Villa de la Playa is a beautiful villa perfect for sun worshippers and beach lovers alike and is located In Akumal on Half Moon Bay. The Villa is only 60 minutes south of the Cancun airport. Akumal is a quaint fishing village with excellent restaurants, dive shops, good shopping and great beaches. It boasts phenomenal snorkeling in Yal-Ku Lagoon and Akumal Bay. We pride ourselves on being quiet, relaxed and laid back, but full of fun and completely surrounded by all those tropical amenities such as warm white sand beaches, aqua blue water, crystal clear lagoons, scuba diving, sport fishing, ancient Mayan ruins and wonderful cuisine.

Outside you will find a large patio area with a charcoal grill, swimming pool, and private beach area. In front there is parking for up to 3 vehicles and just steps away from one of the area's best full service restaurant. The villa has a total of 7 bedrooms the including the owners suite and the casita apartment which is attached as part of the villa, all have king or queen beds and are air conditioned. A fully equipped kitchen with bottled water, large dining/living room, TV/DVD. we furnish all linens, towels, wash cloths, bath soap and beach towels. Baby beds are supplied upon request. check time is at 3:00 pm and check out is at 11:00 am. We have wonderful caretakers who are excellent cooks. If you desire to have some are all of your meals prepared by them, you can speak with them about the price for their services and that is based what types of food and how many meals. Customary tipping for the staff is $10.00 per day per staff person.

Upstairs features 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms along with the owner's suite and it's bathroom that can be rented for an additional fee. Contact us with inquiries. All beds in the house are king or queen size. We also have an additional studio apartment attached to the house which would be a 7th bedroom, it also has a full bathroom. All bedrooms are fully air conditioned.

THE AREA IS VERY QUITE, NO NOISE BUT THE SOUND OF WAVES ON THE BEACH AND A WARM TROPICAL BREEZE.

The Big Chill Vacation 2016!

This is the 4th time I've stayed at this property, & while every time is wonderful in every way, this time was just amazingly PERFECT! The house is always kept up so well on a daily basis by Amado & Inez (caretakers - you couldn't ask for friendlier people!). From taking a dip in the pool to snorkeling in the bay, there is nothing better than this property for the view, location, & amenities offered! I HIGHLY recommend staying here. I know we'll be back as soon as humanly possible :)

Wonderful Experience

I stayed at this villa for a week. The first couple of days it rained continuously, which I later found out is very out of character for this area. By the third day, the weather was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the view of the sunrise every morning, and rose up early every day to watch its beauty. The villa is very spacious and has everything that you would need. The beds are comfortable also. Amato and Inez are very attentive and nice. I had read a review that talked about some safety issues, but there is absolutely NO issue with safety. This community is very upscale and there was no evidence of anything that would cause concern. We loved having La Buena Vida so close to go by in the morning for breakfast or in the evening for a drink. I am certainly planning to return to this location and villa. I would highly recommend it!

Having a Blast!

The review below with 1 star about being robbed does not match our experience. It explains there are squatters living in abandoned houses in the jungle. I can tell you there are no abandoned houses in this neighborhood. There are only million dollar plus homes on this strip, and the community is gated. Also there are security cameras here that appear to have been here for a long while. We feel VERY SECURE and safe in this wonderful beach casa. We are having a blast here in Akumal at the Villa del Playa casa. No issues at all.

When you arrive, you are greeted with a sandy drive way that fits three (3) cars and a paved driveway that fits one (1) SUV comfortably. You can also fit two (2) more cars, parallel to the house in front. If you are lucky there is a another parking driveway on the other side of the street in front of the house if it's not taken.

The location of the house is very convenient. Just a skip-walk down the street (two houses down) resides La Buena Vida in-sand restaurant w/Dive shop and some small Gift shops across the street. Another couple houses down from there is a small Corner Market serving amenities (alcohol, candy, salt, sugar, etc) what you would typically find at a small gas station.

Exiting your vehicle in front, there is a detached apartment with faucet, seperate refrigerator, couch, bed, AC, and shower/toilet. Entering the house, you are greeted with two large sliding doors with clear view of the beach/ocean. To the right is a large sized kitchen with Gas Range/Oven, Large refrigerator, Bottled Water Dispenser and more than sufficient cooking pans/pots/dishware, Coffee Pot Maker (12 cups), Toaster, and Microwave. To the left of the entry door are Two Large sized Bedrooms with connected Bathroom, 1 King and the other 1 Queen. Stepping down to the living room is couch and dining area - to the right a Master Queen suite with full bath. Backyard houses medium sized pool and plenty of lounge/sun-tanning seating and picnic table.

