Welcome to Hobo Haven! Hobo Haven, our family-built home named after our beloved dog Hobo, is a charming log cabin located on two acres on Lake Gaston in Bracey, Virginia. Our three story, three bedroom, three bath home is a classic log cabin, featuring plank hard wood floors, wood beam ceilings, and, of course, beautiful hand-hewn log walls.

Our home boasts three covered and one uncovered decks, all with beautiful views of the lake. It also features a large screened-in porch, perfect for eating lunch on a warm summer day. These covered outside spaces allow you to enjoy the outdoors even in the case of bad weather. The fully equipped, open concept kitchen is ideal for preparing any meal, and features a dining room table with seating for ten, perfect for a lovely family dinner. Even on a cool autumn or winter day, cozy up next to one of two beautiful stone fireplaces, one located in the kitchen, the other in the second story family room area. Despite being a rustic log cabin, Hobo Haven still has standard modern luxuries we’ve come to expect, including three 32-inch and two 50-inch flat screen TVs, cable, telephone, air conditioning, and heat.

* Bedroom One- Master (Second Floor)—1 Queen bed, with access to outside covered deck and bathroom.
* Bedroom Two—(Third Floor)—1 Queen bed, one twin bed
* Bedroom Three—(Third Floor)—1 Queen bed, 1 toddler bed, 1 crib, with direct access to bathroom
* One queen pull out on second floor living space
* Two twin bunk beds on second floor living space nook with curtains for privacy
* One high quality, queen, blowup mattress is included. There is plenty of floor space available, if you’d like to bring additional air mattresses.
* Convertible couch on bottom level that can be used as additional sleeping space for 2 adults
* Full couch on second floor living space

Public boat launch is minutes away, both driving and by water, at the Holly Grove Marina. A huge sun deck above the lifts provides amazing, panoramic water views and great sunning opportunities. Water depth off the dock is about 14 feet, plenty deep for diving, swimming, floating and fishing. Water depth at the steps going into the water is between 3-4 feet deep, making it easy for children and pets to get in and out of the water. Please keep in mind, this rental does not include a boat. Boat rentals are available on the lake.

• 5 minutes away from Tanglewood Shores Golf and Country Club
• 11 minutes away from River Ridge Golf course
• 20 minutes away from Pino’s Pizza, Food Lion, ACE Hardware, etc. all in Littleton, NC
• 5 miles from Interstate 85 providing easy access to nearby cities and towns
• Close access to the Tobacco Heritage Trail and Liberty Hill Hiking Trail

We had a wonderful time at this very cozy lakefront house. The house was decorated for Christmas which was really nice for our holiday stay. While it wasn't warm enough for us to be outside for most of our time here, we did use the fire pit and loved ours views of the lake from virtually every room. The double living areas were much appreciated, along with the full bathrooms on all 3 floors. Great place to get away from the everyday world!

For a last minute stay in the fall, it was a nice stay. There may have been some vacancy between the last stay and ours which led to it not being as clean (kitchen, surfaces, webs across most entries to the home. Check in and out is always a breeze. Everything you will ever need to cook with.....it's here. All convenient appliances provided. Beautiful cabin right on the lake. Awesome firepit here with lots of sitting space for sitting around a nice fire at night. The house is so big making it nice for everyone to spread out and be comfy. We loved our visit. Week was awesome! Host (Gail) was very responsive! This home has everything needed for a great stay at the lake. The kids had every water toy imaginable…including a lily pad and water trampoline. The fishing from boat and bank was great. Rained a bit but the screened in porch was an awesome place to spend the day! Katie the cleaning person was so helpful when we arrived…was a long ride from DE and she allowed us early to use the bathrooms and asked if we needed anything! Wi-Fi worked great and with the streaming services we were able to enjoy the Phillies during our stay! This was our second summer staying here and look forward to many more family vacations here!

Lake vacation

The spot on the lake is perfect. The host was excellent in their communication and responsiveness. We all fell in love with the location of the property and the ease of access to the lake. Our group had planned to keep the kids entertained by going out to get ice cream etc.; however, the kids had so much fun on the lake we never had to leave the house (other than a run or two to the store). There is a dollar general market very close by and a Walmart not too far. Looking forward to making this an annual stay with our friends/family group.

Surprises Around Every Corner

This is the perfect lake property. The log cabin is stunning and the views are lovely. There are so many sitting options and so many places to cast a line. Boat ramp is super close and easily accessible which was wonderful in allowing us to keep our boat tied up in the dock. Upstairs sun deck was a perfect place to sit back, enjoy a beverage and enjoy the view.

It was a wonderful family honeymoon!

We've rented here several times. We love it! We had a wonderful vacation once again. As we've stated before, it's a little bit of a country feel but on the lake. Fishing was awesome! Grandkids had a blast swimming and fishing! Just wish we could have stayed longer. We'll be back!

Relaxing cabin

We just got home from our weekend visit. It was a short trip and wish we could have stayed longer. The house and property are very nice and just as described. I'm new to VRBO, but I'm excited for the opportunity to share the home that brings my family and me so much joy with you! I'm from Richmond, Virginia where I still live today. I have two adult daughters and am currently fostering a 5 year old child, which keeps me very busy!

Why they chose this property

This home was built by my father who was in construction. My ex-husband and I, as well as other family members, also helped in building the home. My daughter also just had her wedding at our home, which was very special and fun for all of us. For these reasons, the home has a very special place in my heart. It's been a place where my family and I have made many happy memories, and where we'll continue to in years to come. It's a very relaxing retreat from my busy life, and I hope it will be for you as well.

What makes this property unique

What I love most about this home, aside from the sentimental aspects of it, is the unique log cabin style. It's not every day that you see a true log cabin, but this is it. I love the way the sun glistens off the wood and tin roof on a bright day. I love the vaulted, wood beam ceilings. I love the decks surrounding the house providing panoramic views of the water. I love the brick walkways that contribute to the rustic feel of the home. There's nothing that I enjoy more than sitting on the porch swing, drinking a cup of hot tea while looking out onto the peaceful lake.
