Great house, great location, great town!
Our family stayed at the Betsie Bay House during the weekend of Frankfort's Fall Festival (Oct 12-16). It was a great place to stay! There was plenty of room for our large family. The upstairs bathroom was huge and there were plenty of soft towels! The beds were comfortable and the house was very clean and tidy, inside and out. Cooking meals was made easy. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, silverware, etc. The grocery store was a short distance away, in case we forgot anything. Downtown Frankfort was also a quick walk from the house. We walked into the downtown several times to shop and attend the festival. This was our second stay at the Betsie Bay House. We are already planning to return next summer!
Perfect size, beautiful and welcoming!
We had a great time, as always, visiting. The fall festival was a blast and this home was perfect for our family get together! The home included everything we needed for our stay and had so many extras that have not been included in other rentals we’ve stayed at in Colorado. We love Frankfort and we highly recommend seeing the pumpkin drop (900+ lb pumpkin dropped on a car). You can also see the 1000+ lb pumpkins that one of the neighbor carves each year from this house.
Very clean and nice quiet neighborhood. Convenient location.
Positive experience. We return annually.
Nice and clean and well maintained. I cooked out and can say that both grills need replacing.injury
Both cooking grills was used with a little apprehension to possible injury. Both need to be replaced for insurance claims possibly. House was clean. Upstairs bathroom sink was way to slow to drain.
While we are sorry you had any issues while visiting our property, we do regret that we never received a phone call, nor did we have a way to reach out to you directly to assist you.
As for the drain in the bathroom upstairs, it is antique and differs from modern sinks. If I had been given the opportunity to explain how it works, I know you wouldn't have had any further issues.
We do have a gas and charcoal grill at our property and used the gas grill the day prior to your arrival. It is common for the ignition on gas grills to go out approximately one year into their use. We have never had any issues with using a long/utility lighter. I'm not sure from your description if this was the issue, or in what way you deem our grills to be unsafe. The other grill is a charcoal grill, so I can't begin to imagine how it would be unsafe.
We hope that you will visit again in the future and that you will give us the opportunity to work through any of the issues you may have experienced. A phone call at the time you are experiencing any issues is always preferred, because we can't help now that your reservation has ended.
Another wonderful vacation at the Betsie Bay House ...
Our family particularly enjoys the front porch where we spend much of our time playing games, talking together, and eating dinner while watching the goings’-on of the quiet neighborhood. Walking into town for ice cream or to the beach is convenient and pleasurable. Vicki is always an accommodating host.
Nice home, 8 blocks to a beautiful beach.
This home is close to one of the prettiest beaches in Michigan. The home has four bedrooms, one is great for small children. The kitchen is very small, so if your cooking it's an adjustment. Otherwise it's a great place to stay to enjoy such a beautiful town.
Sleeping Bear Dunes is one of the most famous activities of Northwestern Michigan. This is one activity that you won't want to skip. If you are into biking you will want to try out Frankfort-Elberta beach-to-beach trail. 4.2 mile trail connecting the beaches of Elberta and Frankfort. The trail also connects to the Betsie Valley Trail which goes from Frankfort-Elberta through Beulah to Thompsonville (22 miles). If golfing is what you are after you will want to try out Champion Hills--Beulah, Frankfort Public Golf Course, Pinecroft Golf Course--Beualh or Crystal Mountain--Thompsonville. All of them are excellent courses. If you are into the arts you will have to visit Interlochen Center for the Arts a home to the Interlochen Arts Festival, an annual presentation of more than 750 student, faculty and guest artist events. Corsen Auditorium, Interlochen's premier indoor venue, accommodates up to 1,000 people for music, theater and dance productions. Interlochen Center for the Arts is located 16 miles southwest of Traverse City. For a local artist you will want to visit Gwen Frostic's well-known original block prints are featured at this wildlife sanctuary and printing shop. Open May-November, Monday-Saturday. No admission Charge. If canoeing is your scene then you will want to try out the Upper Platt River that flows around the town of Honor. The upper portion of the river is better suited for more experienced canoeists; the lower portion is slower-paced for family-style canoeing and flows through the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore to Lake Michigan. Don't forget the wineries. If you travel around the Leelanau Peninsula there are several wineries within the area.
