Perfect for multiple families or groups, the layout showcases two bedrooms and a full bath on each wing of the house. Upon arrival, a gravel driveway and convenient carport await. Both a front porch and a back deck equipped with a fire table and seating provide places to unwind. A screened-in back porch offers lounge chairs and outdoor dining opportunities. Grilling enthusiasts will appreciate the option of two Weber grills, one propane and the other charcoal-fired, catering to your culinary preferences.
For nature lovers, the property showcases views of the lake, mature trees, and an open grassy expanse, complete with a firepit for evening get-togethers. Enjoy the private dock and a two-slip boathouse, granting direct access to the lake. The waterfront is ideal for leisurely swims or explorations on stand-up paddleboards, a canoe, and kayaks. To the east, follow the southern shore to uncover the splendor of Smith's Creek or head straight across to explore the islands, with the old Roanoke River bed on the other side. No matter which direction you head you'll find a haven teeming with fish and inhabited by eagles, osprey, ducks, herons, and turtles.
Bring your own boat or rent one nearby to fully immerse yourself in the lake experience. For anglers and boating enthusiasts, a neighborhood boat ramp is available just a quarter-mile down Hinton Mill Road. If you’re looking to rent, a 20-minute drive will take you to Holly Grove Marina, and from there, a picturesque 6-mile boat ride will lead you back to the Sunrise Cottage boathouse. Please keep in mind this is a shallower section of the lake and the docking area may not be appropriate for boats with deep drafts like ski boats or center console offshore fishing boats. Please message us if you plan on bringing your own boat so we can help you plan to have the best trip possible.
On rainy days or during late-night hours, take advantage of the collection of puzzles, games, and books. Plush, oversized sofas provide comfort for the entire family. Enjoy access to high-speed fiber internet and a Roku-equipped TV in the living room, along with an Xbox and a selection of games and many DVDs.
With four bedrooms accommodating a maximum of 8 guests, the base rate covers 2 guests, with an additional nightly rate for up to 8 guests. The residence is smoke-free and embraces a peaceful neighborhood, so kindly refrain from house parties. While the yard isn't fenced, you're welcome to walk your dog along the road.

We had an amazing time! The host was so gracious with lots of special touches from cinnamon rolls waiting in the freezer to a special happy birthday balloon for my husband.
The home had every possible amenity you could think of. Such a beautiful view of the sunrise each morning sitting on the dock with a cup of coffee. Tons of activities, as a couple or family. Loved our stay, will certainly come back. The owners made homemade cinnamon buns! Such a blessing and treat.

So glad you got some beautiful sunrises and were able to get out on the water! Thanks so much for sharing!
We had the absolute best stay! The place was exceptionally clean and had every little thing you could think of from kitchen supplies to Nespresso machine to a first aid kit to walkie talkies to kayaks! If you forgot something, no problem because they most likely had what you needed. The dock was a great fishing spot! Beautiful view of the lake from the screened in porch without having to go down the steps, but trust me you will still want to go down the steps to the lake. Communication and check-in was a breeze. We cannot say enough good things about this place, by far one of the best places we have stayed at with so many extra amenities from indoor games to outdoor games and activities. You could never be bored at this house! A great place for a couple or a family!

We were so happy to have your family back! Glad the rain didn't stop you from enjoying your week! We hope you come back again!
Property was very clean, has every item you could possibly need in the kitchen which is a plus. I appreciated how dog friendly the home was too, my dogs made good use of the toys and bowls they supplied as well as the “dog towels” the owner left us which was very thoughtful! My husband and I had a relaxing weekend and enjoyed fishing off the dock and kayaking.

Perfect location right on the lake! The cottage is in a very peaceful and quiet area of Lake Gaston. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, walking around the neighborhood, fires by the lake, and more. The cottage was well equipped with everything you could ever want or need. The beds were comfortable and I appreciated the over abundance of blankets throughout the house! We love a good, soft blanket. Andrea was great at communicating and quick to respond. The homemade cinnamon rolls were such a delicious and personal touch, they did not last long with our family! Would highly recommend Sunrise Cottage for your next lake stay!
Such a cozy house with THE BEST view. Watching the sunrise from the back porch was magical. Such a peaceful location. The kids loved the fire pit for s’mores! We really appreciated how well the house was stocked. Highly recommend for a nice get away!
