have enjoyed raising their 3 children in Flagstaff, they have 2 sons, a daughter, and one grandchild. The family loves many outdoor activities from running, hiking and climbing to skiing and fishing. If you need any help with recreation they are glad to help.

Why they chose this property

This property is in town yet feels like it is in the middle of the forest. The house was built in 1938 by missionaries and was later purchased by a Flagstaff cabinet maker Stuart Houston, hence the Houston House. Andrew and Stefanie bought the house in 2007 and restored it. The wood floors are the original hard wood floors.

What makes this property unique

The house is air conditioned and has plenty of space for a family of six. The yard sits on an acre in town. It is close to lots of recreation in town and you do not have to drive way out of town to feel like you are in the forest.
