Great beach front apartment with an ocean view in a wonderful resort on the best beach in Gulf Shores. Apartment has been recently renovated with new mattresses, TVs, and furniture; a very enjoyable and relaxing place to stay. Watch the waves roll in from the living room couch or cooking that gourmet meal with a fresh catch. Catch that important game with the brand new 50' LED TV and a second 32' LED TV in the bedroom in case others don't think the game is so important. 48 mbps Internet in the apartment, 58 cable channels with HBO, new memory foam mattresses on every bed.

Vacay 2024

We loved that the place was so close to the beach. Location was great. The beds were nice slept good. The only things that need changed is the fridge and the dining set. Better seats on the deck would be a plus. But other then that we had a great time and would book again.

Beach Family Vacation

The resort/ property was exactly as listed. The condo was spacious enough for our family of four. The bathrooms & kitchen were well equipped. The beds were comfortable. Family room had ample seating. Balcony allowed a beach view. Easy access to beach that wasn’t overcrowded & away from tourists areas. The owner was quick to reply to any questions. Thank you for our stay and sharing your piece of paradise.

Stay was good

We fished most of the time so we really didn't stay in the room that much. The beds had memory foam which made them super comfortable.

Memorial Day weekend

Loved everything about this property. The grounds and pools are well maintained. Condo was as advertised. It’s quite small but it worked for my family.

Overall great stay!

This was our second time to stay at this unit! We love the two large pools and very beautiful courtyard. The condo itself is just as pictured and described. The only issues we had was the mater bedroom tv didn’t work but we didn’t have much time to watch tv anyways and there wasn’t any outdoor furniture on the balcony. The walk to the beach is not bad at all! Would definitely recommend for a small family and we would definitely stay again if we come back to the area! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful condo with us!

We asked for Wi-Fi pass word but never received answer. The property was very nice, we really enjoyed the property and our stay. The queen bed in the master bed was terrible. My wife and I both had sore backs as it is very uncomfortable. You both just roll to the center.

Needs updates

The property is in a great location. Condo needs serious updates. Rust on appliances, oven door was broken. Furniture is broken. Tv in the bedroom didn’t work. AC went out our first morning there but it was promptly fixed. Communication with host was good. A lot of things need to be fixed and updated.

A fantastic week

We have never stayed at Fort Morgan but will definitely come back. It's beautiful and quiet compared to other beaches. The Plantations is a great resort with multiple pools, hot tubs, an on-site restaurant/bar and nowhere ever seemed crowded or loud. Beaches were clean and beautiful. The condo itself has everything you need and was nice. The condo owner was very accommodating when we needed to change the date of our stay and also very patient when I called him once we arrived with a question. Some minor things are a little dated as said in some other reviews, but nothing major. A great stay, thank you!

The property was nice. The condo was not. The tv did not work, trashy towels, pretty sure there was sand in the bed, crappy matress, the kitchen needs an update. Oven door is about to fall off , rust on the outside of the fridge, wine opener broken , no baking pans . Just not equipped properly.. i had been communicating by email with owner but when i asked about the tv no response. Will not stay there again.

Nice stay

It was a nice plce to stay with easy access to the beach. There were a couple of questions, well mainly the door. I do believe in other reviews it is mentioned, but at some point the door was kicked in or busted in and really should be fixed. Other than that it was very nice. The beds were nice and not hard to sleep in and the furniture was comfortable as well. The beach at the location is great for families due to it not being over populated. It alson is only a 12-15 min drive to the more touristy area; famliy food games, and entertainment.

Family Getaway

The resort property is beautiful and perfectly maintained. The communication with the condo owner was disappointing as we were told we could have access to the condo at 4pm but upon arrival found the unit had not been cleaned. Apparently there was an agreement for a late check out for the earlier guests and we weren't told that our access to the unit would be delayed by 90 min.

