About The Owner

We were born and raised in northern California and have two grown sons. We love the outdoors and nature. Our favorite destinations are the mountains and the coast. We love hiking, fly fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, exploring the back roads and of course relaxing at the cabin with something cold to drink.

What makes this house unique

Being only 7 miles from Lassen Park, our rental is the closest and it is the perfect location for anyone wanting to visit and explore this unique area. Getting away from the crowds and enjoying clean mountain air are two great reasons to visit our cabin. This is a true mountain cabin, uniquely decorated, but with all the comforts of home. The cabin is surrounded by forestland ready to be hiked and explored. You can also relax on the front deck or BBQ out back and watch the wildlife while listening to the sounds of rushing water. On most star filled nights you can look for the big dipper or other constellations or watch for satellites and falling stars. There are streams and lakes to be fished just a short distance from the cabin.

The house was very well supplied. We found everything we needed and were quite comfortable.

The cabin was located so close to Lassen National Park that we could get to the trail head easily. We enjoyed all the hikes we took. We came back to the cabin and easily cooked nice dinners, which we ate outside. We had a nice campfire, too!

Lovely stay!

It was a long drive from Arcata across 299 to 44 and finally to the mountain home and well worth the trip. Upon arriving Nancy, Jenny and I explored the house and grounds and were amazed at how wonderful everything was. After bringing in our gear we sat on the front porch and enjoyed the smell of the trees and the fresh air. Mary, thanks for advising about the camp across the way. They do get somewhat loud but, knowing in advance we were not bothered by it. The work you did on the house is amazing. I truly admire your restoration work since we have been working on our house restoration for about 36 years; it was built in 1928.

The kitchen was so well stocked that we did not need for anything except of course our food. The rooms are all very well appointed and quite comfortable. We enjoyed the history material in the house it was all very interesting.

Our excursions to Lassen were thrilling to say the least. We did many miles of walking and took lots of pictures.

Sometimes it is hard to put into words how happy you are that you stayed at a particular place. The best I can say is Mary and Curt have provided a little bit of Heaven on Earth.

Thank you again for helping to make our vacation an everlasting memory.

Very nice cabin.

  • 5 of 5

This is a perfect place to stay if you are visiting Lassan national park. The cabin was clean and comfortable. There was a nice area in the back to sit and relax. It was obvious the owners take great care in making it an excellent rental. The details about everything in the cabin and how everything worked, where to find everything was extremely well thought out. The kitchen had everything you could ever want to prepare food. My wife and I will recommend this cabin to our friends .

Great secluded get-a-way!

  • 5 of 5

Every summer we travel to National Parks and stay in cabins. This rental has become one of our lodging favorites and we wished we could have stayed longer. We hiked each day in Lassen and looked forward to coming back to the Lucky Pinecone each evening. So clean and well maintained with all the comforts of home. Relaxing on the front porch each night was a highlight of the day. We loved hearing the hustle and bustle of the camp across the way. (Children having fun is a good thing!) Hopefully our travels will bring us back in this direction and we will be able to stay again at the Lucky Pinecone.

So Comfy!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was such a delight to stay in and so thoughtfully prepared. There were so many little touches adding to the convenience of being away from home. The huge collection of dvds were a hit, the porch was relaxing, and the kitchen especially had everything we needed and more. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Noise from the kids' camp across the road was very disappointing

  • 2 of 5

The cabin itself is very nice, but the the noise from the P.A. system and the amplified music coming from the kids' camp across the road made this a very disappointing stay for my wife and I.
