the PERFECT 1 Room CABIN, Nice Deck, Deep Tub and Shower! Alp-like setting, cafe
If you are looking for a Yellowstone experience, this is it!! Our large property, only a half mile from the Park is the perfect setting to enjoy both the amazing wilderness of Yellowstone, as well as some nice amenities within walking distance!
PLEASE NOTE: During peak season we have a 4 nite minimum on this cabin unless there is a 2 nite gap in the calendar!!
The Mountain Hideaway cabin is a gorgeous handcrafted log cabin. It is bright and airy, with the best views in the valley! Enjoy the sounds and smells of the creek, and watch the sun hit the top of the highest peak from the bed.
The power can go out several times in our area due to trees hitting power lines. We have installed a Whole-house generator so that you still have lights and heat if this happens.
Silvergate is located at the NE Entrance to Yellowstone. This is the wildest and most rugged section of the Park, and just inside a few miles is the Lamar Valley, acclaimed as the best place to see wildlife. This little mountain town is very quaint, with a couple of cafes, a general store, gift shops, and several lodges. The town park has swings, picnic tables, and monkey bars.
The Mountain Hideaway is a beautifully restored log cabin, built in the 1940's and was part of a lodge that used to be on the adjacent property. We have added some wonderful comforts for you to enjoy! The cabin has big windows to see the peaks from anywhere inside. The Queen bed is comfy and has nice bedding including a comforter w duvet. We have a comfy love seat inside as well. The bathroom is sweet, with a deep soaking tub, and a separate shower. We have a breakfast bar with a sweet view. The deck is the best, and you can see the fish rising in the creek's deep blue pools! We're sure you will love the wilderness feel of this amazing location !!
You can hear the sounds of the creek as well as see the snowfields of Amphitheatre Mountain from the bed! We have a fire ring next to the creek for you to roast marshmallows! (there are often fire restrictions later in the summer)
The kitchenette has a mini-refrigerator, a bar sink, a single burner stove top, a microwave, coffee maker and a toaster oven. We also have a larger refrigerator/freezer on the deck.
We have a small flat screen with a DVD player that you can plug your I-Pod or CDs into. The deck has a bar height table with an umbrella and 3 chairs. Later in the summer when the water goes down, there's a sandy beach right in front of the deck.
Besides the Soda Butte Creek flowing by, there's a beautiful, smaller creek, Willow Creek that flows on the other side of the deck!!
This cabin is in the small town of Silvergate and we like the fact that we're not too far out in the woods, and 'in the middle of nowhere'. You can see some human activity across the creek from the cabin, but it is far enough away to still feel private to us! Because of the creekside location, large lot, and big, close up mountain views, you feel like you are having a wilderness experience just being at the cabin!
We would love to host you at our little piece of paradise. Be ready for an unforgettable trip of a lifetime!

About John and Kate Mickus
John and Kate Mickus live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The Northeast Entrance and the Beartooth Mountains have been their favorite place to recreate for decades! 'We just love this area, its like going on a remote backcountry trip but still having some great amenities and the comfort of home!' John's parents purchased the property in 1975 and have created a spectacular combo of vintage log homes and modern comforts. Our management company, Selah Montana, Inc leases the property from John's LLC, Living Water Lodge LLC. Combine this with the amazing creekside location in the Yellowstone ecosystem, and you have a vacation to remember! We're sure you will be impressed with the wildlife, mountains, and especially the beauty of our property. We look forward to hosting your family!

Why John and Kate Mickus chose Silver Gate
Because Silvergate allows us to actually 'be' in wilderness, while at the same time, have our cabin comforts. We have always enjoyed traveling and staying in places that show us the Best of the region both in natural beauty, as well as some local culture. This little mountain town has it all. And our cabins provide a peaceful, and inspiring experience! John and Kate

Great place to stay in Silver Gate
The Mountain Hideaway is just the right size for 2 people. It has facilities to cook full meals, if desired, including a gas grill. It was in great shape and very clean when we arrived. We have traveled to Yellowstone the last 5 years and have rented from the owners 3 of these years. They are fair, friendly, and very concerned about the comfort of their renters. The onsite caretakers were friendly and, most importantly, responsive to our needs. One of the great things about renting this cabin is that it is located in Silver Gate, just a mile from the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone; so easy access and a short trip to the Park. In short I would recommend this cabin to any couple who want a great place to stay near the Park. Oh, and since it's in the mountains, the views are great.
This little cabin was perfect in every way. We were lucky enough to spend 3 nights here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Located in a beautiful and peaceful setting, the cabin is cozy and comfortable. It is located a very short distance from the Northeast entrance to Yellowstone. We would highly recommend this cabin and hope to return in the future.

We loved every minute of our stay at the Mountain Hideaway Cabin! The cabin was so clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the creek running right behind the cabin and the hummingbird we got to watch right outside the window. We visited Yellowstone nearly every day since the Northeast entrance is only a mile away. We hiked to a waterfall right from the property, spent time in Cooke City and Silver Gate (both cute towns with very friendly people), and had bonfires by the sandy beach at night. We could not imagine a more beautiful, peaceful place to spend our honeymoon. It was hard to leave - we hope to be back!!
Quaint, clean and peaceful
A wonderful cozy cabin. Everything from wonderful hot showers, a comfy bed, wood for campfires, a deck to sit on and a stream to enjoy. And so close to Yellowstone!
Great place to stay and recharge!
We loved the stay in this quiet town just outside Yellowstone. We highly recommend the location if you want to unplug. And it's convenient to Lamar Valley which was our favorite part of the park.
Private,quiet,charming,comfortable with a great view
The cabin is cozy, just big enough for 2, has everything you need, clean, a great view.
This is the ideal place to base a Yellowstone vacation from!! The area is full of activities, and has some great restaurants/shopping. You can walk to Yellowstone Park from the cabin! This is a 'stand alone property', as there is not another unit next to it. Just trees, willows, and creeks! Please see our other 2 homes on the large property, VRBO #169165 and #352153