Room overall wasnt bad but refrigerator needs updated its rusted, the front door is not secure like someone tried kicking the door in at one time. Other than those items the room is very comforting and we had a pleasant stay as we always do when we come down every year

Fort Morgan/ Gulf shores

The property was perfect for our family of 4. The walk to the beach was easy and short. The kids enjoyed the pools which they only used the 2 that are close because they liked those. So we never saw the indoor pool. The property is about 15 minutes from town and that was exactly what we wanted. We didn’t want right in the middle of everything. When we wanted to go eat we drove in to gulf shores. We bought groceries at Walmart and cooked and ate sandwiches some also. There’s 2 dollar generals on the way to town if you need to grab something quickly. I would definitely stay here again. Only thing we didn’t know when we got there was there is a 20.00 parking pass you have to get before you enter the gate. But that was fine.

Great location. Unit needs updating!

We love staying at this location and have stayed in several different units and buildings. It of all the units we have stayed at on the Kiva Dunes property, this one appeared the oldest and had the most small inconveniences. Some examples that need to have attention: The cooking pans are all in horrible shape. They are unusable and rusted. We could not cook in those and had to make due with other cookware. The cabinets and drawers have tape that is peeling off and catch on clothing and other items. The water pressure in the kitchen is very low. Easier to get water from the sink in the bathroom. The shower faucet leaks horribly and the water leaking is HOT! I squealed loud enough for the family to hear while showering several times. And... the beds in the room with multiple beds were not comfortable. However, the main bed that my parents stayed on was great. Again the location is amazing and the pools, hot tub, parking, property manager, and laundry was all great. The unit needs updating and it will be back to great. Thanks for great memories. We will be back.

Cleaning staff was rude

In our welcome letter from the owner it stated we could call and request a later check out to the cleaning staff when I did so she was rude called me a lier that the owner did not say I could do that when I had a signed copy from him stating it and she hung up on me also the kitchen sink kept backing up filling up with water we could not use the dishwasher or sink to wash dishes when we was told to make sure they was clean when we called to have it looked at once again she same lady would not come out refused said we had to email the owner which lives in Germany said he had to email her in return to give her permission to work on it when the letter also stated to call her for anything that needed fixing cause her husband was the handyman we paid a cleaning fee a pretty stout one at that all to be treated rude by these people that was getting our money when I emailed the owner about it all he did was apologize instead of giving us a late check out and making her come fix the sink

Owner lied in description and does not have access to amenities!!!

I specifically booked this property because I knew it was Spring Break with unpredictable weather and an indoor pool and a gym were advertised in the listing. I even sent a message the day after booking because I had read in a different post that there was construction so access to these amenities might be closed. The owner replied the construction was done and all amenities open however they did not let us know that they did not pay their HOA fees and therefore we were not allowed to use the amenities!!! Our spring break was ruined with temperatures in the 40s and very high winds the beach was just too cold to really enjoy so an indoor pool was definitely a necessity! The owners did were not apologetic in the least and did not offer any consolation. Additional notes: If you are a clean freak this place is not very clean (the baseboards need to be scrubbed with brillo the dirt is so embedded, and it smells moldy.) Also if you value safety then this is again not the place for you. It looks like someone previously broke in and the whole door jam and door is cracked which was repaired with glue and screws but barely latched. There is no working dead bolt only the handle lock which poorly latches. It truly is a safety hazard because a 12 year old could put a little shoulder into it and break in.

