About the property

Condo, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This 1910 square foot condo was originally designed to be the retirement home of the Bears Den developer. Its huge great room has panoramic windows with views of both downtown Frisco, majestic Buffalo Mountain and the Front Range (including the 14er’s Grays and Torres Peaks), while the upstairs bedrooms offer the same, plus views of the Ten Mile Range. The Rowe sectional sofa is Relaxation Central, where tired skiers and hikers can stretch out in front of the fire, a view of Buffalo Mountain, and a 55-inch Samsung LED TV.

If you don’t fall asleep on the luxurious sofa and have enough energy for another short climb, ascend to the second level where you’ll have the choice of a Queen Bedroom with two new Simmons Beautyrest queen beds and private bath OR a King Bedroom with a Beautyrest king OR a Sunroom/Dayroom double twin daybed. The King and Day rooms share a full bath with glass shower enclosure. If kids or teens prefer “camping out” by the TV and fire in the A8 Great Room, twin-size inflatable beds and mats come with the unit to expand your group’s sleeping options.

Only one block from Main Street, Bears Den guests are only a short walk from a dozen dining experiences from the elegance of Vinny’s and the Blue Spruce Inn, to family fare at the Butterhorn, the Boatyard, Greco's and Kemosabe Sushi, to the best pizza in Summit County at Peppino’s. Top them off with an ice cream cone or fudge treat at Foote's Rest less than 100 yards from Bears Den. Or a local craft beer at The Moosejaw or the Brewery, also on Main Street. Not to mention browsing a multitude of shops offering sporting goods and clothing, ladies’ apparel, gifts and antiques, baby items, novelties, and bargain consignments.

Also less than one block from the Bears Den are the stops for the Summit Stage Free Shuttle, which will whisk you directly to Copper Mountain in 10 minutes, to Breckenridge in 20 minutes, and, with a shuttle change, to Keystone in about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you may take your rental car from your spot in Bears Den’s heated underground garage to any of the 4 local resorts in even less time, or to Vail (21 miles west) or Beaver Creek (34 miles west) via I-70.

Incidentally, Bears Den A8 is one of only 3 condos in Bears Den served by an elevator to the heated garage below, so hauling groceries or outdoor equipment need not involve tramping through the elements or up stairs.

In summer, you’ll have no need for a car to enjoy the frequent art shows and festivals on Frisco’s Main Street, or the July 4th Concert and Fireworks down at the Frisco Marina on Lake Dillon. In fact, the July 4th Parade ends just outside A8! Frisco is very safe, so family members of nearly all ages can come and go at each one’s individual pace and endurance, gaining access to A8 by using our special combination access (changed between rentals) so that there is no need to keep track of keys.

Since this unit is professionally managed and maintained by Book by Owner, you will be using bright-white sheets and 100%-cotton towels that are professionally cleaned, and you will have ready access to a local manager 24/7 for anything from a burned-out light bulb to an appliance question.

Overall, Bears Den A8 is as user-friendly an accommodation as any in Summit County. We’ll bet that you will want to return year after year.

About Maryann Stein

Hello! We are Maryann and Doug Stein, owners of Bears Den A8. Together, we have enjoyed many winter and summer vacations in Summit County. Residents of Florida, our trips to Colorado with family, friends and relatives have provided some of our most memorable vacations and adventures. We never tire of returning to Frisco, so we bought a condominium that we would like to share with you, not only to help defray our own expenses, but because we feel that it is a shame to let such a beautiful property remain vacant between our own trips. We hope you enjoy Bears Den, Frisco, and Summit County as much as we do.

