Overview

About the property

Cabin w/ mountain view, 2 bedrooms + sleeper sofa, 2.5 Bath, (4-5 guests max)

Walden’s View is in a private, elevated location with beautiful mountain views and glimpses of the lush valley below. It is perfect for a couple or a small family.

It is a true log cabin with all-wood tongue and groove interior and salvaged wood floors, a cathedral ceiling and wood spiral staircase. The kitchen boasts reclaimed barnwood cabinetry and stainless appliances. Not an inch of sheetrock, wall to wall carpeting or ceiling tiles! There is no place quite like it.

From the front deck you can listen to the tree frogs, or hear an occasional moo from a cow or gobble from a wild turkey in the valley below. Fireflies light the summer night sky and the scent of honeysuckle fills the air in the spring.

In the living room you can curl up in front of the wood-burning stone fireplace on the sleeper sofa. Entertainment includes a 42” plasma tv with satellite and Blu-ray.

The cozy queen bedroom is on the main level and has an LCD flat screen satellite tv. The main level has a full bathroom with shower/tub combination as well as a separate half bath.

The circular staircase leads to the loft where you can play pool while watching the game on a flatscreen tv. A second bedroom and bath with shower are also upstairs. This bedroom provides a twin over full futon bunk bed, with a very comfortable deluxe futon mattress, and a flatscreen tv with Wii.

The front deck offers a gas grill. Return from a busy day at Dollywood or from hiking through the Park, turn on the string lights and some music, grill a steak, pour a drink and relax in the hot tub!

From “Walden’s View” you can be in Pigeon Forge in less than 15 minutes for all the action, or go to the quieter side, where you’ll find Cades Cove and an entrance to the National Park. In either direction the drive through the valley is stunning. Walden’s Creek Stables is just one mile away for horseback riding and western shows during the summer months. Whaley’s, an upscale grocery store, is just 6 miles away!

We live 4 hours from our cabin, so our friends at 'Great Cabins in the Smokies' manage the property locally. This means you can rest assured there is local assistance if you have any problems.

The cabin also has wireless internet.

Note: Our cabin is at the top of the road, which is what provides such a nice view. It is pretty steep and some people find it scary (mainly our guests from flat areas like Florida). We've zipped up and down in our Honda Odyssey minivan for six years now. In May of 2017 we paved the portion of the road closest to our cabin. We hope this will be a great benefit to our guests!

About David & Perry Anne Scott

We purchased our cabin in 2011 and enjoyed getting it ready to use and to share. We named it “Walden’s View” to honor the incredible beauty of the Walden's Creek area in which it is located. We live in Atlanta and take every opportunity to come up to the cabin and make improvements, so it is always getting better. We want our guests to feel as delighted when they walk in as we do every time we arrive.

Why David & Perry Anne Scott chose East

We love the mountains and our three kids love all the attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We spent two years looking for just the right place! It is a blessing to leave the traffic of Atlanta behind and 'head for the hills'!

What makes this cabin unique

We love the National Park and Cades Cove, horseback riding at Walden's Creek Stables, renting boats at Douglas Lake and going into Pigeon Forge for attractions and dining. The best part is getting out of the city and into the quiet, peaceful surroundings of the mountains.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a fantastic time here in Tennessee. We enjoyed Walden's View very much. The cabin was perfect for our family of 3. There is so much to do and see here. We will be back soon!

Beautiful View

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from a week's stay at Walden's View. A very nice cabin. I loved sitting on the porch drinking coffee enjoying the gorgeous view. Our kids loved climbing on the rock wall next to the driveway. The only issues we had was the drive up to the cabin. Extremely steep and would recommend 4-wheel drive vehicles. Also, I think the lighting in the front bathroom (tub) needs to be replaced. It is like a motion sensor light, so it keeps going off while trying to shower.

Extremely Disappointed!!

