We loved our stay at the cottage! Beach was beautiful there caught lots of fish from the shore! We were provided a paddle board and canoe to use also! The cottage itself was super clean and very well stocked with everything you need to cook. WiFi worked great for us in the evenings when we wanted to stream a movie. Location was excellent close to restaurants and bait tackle shops. Also very short drive to St. George island. Will definitely be staying again!

We had an amazing time in Carrabelle. Our host, Ed was super friendly and accommodating. Great private location close to the beach, sunrises and sunsets gorgeous. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook almost every night. Tastefully decorated and nice furniture. The beds were also comfortable, Wish I was still there:(

So glad you enjoyed your time on the Forgotten Coast and in our cottage. Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
Our gracious host Ed was extremely accommodating and friendly. He was always there if I needed something or had questions about where to eat and what to see and at the same time he was respectful with our space. He is a wealth of knowledge in regards to fishing and was kind enough to set up a canoe for my wife and I to fish and hang with the dolphins. Highly recommend and will be back!
Great place, check in a breeze. The place is inland bay water, however 15 minutes from St George Island beach and state park. We felt at home, super clean, comfortable and quiet. Great place for fishing!! Would stay again!
Loved this cottage. It had everything we needed. The cottage was lovely, all updated and the beds were very comfortable . The owner Ed was very helpful and the beach was fantastic.

Thank you for your review. It was a pleasure meeting you and your family. Have a happy and safe rest of your summer. Ed
There are attractive features about this rental but there is a major life-safety issue. There are no smoke detectors in the rental cottage. This is a violation of Florida law. Additionally there are flammable liquids stored in the lower level. The cottage is nicely decorated and very clean. Good kitchen equipment except for a quirky microwave below the island counter. The most attractive feature is the beach which is beautiful and minimally populated. It is peaceful and quiet. Views of the water from the cottage are blocked by the owners home which is about 150 ft away. The furniture is comfortable and the large TV is nice. Highway 319 is a short distance away and at times noisy. Although we texted with Sandra numerous times, she never once appeared or greeted us face to face. Ed was very friendly and helpful. I would give this cottage a good rating if the life safety issues are addressed.

Wow 2 stars! We are used to 5 stars from most of our guests. We strive to offer our guest the best possible stay. We are sorry the cottage was not to your liking. My husband did ask Meg about her stay and she said it was perfect. We will take all your comments into consideration. Just a note when selecting a property make sure to review the images thoroughly as we have an ariel image showing both the location of the cottage and our main house. Also take the time in researching the area, most waterfront properties in Carrabelle are along Hwy 98.
Awesome place with its own private beach! Ed was super accommodating making sure we had everything we needed. Place itself was clearly recently rerenovated, spacious and comfortable for our family of 6. Would highly recommend
We absolutely adored the cottage, we travel often and this was one of the best rentals we have stayed in, clean and with all of the basic amenities which were such a great surprise arriving late at night and not having to worry about getting out to go shopping. Thank you for a wonderful stay and the owners are wonderful at paying attention to small details. We will be back next month for another enjoyable stay.

Very glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope the weather cooperates next month.
We were looking for a low key vacation and that's exactly what we got. Our kids loved exploring the beach in the evenings, climbing to the top of the crooked river lighthouse, and visiting nearby St. George island. We could tell that the hosts thought of every detail and spared no expense renovating this house. It's the perfect home away from home.
I have to say this property was clean and equipped with all the necessity basics which made traveling much more enjoyable than the typical hotel stay. The owners were very pleasant, tentative, and hospitable. The private beach was the icing on the cake. I’m not sure you’ll find a more perfect spot in Carabelle! Perfect family vacation if privacy is what you’re seeking.

We had the BEST time! The owners of this place are amazing and so helpful and kind!
They helped us so much! Brought out the paddle board and kayak on the days we wanted to use them.
The house was beautiful and so comfortable! We had everything we needed!
We will definitely come back!!!!!
This was our second stay at this beautiful cottage, it is absolutely amazing! The private beach is so nice to just sit and relax, there was beach chairs and a table with umbrella. The area is quiet and relaxing and the hosts are absolutely delightful. The cottage is just a few miles to the pier and restaurants in Carrabelle and directly across from Tate's Hell hiking trails. My husband and I do plan to stay again.

