A week of fun...July 8th - July 15th 2017

  • 4 of 5

The house was great for the 8 of us and would definitely rent this house again. Vicki was very responsive since the day I inquired about the house and when we were staying at the house.

We had a question about the coffee maker......she quickly responded. The house is 8 blocks away from the beach and there is much less traffic than the house we stayed at last year that was 1 block away from the beach. We felt more comfortable with the kids riding their bikes and scooters around the block. We were walking distance to downtown, etc.

Many pros about this house and a few cons....A washer and dryer would make this stay that much better and the kitchen is very small but we managed.

Thank you very much for letting us stay at your house.

Owner's Response: We are sorry to hear that your stay was not everything you had hoped for, but it is everything and more than you received during your stay in 2014 and 2015. The carpet was shampooed within the past month and we have never received complaints about the cleanliness of our home before. I personally take pride in our rental and deep clean the home myself multiple times every year and rely on our cleaning staff the remainder of the time. As for the gas grill, we do instruct our guests to inform us when we are out of gas so we can either reimburse you for the refill or have our staff replace it when they are able. For circumstances such as these, we have a charcoal grill available on site that could've been used. While we always appreciate repeat renters, and have many, we never intended to rent to your party again this year after the complaints we received from neighbors in 2015. We had also received a lengthy complaint from our cleaning company regarding how your group trashed the home in 2015 and how it was even worse this year. We were even charged *double* the normal rate to clean after your group had left garbage all over the counters, tables, front porch and back patio. I happened to be in the middle of some personal matters when I received your reservation request and was not able to double check your name when I, regrettably, accepted. While we thank you for your business, we hope that you will find accommodations that better meet your expectations for any future vacations.

Cozy home for family gatherings

  • 5 of 5

A great place for our far flung family to get together for a family wedding. We enjoyed having coffee in the morning and meals around the table. Lots of room for visiting, and sleeping. A short walk to town as well. A fun surprise was a neighborhood bunny that visited the yard several times!

Charming house - great location

  • 4 of 5

We have made Betsie Bay House and annual trip. The house is a few blocks from downtown and the bike trail. Lots to do in the area. The house is an older home with a lot of character. Everything that you need is in the home including a gas grill. Great for a group setting. The reason for the 4 star vs a 5 is for the comfort of the beds. If you like a firm bed you are all set. If you prefer a softer bed you might want to bring your memory foam. In all, this is a lovely house in a great location

Love this house!.

  • 5 of 5

This was our 5th stay in Frankfort. We can say it was a beautiful house to have for the week. We loved the front porch and how we could park our car and walk everywhere we wanted to go. I would highly recommend staying there.

Great Golf Base Camp!

  • 5 of 5

We used the Betsie Bay house as our base for a guys golf getaway weekend! Lots of great golf just minutes away (Arcadia Bluffs, Crystal Mountain, etc), and plenty of great restaurants in Frankfort within easy walking distance. We would definitely use it again. Clean and comfortable! We particularly enjoyed the large front porch for an evening glass of wine!

Sleeping Bear Dunes is one of the most famous activities of Northwestern Michigan. This is one activity that you won't want to skip.

If you are into biking you will want to try out Frankfort-Elberta beach-to-beach trail. 4.2 mile trail connecting the beaches of Elberta and Frankfort. The trail also connects to the Betsie Valley Trail which goes from Frankfort-Elberta through Beulah to Thompsonville (22 miles).

If golfing is what you are after you will want to try out Champion Hills--Beulah, Frankfort Public Golf Course, Pinecroft Golf Course--Beualh or Crystal Mountain--Thompsonville. All of them are excellent courses.

If you are into the arts you will have to visit Interlochen Center for the Arts a home to the Interlochen Arts Festival, an annual presentation of more than 750 student, faculty and guest artist events. Corsen Auditorium, Interlochen's premier indoor venue, accommodates up to 1,000 people for music, theater and dance productions. Interlochen Center for the Arts is located 16 miles southwest of Traverse City.

For a local artist you will want to visit Gwen Frostic's well-known original block prints are featured at this wildlife sanctuary and printing shop. Open May-November, Monday-Saturday. No admission Charge.

If canoeing is your scene then you will want to try out the Upper Platt River that flows around the town of Honor. The upper portion of the river is better suited for more experienced canoeists; the lower portion is slower-paced for family-style canoeing and flows through the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore to Lake Michigan.

Don't forget the wineries. If you travel around the Leelanau Peninsula there are several wineries within the area.
