Great house, perfect location, beautiful oceanfront house!

Not sure what the guy's problem was who went off on a tirade about this house. It's a great rental home. The two couches and two chairs in living room are new. Carpet looks great. I saw no mold so he's crazy or very, very picky. House was probably built in 1990's I'm guessing but everything was in tip top shape. Two nice palm trees provide some shade outside. Love the glass windows so even in the Spring or Winter you have great view of oceanfront! A block or two from Harris Teeter's. Sullivan's Island has a great quaint look with lots of good places to eat. It has a lot of older homes that have been restored so it is a 'lost in time' sort of sea village plus go by Ft. Moultrie to take a look a museum and the fort itself. Restaurant by Harris Teeter's and Coconut Joe's were great! I've stayed here twice. Don't know the owners but it's a very good vacation home. Unless you are a fussy old crankpot, you'll love it!!

My husband and I and three of our children rented Sand Dune Lane 10 for 5 days. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. The home is well maintained and is at a great location. Although I wish the master were upstairs rather than on the first floor it's still a great place to stay. If we decide to do a repeat vacation on IOP we'll definitely consider staying here again. We are a blended family so there were plenty of bedroom options to give each child their own room. We didn't have a need to contact the office for any assistance however our check-in and check-out were quick and painless.

Our family has rented ocean front properties for over 30 years and as a result have a very real expectation of what to expect for our dollar. I am writing this review for multiple reasons but the number one purpose is to voice my total disappointment in the property at 10 Sand Dunes Lane. When spending over $2500 a week, in the off season, I do not expect. Stained ceilings from a leaking roof. Not just a little staining but it covers the majority of the family room, down the walls, bubbled and pealing drywall and has been leaking so long that it has rotted one of the windows and broken the seal in the thermo pain, staining the window to the point you can't even see out of it. One area is very clearly "black" mold that is a health hazard that I am sure if inspected by the IOP Authorities would be enough, by itself, to shut down that house as a rental. The southern corner of the support beam on the balcony, off the second floor master bedroom is rotted to the point it is unsafe to to be on. That's an issue that is a danger that needs attention before someone is seriously injured. I very much appreciate "rental furniture", but the condition of the upholstered couches and chairs are "way" beyond their realistic life's expectancy. I'm not going to go on a rant about the mattresses but it goes without saying they were totally unacceptable. The plates and dishes were put away dirty. Glasses and coffee cups had lipstick on them. I appreciate how difficult carpets can also be in a rental, but the carpets in this place are atrocious!! I could go on with other structural issues, loose stair treads on the deck steps, loose and broke deck railings, etc, but I hope by now as a rental company that prides itself on quality product and service you get my point. This property, in its present state is not much more then a $1000 a week, "Spring Breakers", rental. As a local Realtor, I will have to re-think recommending any company that puts this quality on the market as a standard.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, after suffering from the recent hurricane the roof did have a leak, but left the house in habitable condition. We did our best to coordinate repairs while not interrupting your vacation. The repairs have since been made and the house is in great shape. The owner plans on replacing the carpets this off season as they are aware they need to be changed as well.
