About the property

Villa, 8 Bedrooms, 8.5 Baths, (Sleeps 16)

Villa Paraiso--where the sky meets the sea above the shimmering waters of Tamarindo Bay, Costa Rica. Originally built in 1995, the home was transformed in 2011 into an oasis of luxury featuring 8 bedrooms, 8 ½ baths. Each bedroom features an en suite bathroom with double sinks, 42” plasma TV, high end beds/linens, and spectacular décor and finishes. The sprawling grounds are connected by a reflecting pool running the length of the property and the infinity swimming pool will leave you more than refreshed as you take in the truly breathtaking view above the waves, beaches, coves and estuaries of gorgeous Playa Tamarindo.

The kitchen has been designed for the discerning food lover, with Professional Series stainless equipmen, two refrigerators, two wall mounted ovens, two dishwashers, 5 burner gas cooktop and wine cooler. Just outside to the West, the outdoor grill island and wet bar will help you prepare your days “catch”. All of this is intermingled with the huge entertainment room with ample seating areas and is a space that seamlessly blends from indoors to outdoors. Off the southern edge of the kitchen/great room, enjoy the 16 person outdoor dining pavilion with integrated power roller blinds. Relax on the sunset terrace, enjoy the sundeck on your chaise lounge or just take a seat and overlook the infinity pool as the sun sinks into the Pacific.

While all of the bedrooms in Villa Paraiso are amazing, one stands above the rest. The “Cielos” Penthouse Suite is the crown jewel of the home. Perched above the pool, the Cielos Suite will drape you in luxury with your own private terrace and floor to ceiling views…truly spectacular.

For those travelling with children--we have two twin size roll away beds available as well as a pack and play at no additional charge.

We invite you to join us in our tropical paradise, Villa Paraiso. A vacation you will never forget!

Greatly surpassed our expectations

  • 5 of 5

I can not say enough great things about Villa Paraiso and Blue Water Properties. Everything was spectacular! I felt like we had arrived at paradise as soon as the gates slowly opened, revealing the Villa we had hoped for. The grounds, babbling brook, the view was almost more than I could take in! Amazing! Our group of 10 found their rooms with ease. There are 4 guest cottage like rooms, 3 rooms in the main house and one luxurious master suite upstairs with magnificent views of everything! It was extremely private and a great escape when needed. All of the furnishings, art work, and amenities were more than satisfactory! The house is beautiful!!! The comfortable beds were the best amenity according to everybody in our group!

Ingrid made us a delicious breakfast each morning as well as cleaned the house each day. She was precious! Leon arrived at 6:00 each night to keep watch for us! Very kind and we felt safe! We hired Fabien Mandrea to cook for us 4 nights. All of his dishes were delicious and he was a delight to be around! It was great having him prepare dinner we could enjoy without worrying about food allergies.

Marcelo and Fiorella arranged all of our excursions before we arrived. They even arranged a rental car for us which the need for one is a toss up. It was nice to have a car but you can easily get taxis or vans to take you wherever you need to go. Marcelo stocked our Villa with groceries from our list before we got there. Very helpful! Thank you, Marcelo!

Our excursions included the sunset catamaran trip, zip lining, deep sea fishing and an ATV tour. We had a blast doing everything! Fiorella set up a half day at the spa de Eros which is #1 in the world of luxury spas for a reason! It was my favorite day! A piece of heavenly peace!!! Do not miss this wonderful experience!

Thank you so much, Blue Water Properties, for everything you did to make our stay at Villa Paraiso our best vacation ever! It will be a memory we will never forget!

A week in paradise.

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about our stay at this luxury villa. We took our family of 12 all adults, grandmas too. The house is suitable for any large family. We were lucky enough to be in the master suite which is breath taking. There was nothing better than waking up opening your eyes to see the amazing views. However there really isn't a bad room in this home. There was plenty of space to spread out but everyone congregated on the back porch around the pool. It couldn't have been more perfect to sit and enjoy the sunsets. In the mornings Ingrid the sweet house keeper made a customary breakfast spread. It was delicious!! She then cleaned leaving the place immaculate. While we were in Tamarindo we took advantage of some of the incredible things to do. Bluewater Properties arranged everything for us. Allen did a magnificent job delivering groceries and sandwiches for our arrival. He set up our transportation to and from the airport. Booked out private sunset cruise, River Jungle tour and ATV and Zip lining trip. We arranged through Bluewaters an amazing chef that they highly recommended. They were right, Fabien's ,meals were 5 star. Everything was perfect. Bluewater Properties was available for anything we needed. In fact Allen drove up the long bumpy hill once just to check and make sure everything was going well. We were all sad to leave and hope to go back soon.

Beautiful home, magnificent views, long walk

  • 4 of 5

Overall I would say we loved our vacation here. We were a large family celebrating our parents 60th Wedding Anniversary, and we will take home a lot of special memories. However, I wouldn't recommend this house to everyone.

