About Issy Durkin

This house was built by the owners- a career builder/designer and a local teacher. This house is the result of years of experience building custom homes; specializing in historic timber frames.

Issy Durkin purchased this house in 2013

Why Issy Durkin chose Central Leatherstocking

-One of the reasons we chose to build on this site is because it is very close to the water - and we've also dreamed of owning a waterfront property. Most houses on the lake are 2 or 3 or more stories above the water level with numerous flights of stair-we're just 20 feet from the water.

-Goodyear Lake appealed to us because it's picturesque 344 acre lake, not extremely active (there is no public launch, and is very quiet and relaxing.

-We choose the Cooperstown area-not only because of its location to the baseball hall of fame-but because of the many other features it has to offer. Within a short distance there are several shops, restaurants, parks, and hiking/outdoor recreation facilities.

What makes this house unique

-50 feet of picturesque waterfront includes a generous area for outdoor seating and grill

Swimming and fishing available from the dock

-Canoe available for use

-Newly built- the fall of 2013

-The home is built from a hand-hewed timber framed barn. Original barn built in the 1830’s by English settlers in the Catskill Mountains (Gilboa, NY)

-Features exposed timbers in all rooms

All furniture is custom crafted (beds, end-tables, kitchen cabinets, butcher-block island, vanities, light fixtures etc.)

Amazing home on the lake.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the "lake barn" for our trip to Cooperstown Dream Park and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The home is beautifully decorated, has a wonderful kitchen for cooking and was perfect for 8 adults (3 families). A short 20 min drive to the parks, it was very easy to get back and forth. We didn't get a chance to go out on the lake but enjoyed sitting and talking on the deck whenever we had the chance. Highly recommend.

Not just a Baseball vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this gorgeous home while our son played baseball at All-Star Village, about a 15-20 min drive away. My three other children would say that they had more fun than my baseball player staying in this outstanding location! We fished, canoed, rented paddle-boards, swam, and enjoyed the wonderful amenities of this fabulous home. The best part - we get to return in two years for another son's baseball experience!