Moving upstairs is a sliding door to balcony and entry door to Master (Owner's) Suite w/full bath anyone can rent. On balcony are two more smaller hotel sized rooms with private bathrooms each, equipped with toilet and shower.

The picture of a "typical bath vanity" is equal throughout all the bathrooms in the house. Full shower and sink, same design, and very nice. We never ran out of hot showering water with 13 of us in the house.

Perfect , Beautiful, location for family of all different interests

There were 12 of us. Many different ages within our extended family ,and many diverse needs. All were able to do what they wanted. Some walked into town everyday to see the turtles.Some snorkeled from the beach in front. ( The water was warm and wonderfully clear). Some just floated from the beach several houses down.Some did absolutely nothing, And all enjoyed the Buena Vida restaurant just 3 doors down for meals any time of the day.

It was wonderful for all to have their own bedroom and ( except for one shared) bath. There was good water pressure and hot water in the showers.

Our favorite part was watching sunrises from the front area and being able to sit comfortably in the shade or sun looking at the beautiful water all day. Few neighbors ventured down the beach in front of the house so it was very private. The location within walking distance of town was WONDERFUL!!!

Remember if walking there at night. there are no lights and it is quite dark so bring a flashlight. Also water shoes to get into the the water are a must because it is rocky.

My husband grew quite fond of the iguana "Pets" and made sure they were well fed.

My only suggestion...we cooked many meals... and it would be nice to have had more basic cooking supplies like seasonings and cooking oil, etc.

Also, in owners suite, there were screens on the windows so we could keep windows open to hear the ocean and get the breezes. On the other 2 rooms upstairs this was not the case so if they didnt want to worry about bugs getting in they had to close the sliding doors and use the air conditioner. Also there were no block out curtains in those rooms for privacy and to keep out morning sun.

Having a mini store 3 doors down for necessities and larger one in town was great to never have to get in the car.

All in all, I am sure if we have this many together again we will be back as it is met all of our needs.

WE WERE ROBBED WHILE IN THE HOUSE!

I am just back from a stay in this house and it was an absolute nightmare. On the 4th day a room upstairs was robbed while we were all downstairs having dinner! The owner had been warned several times about this possibility as it has happened several times recently on the same road but he refused to spend the money getting security cameras hooked up or even installing a gate on the side stairwell. Blatant negligence and disregard for his renters' safety.

The next day we learned that the jungle that the house butts up to has not one but THREE abandoned houses in it with squatters living in them with no running water or electricity. They left these descriptions off in the pretty listing you see. Two guests had to pay out of pocket for a hotel for the remainder of the trip because they didn't feel safe there, knowing that someone had been watching the property and had the nerve to break in while we were home. The owner has shown negligence, total disregard for how violating and tramautizing the experience was and has refused to compensate us in any way.

I'd think twice about this property unless you're ok with knowing you're being watched and targeted and someone can enter at anytime and the owner doesn't care that he just pocketed $4500 while your vacation was absolutely ruined. Seriously, look elsewhere and be sure there are CAMERAS and gates!!

beautiful house!

Hi,

Yes, we loved the house and had a great time! There were only a couple of glitches....getting the wi-fi to work took calls to the owner and eventually to the local tech guy to reset the login and password. After that, all fine.

We had a very windy week, with the front porch/pool area being hit full force, such that it was hard to sit out there....but weather can't be controlled or predicted! We learned the hard way that the sliding door in the bedroom that leads out to the pool must be kept closed at night to avoid noise from a wind-tunnel effect. Very loud!

Be sure to bring small tupperware containers for leftovers as there are none!!. Ditto coffee filters, salt and pepper. Seems like these would be thoughtful and cheap for the owners to provide!

The caretakers are great...we had a dinner cooked by Inez which was delicious.

The dining table seats only 6, due to lack of more chairs! We were 11. There are 4 counter stools which face the kitchen with their backs to those eating at the table. The 11th person had to eat with plate on his lap in a lounge chair. The table could have seated two more if there had been chairs. Extra folding chairs would have been an easy and cheap fix.

We rented the owner's suite on the second floor as an extra bedroom, which worked out well. It is lovely. Stairs have no railings, which meant we chose the first floor bedroom near the pool, as I am recovering from knee surgery.

Location of the house is great. No beach, but ocean was very rough that week for snorkeling the Half moon bay. Hope this helps!

Owner's Response: At times things such as the wifi does go out, as well as other mechanical or electronic devices or equipment, that is Life. The same problems happen in all countries, just may take a day or so longer to get it repaired in Mexico when it happens on a weekend people and getting things done move just a little slower in Mexico. That seems to be why so many people choose to vacation there.