Pros:- the house is beautiful, with plenty of space for everyone. We were a larger extended family of 14, and everyone had their own bedrooms and bathrooms. The common rooms and patio area were comfortable and nicely decorated. Beds were a little hard for our tastes, but not too bad.

Staff was AMAZING! Our housekeeper made a delicious breakfast each morning and kept the house immaculate, the Private Chef (Kattya) we booked for 4 nights was FANTASTIC! The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the presentation was beautiful. Would highly recommend booking a chef for a few nights- Makes the vacation even more special. The security guard who comes on duty each night was professional and polite. The pool is perfect- somehow manages to stay cool even after the hot days. So refreshing! Spent a lot of time in the pool with the most amazing views! Best sunsets!

Cons: The house is located up a VERY steep mountainside. Previous reviewers indicated it was a nice walk to town- It was a very difficult walk, on a very narrow dirt road. I made the trek down and up once, and after that had to call for a car service every time we wanted to go to town or the beach. We ran out of water twice, and power once. We had to call maintenance more that once for leaking toilets, broken shower handle and broken chair. Had a bug infestation in one of the casita bathrooms- Maintenance did come over when we called and were efficient in fixing the issues, but for the price we were paying, I expected better quality. There is a lot of construction going on in neighboring homes-Due to the narrow roads, the construction workers blocked the entrance to our house, and taxi's couldn't always get to us. Plus a lot of noise and dust!

Overall, I would say we enjoyed the vacation- But the difficulty in getting back and forth to town and the maintenance issues we encountered would prevent us from renting this house again. Would look for a home closer to the beach.

Owner's Response: Hi Mary. Thanks for the review and it sounds like you had a great time with our team overall including Ingrid and Chef Kattya. In terms of the maintenance issues you encountered-anything reported was and always is attended to as soon as possible and I will say that we have the BEST team when it comes to service hands down. The issues you had were fixed right away. Unfortunately things like running out of water or the electric going out is obviously out of our control. The property has a back up tank, but if the water company has a broken water main, etc, then we send a water truck up, which we did. I think it would be clear between the photos and the description to get an amazing ocean view, you have to be up on a hill, which Villa Pariaso is. We have had many guests that enjoy the walk, but I agree it's not for those who are not in good shape. Taxis (which are inexpensive in town) and a golf cart are recommended for those who don't want to walk or have a rental car. Lastly, regarding the dust, it was a windy week while you were here, which doesn't help the situation with the dust, but I know the housekeeper Ingrid does an amazing job keeping the property impeccable. All the best, Becky Clower & the Team at Blue Water Properties of Costa Rica

amazing stay at villa paraiso!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just returned from a week's vacation at Villa Paraiso -- there were 18 of us, group of all ages ranging from 21-60. We had an absolute blast! The layout of the villa is ideal for a large group, still offering privacy in each bedroom (each with their own bathroom). The views and grounds of the property are gorgeous, truly making you feel like you are in paradise. The outdoor living space is wonderful since all you really want to do, is be outside enjoying the weather and the views. While walkable to town and/or the beach, it's up on a cliff so bring walking shoes! Super easy drive, however, and worth it to head into town. The staff is fabulous, catering to your every need. We did the ATV adventure, which was great, saw some amazing beaches (my favorite being Playa Conchal) and also did the catamaran boat trip including snorkeling and an amazing sunset view - we even saw a whale! I would definitely come back to this house again, truly amazing!

The most amazing views

  • 5 of 5

Just spent 5 of the best days at this mountain top house. Given it's location -- on a hilltop but only a 5 minute walk to the beach -- it is the best combination of views and access you could possibly hope for. The house's layout provides maximum views while also providing maximum comfort. The individual bedroom/bathroom scenario afforded privacy and space but due to the property layout you are constantly in contact with nature and feel completely relaxed. I will be back next year to enjoy this spectacular villa again.

High Point of our trip

  • 5 of 5

Our stay there was the high point of our trip in Costa Rica. Villa Paraiso literally sits on top of Tamarindo. Comfortably installed in one of the chairs strategically placed in the many angles of the terrace, you get these amazing views of the entire region, in itself almost a geography lesson, with the sea right in front, the estuary on your right with the view extending for miles to the towns around. And the sunset view is absolutely gorgeous. While here, we visited extensively that part of beautiful Guanacaste. The beach in Playa Grande, on the other side of the estuary, is amazing, but also we enjoyed visiting other less known more secluded areas, like Bahia de Pirata and Playa Conchal, places that are favored by the local population. There are also some remarkable restaurants in the area, the best being Deevena in Playa Negra, where we had a family dinner (wonderful wine list) closely followed by Patagonia, which offers a very authentic experience of Argentinian food. And it is close by, right down the winding road leading to central Tamarindo. The staff of Villa Paraiso is very professional and friendly and the amenities are very luxurious. We had a very enjoyable stay there.
