About Sheila and Dave

We are an active and adventurous couple who love to travel and explore. Part of our enjoyment comes from creating our own “home away from home” wherever we go. We love to take part in the communities that we visit. But, we also enjoy returning to our “hidden refuge” for special moments that reconnect us. So…we like being in the thick of it, but we also like our privacy. If you find, as we have, that this experience is sometimes enhanced by having another couple as travel companions, we provide that opportunity…or bring your children and make yourself at home.

Great place - Great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place. It is right in town yet there is wonderful privacy. The apartment has full length windows in the kitchen and front room that look out onto the deck and hill side so there is lots of light and complete privacy. The neighborhood at night is silent and there are drapes that can block out any light. That and the fact that the bed was very comfy led to a very restful sleep. The apartment is nicely furnished and the kitchen well stocked with ample room for cooking. We would definitely come again. The pictures on line do not do this place justice. In fact, I would suggest that the owners take new pictures that highlight the apartment and not the people in it.

Excellent location for walking around Port Townsend

  • 4 of 5

My daughter and I really enjoyed this property. It is a great location for parking your car and walking around Port Townsend. The apartment is good sized, the bathroom is roomy, the kitchen seems well stocked for things to make meals with - we didn't actually cook. Outside the doors there is a cute deck with a table and 4 chairs - very private. Buzzy, the Innkeeper, was helpful when we had questions. Here are a few additional items you might want to know - the parking right outside on the street is 2 hours only, Monday - Friday, except on Sunday and holidays. To park overnight or for longer time frames, you need to park up the street (up the hill) and on the other side. So no off street parking. There is no air conditioning - there is one fan in the larger bedroom. You can open up windows as you are on the second floor but for me, the second bedroom was way too hot and without air flow so the second night, I bought a cheap $20 fan for the window and I was much more comfortable (keep in mind, we were there in July). It is also louder with the open windows at night - people walking around, sitting outside at restaurants, closing out the saloon across the street. I can always find a use for a small fan later so it wasn't a big issue. There is no shampoo, conditioner in the bath which we read on another review so we brought our own. There were bath salts and body wash and hand soap. There were plenty of towels and extra TP / Kleenex. There were ice trays filled and ice made in the freezer - thank you Buzzy. The office area is a little separate room with it's own lock - and it is a little dusty but has some good information on the area, lots of books to read, some movies and some games along with a computer / printer set up. We recommend the Fountain Café for dinner, The Blue Moose Café for breakfast, Better Living Through Coffee for coffee, Elevated Ice Cream Co for ice cream or gelato and Twisted History Tours for some history of Port Townsend and fun entertainment.

Nice Place to Land

  • 4 of 5

Nice little rental right smack in the middle of town. We enjoyed our stay here, being walking distance to everything we wanted to do in Port Townsend was super nice.

Very private and mostly quiet except for during the week when the offices downstairs all fill up with people working, you could hear conversations loud and clear although we were getting ready to leave so weren't concerned. Just something to note if you're staying during the week.

The apartment was comfortable and the beds nice to sleep in. One thing to note is there is no shampoo/conditioner provided which is something most vacation rentals do these days. I almost didn't bring any and would have been bummed to have to go buy some full size toiletries when I was only there for a quick weekend and would have had to leave it behind, so bring your own! The cold water taps in both bathroom and kitchen actually put out hot water for a long couple of minutes before it starts cooling down, something to note that it will eventually get cooler and is just an odd glitch.

Loved the wood stove and the provided firewood, that was a lovely touch. Buzzy was responsive and flexible with our check in and answered any questions promptly. Overall would recommend and would likely stay again.