Maryann Stein purchased this condo in 2010

Why Maryann Stein chose Frisco

When our daughter enrolled in the University of Colorado at Boulder after years of family vacations to a multitude of ski resorts, we decided to purchase in our favorite town, Frisco. At pre-construction prices, we bought an adjacent unit (A7) in 2007 when A8 was still reserved for the builder of Bears Den. When his health changed and he decided to sell in 2010, we jumped at the chance to have two adjacent units to accommodate our extended family. Bears Den is in the heart of Frisco, one block from Main Street and just a sort walk from shopping and dining. Along with A7 and A9, it is one of only three units in Bears Den (1) served by an elevator to the heated underground garage and (2) with a large foyer serving the main entryway.

What makes this condo unique

This unit provides ready access to 4 ski areas in winter and excellent hiking, including many 14er's, in summer. The location in the core area of Frisco near 2 stops of Summit County's Free Shuttle Bus means we hardly ever use the car except for groceries. The great room is a warm gathering place for large family groups and visitors from adjacent units. It is blessed with some of the best views in Bears Den, with huge windows that make us feel like we are enjoying the outdoors even while preparing gourmet meals in the spacious kitchen.

First-Class Condo

  • 5 of 5

Doug's condo was everything we expected. When we arrived it was immaculate. We enjoyed the huge windows overlooking the mountain and downtown Frisco, especially the day we were snowed in. The gas fireplace was priceless! It did a great job of heating the entire downstairs quickly. The beds were comfortable & the upstairs spacious. We had an issue with the shower in master bath but it was resolved in a few days.

The shuttle to Copper Mtn & Breckenridge was a short walk from the condo, making driving & parking at the resort one less thing to worry about. Loved the elevator in the building and underground parking! So nice after a long day of skiing not to walk up several flights of stairs.

We had plenty of room to relax on the sectional & recliner but am skeptical it could be roomy enough for 8-10 people. I would definitely purchase more silverware to accommodate more guests. We had 4 for dinner one night & had just 6 place settings. A crockpot would be a welcome item in the kitchen & Doug said he would purchase one. So easy to put dinner on before you head out for skiing.

Thanks, Doug, for a great place to stay during our ski trip to Colorado! We will definitely rent from you again.

Fun in Frisco

  • 5 of 5

My husband, close friends and their adult daughter stayed for 4 nites in this great condo. Condo was well equipped and had everything we needed! Very spacious and great big couch for relaxing. Easy walking distance to town (one block) and fun to get fresh baked pastries in the morning. Beds were very comfortable. The underground parking was great, especially after we had a lot of snow one night. Tricky getting up the steep entrance with our cheap rental car, but it made for some excitement. Skied both Breckenridge and Vail. I'm a blue/ green skier and much preferred Breck. Vail was a little too challenging and very confusing. Easy to get into something over my head. Would highly recommend Bears Den A8. One of the nicest rentals we have had through VRBO. You won't be disappointed.

If you are looking for an ideally located penthouse condo in an idyllic little town close to everything then this spacious, beautifully decorated, impecably maintained unit is for you.The furnishings are tasteful and of high quality adding to your stay. Its very quiet within the unit with virtually no sound from room to room, nice if you want to retire early and let others enjoy the terrific great room. No cold feet here, radient heat in the floor takes care of any concern you might have. The beds are top quality in excellent shape with high end sheets, pillows etc. The garage is well laid out and the designated parking spots are close to the elevator that is always ready when you want it.; Pizza at Pepperoni's; excellent fine dining but casual at Silverheels or The Grill @5th & Main are all within a 5 minute convenient !!!. Access to the main route to the ski areas is a block away so pick the mountain and off you go or take the convenient Summit Stage; this is a GREAT LOCATION. We definitely will stay here again on our next visit to Frisco.

Excellent location in Frisco

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 enjoyed a wonderful ski vacation during the week between Christmas and New Years. The condo is very comfortable, clean, spacious and had everything we needed. We enjoyed walking Main Street in Frisco to check out the shops and restaurants. Skiing was amazing and we were very centrally located to get to all the different mountains. Having the indoor parking space was wonderful as the weather was quite cold that week. Our truck was toasty warm each morning as we headed out. Doug was very helpful in making sure our stay was perfect. We would definitely rent again.