Disappointing and inadequately supplied condo

Initially owner prompt with reply. Upon arrival at 1215, I always rewash dishes, don’t trust others cleanliness. Only one coffee cup which was cracked and chipped on the rim, three plates, mind you this condo says will sleep 6, 3 forks, beds in first bedroom only had comforter on them, no sheets, we had to make up the beds. I contacted owner, Jeff said he had ordered dishes 2 weeks prior to our stay. The next day mid morning, Marla and another woman brought the order, came in and left it for us to unpack. Service for four on plate set, 2 service sets of utensils, new comforters. New pots and pans set, and glasses which all were broken but 4 glasses. I was unable to cook the first night and the next morning for my family. I asked for compensation for the inconvenience and the fact we would had to drive back into town 12 plus miles, for dinner and breakfast, we were told we could stay an extra day. Who can just on a whim stay and extra day? Not people who work. I emailed and explained we all had to be back at work and pictures to the owner so he could see the condition of the condo. I’m still waiting on legitimate compensation. Won’t hold my breath. As far as the beach, it was lovely and we enjoyed it tremendously. Found lots of seashells. Got to watch dolphins daily. Will return to the beach again, just not in this condo.

Good - BUT with a few "fixes" could be GREAT!

We loved the location at Gulf Shores Plantation- however, a few fixes would make this property great. 1.The deadbolt on door does not work - not that we felt unsafe, but it would be reassuring to most to have that fixed, even a chain lock would help. 2. We had issues with water pressure in kitchen-bathrooms were fine, but at most, we'd get a little stream of water so I usually filled pitcher of hot water from bathroom and filled kitchen sink for dishes. Perhaps a new faucet would fix that. (I'm thinking now we should have contacted maintenance, but we just dealt with it). 3. Refrigerator is really rusty on outside - maybe a can of appliance paint would cover it and make it look better. 4. We did spend a few hours on a rainy day on our hands and knees scrubbing the ceramic tile - mostly around the edges near the walls and in bathrooms! I understand that cleaning services do not have/take the time to do this - BUT it should be done and we loved having clean floors. (I did take before and after pics .... but maybe I'm OCD about cleanliness). 4. Some of the kitchen items need replacing - we went to WalMart and bought a new fry pan, cookie sheet, and potholders (there were none). Overall, our stay was just fine, the furniture/beds were great, quiet location, beautiful grounds, and the beach was awesome. We are not fussy people, and we hate to be complainers, but these minor fixes would make this unit really nice! Would I recommend this unit, ABSOLUTELY - hopefully these minor fixes will be taken care of and you will have a great time!!

Good property

The property is very good. The unit was a bit outdated. Ceiling peeling in shower. Needs to be repainted. Needs more cooking pans etc. That being said it was functional. Love the availability of hot tubs and pools.

Affordable, close to beach

There was a lot of rust and dust but it was an affordable beach front rental. Everything was in working order. Expect to pay parking fee at security entrance. Indoor pool card was available in kitchen. Pots and pans were limited and old. No pot holders and a basic coffee pot provided . The front door is definitively ajar and cracked down the inside of edge, and you could probably slide a card down and open the door to the room. We had to call the owner for Wi-Fi password. There was a few handwritten notes for checkout and one email with directions to rental but other than that there was not a ton of information as I’ve seen with other rentals in this area. There could be more information pertaining to the site amenities as we’ve stayed in other rentals here. I would not stay here again.

Nice location but very outdated

Overall, the location was great for our family. The balcony had a nice view, but most of the chairs were broken so we couldn’t all enjoy it. As soon as we walked in the condo, the smell was overpowering. It had a very musty smell mixed with stale smoke. We tried to get rid of the smell, but it was impossible. The pots, pans, and dishes were dirty. We washed everything before we used them, but some were so old/rusted/scratched I didn’t feel comfortable using them. The comforters were very old and looked dirty, one even had a hole in the side where the stuffing was coming out. I understand the condo’s price is very reasonable for the location, but clearly we found out why.

My father is from the Gulf Coast of Alabama and I have been vacationing in Gulf Shores my whole life since I was a tyke the early 60s. I have been to beaches all over the world and these are among the nicest I know of anywhere. Fort Morgan is a special place and the Gulf Shores Plantation Resort offered us everything we wanted right there in one place, where we wanted it, Fort Morgan. The beaches at the resort are fabulous- white sand, beautiful water, herons that walk right by you, pelicans, and wide open pristine beaches.
