Our Lae Nani unit opens to a captivating view of the beach, ocean, the landscaping and the Wailua Bay. It is a second floor unit. We recently completed major remodeling with a new kitchen, new bathrooms, and new furniture including a flat screen television and king size bed. We chose this property over other available ones on the basis of the view, its location, and the grounds. It is on the second floor of Lae Nani's only two story building. It is located midway between Hanalei and Poipu and approximately 10 minutes North of the airport and several miles South of Kapa'a town. The beach adjacent the property (all Hawaii beaches are public and we are not allowed to call it our beach). provides good,safe swimming and snorkeling and there is a lava encircled beach area that is ideal for young swimmers. Numerous other beaches with more wave action are nearby providing for excellent surfing and boogie boarding.

We are walking distance to many excellent restaurants not to mention a very good bakery/coffee shop. Next door is the Lava Lava Beach club which is an ocean side restaurant and cocktail area with live Hawaian music. We are very close to the newly remodeled Coconut Market Place with a casual Italian restaurant and an ABC Store that is well stocked with sundries, beach accessories, beer etc. In other words, other than for groceries, one would never have to get in their car.

About The Owner

We are retired educators and have raised 4 children. When the kids were younger, we came to Hawaii many times. Having visited and enjoyed the other Islands, our favorite has been Kauai for the spectacular scenery, the friendly people, the variety of activities and that it hasn't been ruined by overdevelopment. Friends recently lured us back to Kaui resulting in a renewed love for the Island and after discovering Lae Nani, we decided that this was the place for us.

Why The Owner chose Kapaa

We feel that Lae Nani has qualities that we did not find in other properties. Besides being ideally located, Lae Nani had the most appealing overall quality environment. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. . While we are adjacent to a good swimming bearch, we are close to other excellent beaches, our large quality swimming pool, and is close to the charming town of Kapaa. Located in east Kauai, the drive to either Poipu or Hanalei is not excessive. There is a tennis court on site and parking is secure.

What makes this condo unique

We are located near the Wailua River with Kayaking, canoeing, and Hiking. Golfing and shopping are nearby. We are short walk to a variety of excellent eating establishments including Mexican, Japanese, Korean, Italian, and an excellent casual seafood restaurant/ fish market.

Great place to stay!

My family (wife and 7 year old daughter) and I stayed 10 days at this location and the property was great in many respects. Below the good and the bad (as no place is perfect - but this one certainly suited our needs just fine).

The good: The owners were great to deal with - I even logged our stay wrong and had us coming in a day later than we were - so had to call him to arrange an extra nights stay. It was done no problem! Very trustworthy and responsive owners. They do travel, so sometimes expect a slight delay in response, but not a big deal. We came to Kauaii for a vacation / work related business for me. This is of note becuase often I had to take the car we rented for work and leave wife and daughter alone at the condo. I was nervous about "stranding" them, but was so pleased that they had days of fun at the readily available and clean pool (always some kids in it whom my daughter played with but never crowded or unmanageable; she loved nightime swimming too), the beach (the ocean was not very rough - and there is a small lagoon that breaks the waves which my daughter was able to stand and play in), and the market that was walking distance with a variety stores. Local Kappa was also fun to visit (though for that you will want to drive to). The condo was clean and well stocked with all essentials, beach toys and chairs and coolers etc...really nice to have. As for the kitchen - we rarely ate out! Cooked all our own meals with ease. The condo even has BBQs available by the pool which we used. There are three - always had more than one available for use. Overall - my wife kept saying how I had picked a really good spot - score! Last - the view each morning for coffee and meals on the deck is fantastic; exactly what you expect when you get away to an island.

The bad: There are only two I would offer of my stay. One - the description states laundry is available. My wife and I took this to mean that we would have laundry in our condo (as has been the case with other VRBOs we've used). Not so - there is a facility near the main office and you have to pay for loads. Not a big big deal, but had we known, we would have packed differently. Second, the screen door to patio kept jamming. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but if you use the deck alot like we did for meals and such, by the middle of the week we all a little frustrated wrestling with door. My daughter could not do it herself. Should be an easy fix though.

Owner's Response: Hi Nick Thanks for taking the time to write your thoughtful review. I’m sorry to for both inconveniences. In setting up our site there is a place to indicate laundry. I checked this with the description “on site “ but a guest just see that there is a laundry. As this has come up before I took it off and prior to your arrival that amenity was removed was removed from the web site. I wish you had let me know that the lanai screen door was a problem and I would have had it fixed. We don’t like our guests to experience any negatives.

This condo was very comfortable for our stay, felt like coming home everyday, beds were comfortable, lanai is spacious. The pool is very, very nice! Great beach access, walking path, close to everything you need. We would definitely come back!!

Great condo with stunning views

This property was fantastic and we would absolutely love to go back. I did a lot of research before booking and read a lot of reviews. It was perfect for our family of four and only about 15 min from the airport. There are grocery stores and shops within walking distance. The condo overlooks the pool and there is a mother’s pool where kids can safely swim. The view is amazing and we spent mornings enjoying coffee outside. There is a good breeze off the water and no need for AC.

Spectacular!

Our stay at Lae Nani #124 exceeded our expectations in every sense. The location, view, and furnishings were excellent. In addition, the kitchen was exceptionally well equipped with all utensils, cook ware and spices and condiments one could possibly need ( we hope we added a few to the vast inventory! ). Lot's of nice beach options in the closet as well.

The grounds and pool were great and although close by, the condo is quiet and very relaxing. The barbecues are well maintained and in excellent working order.

Having access to the beach and pool is a perfect combination for sun lovers and water people. Lydgate Beach Park is a short walk for those seeking even more variety.

We walked to Foodland several times, a little under a mile, just follow the beach paths to the Bull Shed and walk toward the main road that parallels the ocean.

As far as eating options, the grilling is awesome as mentioned. We really enjoyed the Poke at Foodland. The Pono Market in old Kapaa is great for Poke as well. Lava Lava Beach Club is right next door. Good Happy Hour, right on the beach!

In Hanalei, the Kalypso Island Bar & Grill has wonderful coconut shrimp and calamari!

A number of people recommended Tiki Taco in Kapaa and Kenjis, on the main drag by Foodland (sushi burrito).

We are soooo looking forward to a return trip and Howard and Patti's Condo is an absolute must stay!

Beautiful area and condo

Thank you Howard for sharing your home. Everything you need is supplied in the condo - even boogie boards and beach chairs! Beautiful views off the lanai and super close to the pool and beach. Highly recommend this home.

Our unit is an end unit on the second floor of a two story building which means the view is outstanding and no noise from people above. While we are located near the main highway, the location of our unit shields us from road noise. The property is beautifuly landscaped by atropical landscaping expert. We are located immediately North of the Wailua River,(excellent kayaking and paddle boarding.) and several minutes South of the quaint town of Kapa'a which has a rich history as a sugar plantation industry town. While it's architectural charm has not changed, it now has excellent restaurants, art and Jewelry galleries, clothing stores, and bike and kayak rentals. The Coconut Market Place is is a two minute walk from Lae Nani. It has a casual Italian restaurant with several to be added, a well stocked convenience store and stores that sell Hawaiian/ beach clothing. We are a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to small shopping centers with major food markets and pharmacies.