  • 1 of 5

Rented this cabin Sept 26th - 29th, 2016...very disappointed. No road signage for cabin location, steep gravel drive with large ruts, large chips in dishes, dead bugs on inside window ledges, stains on mattress pad in master bedroom (thank goodness we brought our own sheets) as well as a couple of dead bugs between sheets and mattress pad, slimy water ring build up in all bathrooms, tons of rust in bottom of dishwasher, sticky residue on arm of recliner, serious dust build up throughout this cabin. This cabin has not had a deep cleaning in years. Has potential to be a great cabin if drive was paved and it gets a deep deep cleaning.

Owner's Response: Our heartfelt goal is for each guest to be completely delighted with every aspect of our cabin. We received this information the week after the guest checked out. We promptly acted to address each concern so that no guest in the future experiences disappointment. Our property management company is removing chipped dishes and replacing the mattress pad. They are also ensuring Iron Out is used in the sink, toilets and dishwasher bottom at each cleaning. They are working with the county to replace the road sign. While the drive up to the cabin is indeed steep and graveled, we have never had a problem getting up and down in our Nissan Altima and Honda Odyssey minivan. We are working with neighbors in hopes of getting the road paved but so far few are interested in the $20k investment. Please see other reviews from many who have stayed and been delighted. Our deepest apologies for the disappointment of last week's guest. We are grateful they provided a detailed list for us to act upon with immediacy!

Nice stay!!

  • 3 of 5

We just returned from a week's stay at Walden's View. A very nice cabin with room for us and our mini doxie. The only issues we had was the drive up to the cabin. Extremely steep and would recommend 4-wheel drive vehicles. Also, we feel that additional lighting in the main bathrooms would be a benefit.

Exceeded expectations!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was everything we had hoped it would be and more. We loved being out away from city lights and noise. The view was fantastic and the decor was cozy and comfortable. We were very pleased with all of the amenities: hot tub, fireplace, grill, number of bathrooms, the kitchen supplies. The road out and up to the cabin is adventurous. We had one issue with the furnace, called property manager and they had a repairman out in an hour. Fortunately we had the fireplace and I just made a fire. The property manager made sure we had plenty of firewood. We would stay here again without hesitation. Sitting on the deck in the early morning with a cup of coffee was my favorite part of the stay.

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful!!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was just as described and far exceeded my expectations! The cabin was clean, wonderfully decorated, and had everything we needed. The only extra we brought was laundry soap and food (of course). Luckily for us, the weather was beautiful so we did not spend much time indoors, but our favorite part of the cabin BY FAR was the hotub. Great views of the mountains off the back deck. Quiet and peaceful. We did have quite a few little lizards and got paid a visit by the raccoon but they were no bother.

There is one neighbor right next door, as described to me by the owners. You can just barely see their home through the trees, but it still felt like we were the only ones there. The climb up the cabin driveway starts off steep, so just be prepared.

We enjoyed the sky lift in Gatlinburg as well as the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery. We also checked out the brewhaus, which has some great microbrews! Go see the Tuckaleechee Caverns or take a drive on some of the back roads by the cabin - it's beautiful country. The week flew by and on the drive home, I was wishing we had more time.

This cabin is absolutely gorgeous and so reasonable. I would definitely recommend this and would stay again without hesitation. Thank you so much!

Exceeded Expectations...

  • 5 of 5

As I was driving down the back-country roads, winding my way to a never-seen property, I was leery of feeling any excitement about my week-long stay in the Great Smokies. Pictures and descriptions can be deceiving, and rental agencies are notorious for trumpeting properties beyond their worth. Imagine my surprise when I made the final turn up the mountain only to be greeted by such a charming, private, and tranquil cabin nestled in the gorgeous local mountains of Pigeon Forge/Sevierville. From it's marvelous vista of the wrap-around porch, to the two-story high stone fireplace, to the circular staircase leading up to the pool room, this delightful country cabin was all it claimed to be and more. The rates are very affordable, the location is ideal and the cottage itself is quaint and comfy. As a writer, I look for PRIVACY and TRANQUILITY to get the creative juices flowing. This property gave me both. THANK YOU WALDEN'S VIEW. I will be back!
