We custom built this home in 2005... a beautiful location with so much to explore or just to get away from it all and relax.
You can never be sure if what you see online will live up to your expectations, but this home was not disappointing. It is clean and well kept and accommodated our group of five (3 adults and 2 teenagers) very well. Mark responded very quickly and helpfully with a couple of minor issues we had upon arrival. We would not hesitate to rent this property again.
We had a great time in this spacious home. The house was very clean and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. There were three nice comfortable bedrooms; one especially large bedroom had many beds. We loved the movies and puzzles. The kitchen was large and well equipped. It was nice they allow guests to leave foods in the pantry for others. The house was well located to explore Lassen, Burnley Falls, etc.
This home is plenty comfortable and spacious. We visited during a particularly hot week in early July, and worried that the lack of AC would be a problem. However the house is well equipped with ceiling fans and screened windows, and we had no trouble keeping the place cool.
It's also very well laid out for families with kids -- our young kids had a great time there. And best of all, there were many deer that came through the property in the morning and evening. This was a real treat for the kids.
I'd highly recommend this place. Plus Mark is a very gracious and accommodating host, and was quick and thorough with his answers.
The home is wonderful. It's pretty and clean. The parking is ample. The property sits in a residential area, where the homes are on large lots. It is very peaceful. I love the entry outside. I bet it's great when it is snowing.
The beds are comfortable. The house doesn't have cable, but they have several movies to choose from. I think I even left one of mine in the dvr. They have Wi-Fi. I have AT&T and had no signal inside the house. So I messaged people from Facebook. Oh well.
There are plenty of towels and bedding. It was a really good place. It is so close to Mt. Lassen.
I will gladly stay here again.
Here are a few of the negatives. I only list them, so you'll know this review is legit. There aren't many large mixing bowls. Like zero. I cooked a huge breakfast to take to my cousins house down the way, and I would have loved some mixing bowls. There is no cheese grater, but there is a food processor, so I used it. I would also like to see a few casserole dishes. That's just me. They duo have a few spices and some cooking oil. That is so sweet. They even had coffee. I don't know if someone left it, or if they provide it, but it was wonderful. The coffee pot is tricky, but someone smarter than me figured it out. I flooded the counter twice.
Also. There were some carpenter ants in the kitchen and bathroom. On the floor. I mean it's the wilderness, so frankly I'm happy the carpenter ants weren't giant spiders. I spoke with the owner and he had done a barrier spray outside. It may have just brought a few into the house.
We had a great time at the house! We got the full winter experience, with snow, a fireplace, and icy lakes- it was amazing!
Thank you so much for the experience, we'd love to come back next winter!
Property was as listed, in fact the pictures don't do it justice. The property was well maintained with everything in good working order. Mark was exceptionally attentive and provided an excellent service, with all the information we needed and more. I will definitely be back, we want to see the area in winter, I have already recommended this property to two of my colleagues at work. The property is supper close to Lassen Park entrance and yet only 30 minutes from Redding. We really enjoyed all of Lassen Park, Subway Cave, Burney Falls, Lake Almanor and Spatter Cone Trail.
There are over 150 miles of hiking trails within the Mt Lassen Volcanic Park which range in difficulty from a strenuous 5 mile round-trip hike up to Lassen Peak to a gentle 1.85 mile stroll around Manzanita Lake. If you are up for a day trip be sure to visit the 129-foot Burney Falls, which is not the highest waterfall in the state but possibly the most beautiful! You might also want to explore an underground lava tube located just 35 minutes away at Subway Cave...
