Located waterfront on the Venice Canals - only an 8-minute walk to the beach & 10-minute walk to bars, restaurants, shopping, including Abbot Kinney. And close to LAX airport, LMU, Silicon Breach,& Santa Monica

Everything in the home is new - kitchen, bathrooms, floors, appliances, and furniture. Baby/infant friendly - Pack n' Play & Bassinet available. Free parking in 2-car garage

We provide a pedal boat to cruise the canal + 3 breach cruisers

3 BDRMs/6 people + extra queen mattress

Beautiful weather year round, so no A/C - high-end fans available for each room with advance notice

The space.
The home has everything need to enjoy a luxury stay. The home comes fully furnished including TVs, Amazon Alexas, and a pedal boat; the kitchen comes fully stocked with brand new stainless steal appliances, dinnerware, silverware and cookware. The kitchen also has a Nespresso coffee machine, tea kettle, and a wine fridge. All cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. are provided. There is an interior patio with a relaxing jacuzzi.

Each bedroom has a new smart TV, an Alexa, luxury sheets, and dressers. The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet, brand new shower/bath with high-end appliances and finishes, and a balcony overlooking the canal. The dining table seats 6. The cozy living room has a fireplace and a large screen smart TV.

Enjoy views from the canal from the brand new back deck. The deck has outdoor seating, a new fire pit and a new BBQ.

The home comes with a private dock and access to a pedal boat to cruise the Venice Canals.

There is a large 2-car garage, ring cameras, brand new lighting/electrical,.

We have a referral for an in-house home masseuse or a private chef, and extra housekeeping service is available upon request at an additional cost.

The indoor fire place is decorative. The outdoor fire place is fully functional.

Amazing canals house

Beautiful house right on the canals, fantastic deck, great Jacuzzi, great CA architecture vibe. Just one note -- the house is very airy with great light, and so you may want to use a sleeping mask (the hosts helpfully provide them). Highly recommended.

Perfect place and location

This was a perfect place. Location is superb, and is a very short distance to the beach (there is path taking you directly to the beach). The place is clean, new looking and tastefully furnished. The one thing to be aware of is that the master bedroom does not have full curtains, so there is light in the morning (that didn't bother us, but may for some, the host provided eye masks if need be). All in all an amazing place.

We stayed here with our 3 year old son and my parents and wow, everything about the property was perfect and more than we imagined. Incredibly clean and everything you could possibly need (including a pram) which came in so handy! Being located right on the canals was very special and the nights spent on the water will be remembered forever. Cannot wait to return again soon!

Gorgeous location and home!

Howland House is set in a magical location, right on the Venice Canals! The home is an architectural gem, modernized for all creature comforts, and appointed with luxurious furnishings and lovely amenities (soaps, towels, etc.). Also provided are bicycles and a pedal boat to tool around the canals in the gorgeous Venice weather. My sister and nephew joined us from NJ for a weekend retreat and it is a memory that will last forever. Thanks to Ben and his family for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful house, great location!

Our group of three moms + four teens had a wonderful stay at this house. The house is lovely and nicely appointed. We took advantage of the Jacuzzi, the paddleboat, the bikes. We made a couple of meals in the kitchen, which was nicely appointed. It is such a privilege to be able to stay directly on the Venice canals. They are quiet and beautiful and fun to explore. We were able to make a day at Venice Beach and Santa Monica without needing to get in the car. Highly recommend!

Fabulous Venice Canals

We stayed as a group of 5 in this lovely house on one of the Venice Canals for two weeks. Great location and very attentive host. Would highly recommend as lots to do nearby - amazing selection of restaurants too! We will be back - nod to us also seeing Arnie cycling to Golds Gym💪

Dreamy Getaway!!

We had the absolute best visit to Venice beach with family! The house exceeded every expectation! It is stunning, clean, well stocked and in the perfect location!! We took bikes down to ride along the water, we took the boat out every single day and cruised around the canals and just enjoyed the gorgeous views from every room in the house! We loved it! And the host was so responsive and helpful! We will definitely be going back again soon!

My stay at Bens home

Ben was extremely accommodating, we had ran into some issues with booking, Ben went above and beyond to ensure my stay was booked. Ben communicated amazingly and the house was IMPECCABLE! My fiancé and I were lost for words, the photos do not do the home any justice. It was fully stocked with pots, pans and toiletries. Overall 5/5 stay, highly recommend. Hands down one of the best home rentals I have ever stayed in.

Vacation Perfection

Every year my super active, always traveling family searches for a setting that will inspire and keep everyone engaged and together for at least a week. It's a big ask with 3 teenage boys, 3 midlife parents, and two octogenarian grandparents who all love nature, culture, design, and exercise. Ben's beautiful home on the canals hit every note. It is gorgeous and generous and the perfect place to cook beautiful meals and watch a California sunset. The neighborhood is quiet and funky. The home is every bit as cool as the pictures and Ben is a fantastic and responsive host. Our teenage boys rated the home and the trip a 10 out of 10. If you know anything about teenage boys, that makes this place a unicorn. Thank you, Ben!

