About John Soter

The owners are John & Shelly Soter, As a 30 year Carpenter. I always wanted to build my Mother a house. Since she would not move to TN. We built her a vacation home. Everything was hand crafted with allot of love and creativity. Now both of our parents, have this beautiful piece of the mountains to enjoy anytime they want. And we would like to share it with you as well.

John Soter purchased this cabin in 2010

Why John Soter chose Sevierville

We bought this property with a vision of the most amazing Log Cabin I could dream up. When we found this land at the dead end of the street. Then climbed to the top and saw the views, we knew this was going to be ours. It was one of the most amazing properties we had ever seen. After a year of allot of hard work. We finished building 1 of a Kind.

What makes this cabin unique

360 Views, Completely private but close to everything, Can see for Miles, Fire Pit is awesome, The King size Log bed is extremely comfortable, The shower is extra large with 4 shower heads, Custom shower upstairs, Handmade furniture, Cedar staircase, Custom original art work. Amazing place to relax.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This cabin is so quaint and cozy, and the views--the views--SPECTACULAR!!! As for the listing description--it was spot on. The location--was peaceful and breathtaking. The amenities--everything we needed to make a lovely meal. All I had to do was bring my own food. I spoke with the owner several times by telephone, who was accommodating to all my questions prior to booking our stay at 1 of a Kind. We loved that we were able to bring along our four-legged babies (Izzy and Sam). They enjoyed running around and sniffing everything. We even made a friend with the local dog that visited us on our arrival evening and kept coming back every morning and evening during our entire stay. The cabin was away from all the hustle and bustle of the city, but only minutes away. We were able to get to all the major attractions in under 20 minutes--most within 10 minutes or less. We drove the Cades Cove loop and saw plenty of deer and a few elk grazing. We drove through the National Park and went waterfall hunting. We shopped in Gatlinburg, and had a picnic at a local picnic area before we hiked Rainbow Falls. We've already raved to all our friends about 1 of a Kind, and will definitely plan a future stay.Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us,Selene, William, Izzy, and Sam

Private, relaxing cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We had so much fun at this cabin! The view and location is AMAZING! The cabin is cozy, a lot of thought was put into it when built. It's exactly what I had in mind! Bed was comfy and I loved the downstairs bathroom. Perfect! The hot tub was clean and in a perfect location, my only suggestion to owners is to provide a step stool lol. I'm only 5'0", and had to have hubby help me in and out -he was afraid I'd slip and fall :). But really the time spent there was perfect! Our cells didnt have any problem with reception, the drive up to the cabin IS amazing, very out of the way! Rent this cabin!

Owner's Response: I'm really glad you had a good time at the cabin. About the stool. We keep replacing the stool and it keeps getting either broken or taken. I didn't realize it was gone again but yes we normally have a stool in front of the hot tub. I'll be replacing it again soon. Thanks for the nice review John

Very Good But

  • 4 of 5

We would have loved to rate this property a 5 but there were some issues.

The good:

Beautiful cabin with a wonderful view located just outside all the hectic pace of Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg.

Nice layout of the cabin with its long porch, hot tub, and cozy living space. The loft had a pool table and various games.

The bad:

John, the owner never contacted us during out weeks stay. It would have been nice to have the owner check to see if we needed anything. We've always had the owner get in touch at any other cabin we've stayed at.

Lots of cobwebs on the fan and light fixtures.

For heavens sake, update your 15 year old tv's.

Get rid of the old hot tub top lying next to the cabin.

We had a wonderful time and the cabin was certainly a good value. A few small things corrected would have a perfect stay!

Owner's Response: Well I always hope you have a great stay at our cabin. But about the cobwebs I will talk to our cleaners but my wife just spring cleaned the entire cabin just a few weeks ago so they are new. I've never had anyone ask me to check on them while they are staying. Should I call in the morning at 7 when I go to work or late at night and hope I'm not interrupting anything? I do send a letter with my number that says to call me if you need anything. Or if you would like suggestions as to cool places to go or places to eat. I thought that was enough? And the TV's are in great condition and have a great picture. The reason I put that one in instead of a new flat screen is because people beak into cabins and steel flat screens. So I put in a TV that would take two people to carry. Is the picture not good? It's great and its also flat. Not sure why that bothered you. I thought allot about them when I bought the one that's in there. And the Hot tub cover is under the deck out of sight, for a reason. It's because every time someone sit's on the cover and breaks it ( which is often ) I can take that one down and get another made just like it. Not sure why that bothered you either? I do know I worked very hard to make that cabin awesome! and 99% of the people that stay think it is awesome ( just read other reviews ) It has incredible views especially in October. It has incredible hand made furniture. It's always very clean (except the new cob webs of course) and it's completely secluded. Which you can hardly find anywhere that also has a view. But sometimes I get a customer that just looks under the deck that you would have to walk all the way around the back, down the hill and under the deck to find something to complain about. Please by all means, if you stay at our cabin. Please let me know if you have any issues and I will gladly take care of them. Before you write about the bad things on here. I should at least have a chance to correct them. There is only one thing that I need to change and that's the webs. and that will be dealt with right away. But I still hope you had a great time.
