Overview

About the property

Cabin w/ mountain view, 2 bedrooms + sleeper sofa, 2.5 Bath, (4-5 guests max)

Walden’s View is in a private, elevated location with beautiful mountain views and glimpses of the lush valley below. It is perfect for a couple or a small family.

It is a true log cabin with all-wood tongue and groove interior and salvaged wood floors, a cathedral ceiling and wood spiral staircase. The kitchen boasts reclaimed barnwood cabinetry and stainless appliances. Not an inch of sheetrock, wall to wall carpeting or ceiling tiles! There is no place quite like it.

From the front deck you can listen to the tree frogs, or hear an occasional moo from a cow or gobble from a wild turkey in the valley below. Fireflies light the summer night sky and the scent of honeysuckle fills the air in the spring.

In the living room you can curl up in front of the wood-burning stone fireplace on the sleeper sofa. Entertainment includes a 42” plasma tv with satellite and Blu-ray.

The cozy queen bedroom is on the main level and has an LCD flat screen satellite tv. The main level has a full bathroom with shower/tub combination as well as a separate half bath.

The circular staircase leads to the loft where you can play pool while watching the game on a flatscreen tv. A second bedroom and bath with shower are also upstairs. This bedroom provides a twin over full futon bunk bed, with a very comfortable deluxe futon mattress, and a flatscreen tv with Wii.

The front deck offers a gas grill. Return from a busy day at Dollywood or from hiking through the Park, turn on the string lights and some music, grill a steak, pour a drink and relax in the hot tub!

From “Walden’s View” you can be in Pigeon Forge in less than 25 minutes for all the action, or go to the quieter side, where you’ll find Cades Cove and an entrance to the National Park. In either direction the drive through the valley is stunning. Walden’s Creek Stables is just one mile away for horseback riding and western shows during the summer months. Whaley’s, an upscale grocery store, is just 6 miles away!

We live 4 hours from our cabin, so our friends at 'Great Cabins in the Smokies' manage the property locally. This means you can rest assured there is local assistance if you have any problems.

The cabin also has wireless internet.

Note: Our cabin is at the top of the road, which is what provides such a nice view. It is pretty steep and is a private road that is mostly gravel (portions are paved). A four wheel drive is recommended. But just so you know, we've zipped up and down the road for years in a Honda Odyssey minivan. :) It's scary the first time and then less scary each time thereafter.

About David & Perry Anne Scott

We purchased our cabin in 2011 and enjoyed getting it ready to use and to share. We named it “Walden’s View” to honor the incredible beauty of the Walden's Creek area in which it is located. We live in Atlanta and take every opportunity to come up to the cabin and make improvements, so it is always getting better. We want our guests to feel as delighted when they walk in as we do every time we arrive.

Why David & Perry Anne Scott chose Sevierville

We love the mountains and our three kids love all the attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We spent two years looking for just the right place! It is a blessing to leave the traffic of Atlanta behind and 'head for the hills'!

What makes this cabin unique

We love the National Park and Cades Cove, horseback riding at Walden's Creek Stables, renting boats at Douglas Lake and going into Pigeon Forge for attractions and dining. The best part is getting out of the city and into the quiet, peaceful surroundings of the mountains.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a fantastic time here in Tennessee. We enjoyed Walden's View very much. The cabin was perfect for our family of 3. There is so much to do and see here. We will be back soon!

This cabin was really awesome. Everything was clean. Beds were comfortable. Views were amazing!

  • 5 of 5

This property is secluded even though there are other cabins near it. Everything was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms were very spacious and well stocked with towels and linens. The kitchen was also roomy but could use a little more light. We were very pleased with this property.

Nice cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay - just thought I'd add a few observations from our stay that might be helpful for the owners and future renters:

1. Our kids loved the second floor pool table and having their own bathroom. They basically took it over during our stay and that worked well for us.

2. The wi-fi in the cabin is weak and cell service is really weak. This wasn't a huge deal for us except when we wanted to buy tickets to a local attraction or know how long it would take to drive somewhere. Of course, we realize that part of the reason you go to the mountains and woods is to disconnect.

3. The upstairs "kids" bedroom is directly over the downstairs master bedroom and the second floor and bunk bed squeak - a lot. This isn't a problem when everyone's asleep, but with kids getting up or moving through the night, it made for a restless night or two.

4. The cabin could have been cleaner - bathrooms and kitchen were super clean but floors, walls, and surfaces could use a deeper clean/dusting (we found old food under the table and disturbed several cobwebs). Not a deal-breaker, but something to note. We visited over a very busy holiday so I think the cleaning crew was swamped. Not a deal-breaker for us.

5. The view from the cabin isn't quite as nice as the pictures show. There is a lot of undergrowth that has grown since the pictures were taken that block much of the view. Again, not a deal-breaker, but we were disappointed.

6. The kitchen is super well stocked - the only item I'd recommend adding is an ice cream scoop for hot summer days!

We really did enjoy our time visiting and the kids especially enjoyed the ride up the drive to the cabin - it's a bit of an adventure but totally doable.

Thank you!