Thank you for the great review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You are great guests hope to see you again.
Extraordinary! The property was a slice of heaven on Earth, it really captures the true beauty of what God intended - a lovely mix of National Forest lands and the coast. The cabin held our family party of five perfectly and comfortably. We were able to ride bikes through Tate’s Hell, The property host left a canoe and paddle board readily available to paddle out away from the beach, fishing had a lot of activity from the fish nearby, the lighthouse was also a cool sight. This year, our family wanted to be somewhere tranquil - we got just that, and we were so happy with what was provided. Thank you, again, Ed! We hope to be back again next year!

The cottage is recently updated and very clean. The hosts are very hospitable and accommodating. Very quick to respond. The private beach is our favorite and where we spent the majority of our time. We saw many schools of dolphins feeding just offshore. Lots of wildlife. The entire property is just beautiful and very well maintained.

Thank you for your kind review and choosing to say with us. Glad you enjoyed your stay.
The stay at this vacation cottage was one of the best. The location was not busy and not far from the craziness. (tourist haven) The beach was private and had a lot of wildlife. My family and I observed a dorsal fin, maybe a dolphin or a shark, in the distance. Across the highway is a national park for hiking. Staying here will give the best of both worlds, hiking and beaching.
The cottage was filled with everything a hotel would have, but much better. The owners were amiable and didn't bother us. I look forward to coming back to the same place in the future.
Carrabelle has turned into one of our favorite locations in this area due to the quieter atmosphere, great bayside beaches and sandbars and great fishing. We had a week full of outdoor adventures with our 3 year old. We had the most amazing stay at Ed and Sandra's guest cottage. The cottage was clean and tidy with all amenities to make for an easy and enjoyable week away from home. There are water views from the cottage and a short walk to the beach. All the fun Florida vacation items included: beachside loungers and umbrella, outdoor shower, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, water toys to use. The location is peaceful yet convenient to IGA in Carrabelle and the more robust amenities in Appalachicola. The beach was exceptional. We had it almost entirely to ourselves. High tide allowed for great beach strolls, sand castles and hunting for wildlife. Low tide offered amazing long beaches for lots of running and playing. We had good luck fishing off the shore even with our laxidasical efforts - flounder, trout and reds. We saw dolphins, stingrays, crabs, shorebirds and bald eagles. Ed and Sandra provide a peaceful and private atmosphere and were exceptionally welcoming and beyond kind in sharing their little slice of heaven. We really had the best week! We would recommend their cottage to any family looking to connect with nature and each other. We absolutely plan on staying here again!

Lovely but left feeling uneasy.
We booked a 4 night stay but didn’t even stay 1 night. We were only there for a few hours before heading home. For starters the property and inside of the unit were beautiful. However, we decided to leave for multiple reasons. First, the deadbolt lock on the entry/exit door was not properly installed, therefore not properly functioning. Second, inside the unit there was a locked door only accessible from the opposite side. Which according to the electrical breaker box, it led to a basement area. The main downfall to the door for us was it being only a few feet from the bunk beds our children would be sleeping in. Combined with the already not working deadbolt I we it didn’t feel entirely safe. Third, there appeared to be a discreet camera in the tv stand in the living room area. Owner said it was a sensor. When mentioning all of the above to the owner he said we were the first to complain, wasn’t accommodating and offered zero solution.
We ultimately left feeling uncomfortable. We have used VRBO for previous trips and never had an issue, never felt uncomfortable until this experience. We have 3 children and safety is a priority, especially in an unknown area hours from home.

I am sorry you felt uneasy at our beach cottage. You mention we were not accommodating however you did not mention that you never reached out to us during your stay. You reached out the next day a 7:51pm via email. Letting us know about what you consider safety issues and that you had left the area. Had you called us with the provided contact information given to you in the welcome packet or emailed us, we would definitely have addressed any issues. I don't want to get into a he said she match. The reviews from all of our other guests before and after your stay says it all.
About the host
Hosted by Ed & Sandra Carman
My wife Sandra and I are retired. We moved to Carrabelle 8 years ago and vacationed in the area for at least 10 years before that. We are originally from Miami, FL. We both love the feel and look of Old Florida which the Forgotten Coast is all about. Fishing and boating are both on the top of our list. The beaches and slow pace offer such a relaxed peaceful place to call home.
Why they chose this property
When you drive through the Forgotten Coast you can feel the nature all around. The picturesque scenery of the trees and shoreline can be breath taking with beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
What makes this property unique
Our property offers a place to relax and unwind. You can relax on the private beach or grab a fishing rod and take a few casts. We have caught trout, flounder and redfish right off the beach. The guest cottage has been updated and is a comfy place to return to after a day out on the water or beach. We offer chairs and umbrellas on the beach, a canoe and paddleboard.