What’s Not To Love

Fantastic location. Fantastic house. Beds super comfortable and cozy, clean linens. Awesome showers! Hot tub was clean and well maintained. Though it’s older with no real jets per se, it is very private and in an outdoor space so you can see the sky and unwind. I loved it! Great decks to relax and people watch walking the canals. 10 minute, easy stroll to the beach or Abbot Kinney. Bikes in the garage were great to ride to Santa Monica pier or Manhattan Beach. Washer&Dryer = awesome! Costco and Trader Joe’s nearby. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Very spacious with plenty of room and a great kitchen. The only downside to the house is there are no windows that open in the master bedroom so you have to leave the French doors to the balcony open which allows sand flies and mosquitos in. We did utilize the fan to keep their little wings flapping away and for the most part, that worked but we did end up with a few bites. It did not distract from the beauty and loveliness of the home. We will return to this little slice of heaven! Enjoy!

Extremely disappointed. The house isn't worth the cost and we feel ripped off.

The main problem is the owner, Ben, who is incompetent and dishonest: We booked the house through Vrbo. Later, I received an email from Ben saying he’d “accidentally” cancelled our booking - but we were "welcome to rebook" if we’d like. I immediately tried rebooking but suddenly the price was about $1000 more than what we originally booked it for! I queried this with Ben who told me the price had gone up. Normally, we’d have run a mile from this kind of scam, but it was so soon before our flights that we had little other choice of accommodation. The hot tub was filthy. I emailed Ben and he said it had been cleaned the previous day (an obvious lie). He sent his ‘maintenance man’ (who later turned out to be his dad) to clean it. The tub appeared to be clean that night, but when we went to use it again two days later, it was again filthy. Ben did offer to clean it again, but the moments had passed for us wanting to use it. I emailed Ben to check that the bikes would be available and he assured me that 2 new bikes would be there. There were 3 bikes, all of which were more or less unrideable. One appeared to be new, while the others were rust buckets. We ended up hiring bikes. The property has a Nespresso coffee machine. I emailed Ben before arriving after if the property had a French press. He said he’d get one. When we arrived, there wasn’t one. I emailed Ben and he said that he’d put it there the day before (which he clearly hadn’t). However, the next day, one was delivered (along with coffee and a bottle of champagne). the cushions on the patio were soaking when we arrived so we could not use them. we couldn’t turn the fire pit on. More emails sent to Ben to ask for instructions. It would have been so much easier to have some brief instructions, rather than my holiday being wasted with emailing Ben. one of the Alexas didn’t work. I emailed Ben about this, who told me (wrongly) they were working. Other smaller problems: the house is noisy, with little privacy. The main bedroom has an open window onto the sitting room, so noise carries between the 2 rooms. there are hardly any blinds in the bedrooms, so it is very light in the mornings, waking us up. the boat was so filthy we didn’t use it. why only 4 coffee mugs in a house of this size? it would have been nice to put some pepper in the pepper pot. Positives: the house is in a good location, the living space is good and the beds are comfortable.

This review is 100% false. Future and potential guests - please find our home on Airbnb and you will see over 20 5-star reviews. We go above and beyond for our guests. Don’t let one unhappy person prevent you from staying at our lovely home. To Lucy: You are a miserable person and your review is more reflective of your attitude and personality than our home. Lucy INQUIRED about booking our home and, few weeks later, when she went to book, prices indeed have gone up. This was several weeks before her trip and she could have stayed anywhere else. At Lucy’s request, we purchased 3 beach cruisers. All in fine workable condition. Lucy was disappointed the bicycles were not brand new. However, she still used them regularly. Lucy did not know how to use a Nespresso machine. At Lucy’s request, we bought a French press and fresh grounded coffee. She still complained. We generally keep our seat cushions in door and put them outside before guests arrive. The cushions were dry when the Lucy arrived. However, it rained during her stay and the cushions got wet. Still, we sent housekeeping dry the cushions. Same with the boat - it gets cleaned before every guest. However, it rained during her stay… The house has 6 coffee cups next to the coffee machine other mugs and cups in the cupboard. Why she said we only have 4 is beyond me. We bought a brand new hot tub after the one we had malfunctioned. We asked Lucy to let us switch it whenever it is convenient to her. She refused. My father is a licensed general contractor has years of experience as a maintenance man. Not sure why it bothered the guest that my father came to fix because our maintenance man was tied up. The fire pit is brand new and like any other fire pit - press the igniter and turn the knob. Lucy did not know how to turn on the fire pit (I guess not surprising since she did not know how to use a Nespresso machine). We came to the house to show her. Same with the Alexa’s - they are new and work like any other Alexa. Lucy also did not know how to use this, so we came to the house and showed her (press and hold the Bluetooth button and connect your smart phone). We have since out curtains and blinds to protect our guests’ privacy and light from coming in.
