Shallow water shoreline - bring your fishing poles, canoe, or kayak! A public boat launch is just a few miles down the road too. Explore historic Port Royal, Virginia. Enjoy nature walks and keep an eye out for some of the resident animals – this area is a sanctuary for bald eagles! Yummy eats at the last of the original Horne’s diners, and a number of other local restaurants nearby.

Enjoy the tranquility of the Rappahannock River and the quiet of nature. Relax in the Adirondack chairs and watch the river go by. Bring binoculars for bird-watching from the large patio or down by the water on the new deck. Experience amazing sunrises, or watch the sunset bounce off the water in the evenings. We had a really nice time here for our anniversary. It is true waterfront property with a proper set-up. It's own peer, a small sandy beach, a couple 1-man kayaks, a 2-seated paddle boat, chairs, a firepit, and plenty of firewood. Recommend1

Pleasing driftwood displays, cute and practical cottage & TV/rec room (crabshack). Super river view! Enjoyed the kayak experience though the descent to the water was doable for me but more than my wife’s bum knee could take. She was happy at the patio overlook & crabshack. We enjoyed the weekend getaway 9/5-9/7 and want to return, especially if can catch a pleasant snowfall.

We had a wonderful stay!

We sought a relaxing getaway and found ourselves in an extremely picturesque environment. While the weather cooperated beautifully for us the entire stay, the ease of working with the host and their gracious gifts of hospitality and privacy rounded out a very special experience. The cottage is self-contained and small but intimate and perfect for a twosome. I can highly recommend this property and these hosts!

Peaceful getaway

After a hectic schedule, it was wonderful to retreat to this peaceful property right on the river. We enjoyed going down to the river, sitting or watching TV in the A/C in the Crab Shack, and exploring the restaurants and shops in nearby Port Royal.
