About the host
Hosted by Mollie Harris
Born and raised in Portland, I have a lifetime love affair with the Pacific Northwest. Our family enjoys the beauty and adventure it has to offer—skiing, hiking, biking, climbing, kayaking, berry picking, brewing—aIl of it. As a mom and entrepreneur, I never sit still and love big ideas. Maury and I have dreamed for years to have a cabin in Mount Hood’s backyard wonderland, and now we can't wait to share this magical place with you.
Why they chose this property
Timberline Rim in Rhododendron is a conveniently located, quiet forested community along the Sandy River. While there are many unique cabins here (meaning closer neighbor proximity), it does still have a semi-private, peaceful feel thanks to the towering trees.
- 1 block to lodge with swimming pool, basketball, and tennis courts
- 5 minute walk to a magical Sandy River public access point at the corner of E Fir Tree Way and E Sandy River Lane. Enjoy hours of fun exploration with sand, river rocks, creek, native plants, or just lay back and close your eyes to the sounds of the rolling river.
- 10 minute pedal to Sandy Ridge Trails for premier mountain biking
- Short drive to fantastic food and beverage spots plus grocery store in Rhododendron, including some with live music, see our guidebook for recommendations.
- 20 minute drive to Government Camp, including Ski Bowl (tons of fun summer and winter activities) and Summit Pass (great for kids learning to ski or snowboard with a covered magic carpet and seasonal lessons)
- 30 minute drive to: Timberline Lodge, Snow Bunny and White River Sno-Park for sledding, Trillium Lake Trail Head and Sno Park for summer hiking and winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, and much more!

What makes this property unique
A picturesque European chalet tucked into a forested community sitting on the banks of the Sandy River, complete with a community pool and sports courts. Bigger adventures are just a 10-minute pedal away where the Sandy Ridge Trail System offers premiere mountain biking. Take a 20-minute drive to Government Camp and find all the skiing and hiking your heart desires. After an exhilarating day, slip back to the cabin and unwind in Pacific Northwest style. Relax in the skylight-covered hot tub; grill and dine al fresco; then, roast s’mores around the flickering firepit as the sun sets.
