Great location. Just needs some fixing, the wooden floor outside the bathroom has a hole in it. Otherwise it was good.

Loved our stay. It was close to everything and in a super quiet area. Our host was helpful and easy to get ahold of for anything we needed! I can’t wait to stay here for our next trip!!
We had a fantastic stay at this lovely house in Venice Beach! The home was well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable getaway. The location was perfect and the beds very comfy. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we truly enjoyed our time there. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to experience the best of Venice Beach!
The Historic House is a wonderful, comfortable property very close to downtown Venice, beaches and bike trails. The property manager, Bishop, has provided all the essentials for a carefree vacation. His instructions for checking in were clear and timely. Bishop made us feel welcome and we would certainly stay here again.
My family and I took a 5 day vacation to Venice Florida. My first inpression when I booked online was how this little home was priced so great being down road from the beach! A 5 min drive if that. Anytime I had a question the host would respond quickly and directions were straight forward and easy to follow. The home had everything we needed. This home is old, a piece of history. It has character and charm and I would stay here many times if availble. Venice is a safe family orineted town and your lucky if you find this place!
No complaints at all. We were very pleased with our stay. We were lacking nothing. I will definitely use VRBO in the future. Thank you for making the arrangement so easy and our stay relaxing..
Very clean but old and cute. The door stuck so at first we thought we were locked out after entering the code but got in. Then we had an issue with tiny ants by the kitchen sink. The refrigerator was not working. It would not keep anything cold. Other than the old smell it was fine.
This cute little house was a perfect home base for our 10 day stay in Venice. It was immaculate and in a very convenient and quiet location. It had comfortable bed, great shower, good washer and dryer and TVs and every amenity we needed. Kitchen was very well equipped. Host was very responsive and kindly permitted an early check in. Highly recommend.

Not as expected
First off, the pictures are not at all what the property looks like. The musty and mildew smell is still lingering on all of my washed clothing. Our pet we brought kept finding dead roaches under the beds and there were lots of dust bunnies behind the doors and under beds as well. There is also a hole in the wood flooring I continually stepped in and stubbed my toes on. If you plan to stay here make sure to bring your own toilet paper and paper towels. There was a tiny portion of toilet paper left for the duration of 3 nights. Overall, would not stay again!

It was ok, but probably won't use again.
The house is cute. The pictures online match. The A/C was on and comfortable. Some problems we had are an ant problem in the kitchen and another type of bug in the bedrooms.
My friend had them in her bed and I had them on the lampshade in my room. I didn't run out screaming because they seemed harmless and didnt move the whole time we were there. The ants were contained to the kitchen and also harmless.
The home is old and smells like it. The original floor by the bedrooms and bathroom is splintering so we had to be very careful not step there barefooted.
The last few things to mention are the common area TV not working and no towels, bathmat, or washcloths at arrival. We looked around and I texted the number for the host, but we didn't hear back and we didnt find them in the home. We ended up buying our own at the closest Walmart. On night 2 we found the little closet with the towels thankfully. On day 3 we were startled by someone trying to open the door with the code, but thankfully it didnt work. I yelled at the person that the home was occupied and they yelled that this was there rental. I told them they need to contact the person they are renting from because this house isn't it. Turns out this home has rentals immediately behind it. And I mean immediately behind it. I didn't like the proximity the home is to multiple other rental properties as I was looking for a more residential experience. Last thing was the window in my bedroom wouldn't lock.
The host/ property manager is poorly equipped with the skills necessary to perform the job. During our 9-night stay, we exchanged several texts and calls over 6 of the days, however, she never ONCE offered to stop by to offer assistance. In fact, her attitude came across as someone who was annoyed that we were bothering her.
Most troublesome was the electronic lock on the door that malfunctioned many times, causing delays when we were going out. The unit worked sporadically so we never knew when we were going to have an issue. The first time it malfunctioned, it took the host over 3 hours to text us back. Some other comments from the host concerning the lockbox were along the lines of:
“why did you wait until now to call”
“the unit has rechargeable batteries and there’s a recharger SOMEWHERE in the house”
(In fact, the batteries were not rechargeable and we never saw a recharging unit.)
“I am at work now and cannot get to the house” – when asked what time she could make it, she said “I can’t give you a time.” Eventually, she said it would be at least 2 hours.
I asked if there was a physical key for either door to the property, and the host replied “there are no keys for the house.” Oddly, there’s a contractor’s lockbox on the door rail which we thought may contain keys; otherwise, why is that lockbox on the door rail?
We left at 9:36 a.m. on Sat 12/09/2023 and informed the property manager once again that the lockbox was not working - no reply from the mgr.
I've owned a small business in Venice for years. Fell in love with the city and now own multiple airbnb properties. Venice is my favorite city to visit in Florida. We take pride in our properties and are continually updating them.
Why they chose this property
This property was built in 1926. Still has many of the features of a 1926 Florida home. House is very private, cozy, and in a phenomenal location. Half mile from Venice Island and a mile from Venice Beach.
