Wildlife can be seen on the property. From the deck we have seen deer across the river most evenings. Bald eagles, Canada geese and wild ducks abound. Bear have been seen, and one time a mountain lion. None of these wild animals are any threat to people. Canoe, kayak, paddle board and rafting on the river are very popular, and of course fishing. Nice rock firepit off deck. You will truly think you have found a slice of heaven.

Perfect little cabin

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the trapper cabin. It has everything you need and the sauna adds a nice touch. The location is perfect as you are right next to a nature trail that leads into town. Charlie is a great host who is very friendly and welcoming. You can tell he has a lot of pride in the cabin. We can't wait until we can come visit again.

Awesome Week on the River

  • 5 of 5

My family loved this cabin. We have two girls, 8 and 5, and they couldn't get enough of the river and cabin. Charlie met us at the cabin upon arrival and provided a tour of the place. The fire pit and outdoor sauna were a nice touch. I'd highly recommend paying the extra few bucks for access to the river toys and bikes. My 8 year old really took to paddle boarding and having a kayak or canoe to follow her around in was helpful. The 5 year old loved riding shotgun on the paddle board and kayak. Both really enjoyed swimming in the river which wasn't too cold. Location is only a few minutes from Bigfork which was nice for a few restaurants and a grocery store and there is a nice bike that you can take to get downtown. Agree with other reviews that suggest packing bug spray - from later afternoon until bedtime there's quite a few out there. Access to Glacier wasn't too far away (40 minute drive or so) which made day trips into the park pleasant. If we find ourselves in northern Montana again, we'll be back!

I wish we could visit yearly!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely adored this cabin! Location is on the river, I don't think it could be any closer. The host Charlie was absolutely wonderful to deal with, such a nice guy. He met us at the cabin and gave us an intro tour on arrival, it is obvious he takes pride in the is wonderfully cared for. We felt lucky to have found it and will have many fond memories there. The fire pit on the deck is so cool, the bathroom is right out the door and very nice. There is lots of toys to play with and a wonderful sauna. Everything you need is there. Make sure you have bug spray because being on the river the mosquitoes are there. If we ever head back to Glacier/Big Fork we most definitely will return. Thank you!

Beautiful. Quiet. Amazing.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin opens onto a wonderful deck that sits right above the Swan River. We spent all day sitting, eating, reading on the deck-- or kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing in the river. Errands into Big Fork are quick and fun- a nice town with everything you need and very friendly folks to give help and directions. Evenings by the outdoor fireplace-- using the cabin's long forks for marshmallows and other snacks. lots to do in the immediate area and lots to do if you'd rather stay home. The cabin is well stocked, clean, and easy to set up house in. A great stay!!!

Absolute Montana Experience

  • 5 of 5

One of the best getaway experience I've had. My wife and I absolutely adored this cozy cabin and all its splendor. Having been so close to the river, my dog, who loves to swim had just as much as we did swimming in the river off the dock. The kayaks were a daily use and the river was nice to travel on ether way (up river or not). It's very close to Flathead Lake (5 min. drive) and fairly close to Glacier National Park (45 min. drive). Charlie and Judi have a beauty of a spot. We didn't end up using the sauna (wife is 7 months pregnant), but it was great to have it there if we needed it. The bathroom is only feet from the front door of the cabin and is easily accessible. There is road noise, however, it is not distracting at all due to the surreal views and peacefulness you get from the place. All around, an excellent experience. Highly recommended! We plan to go back yearly!

Great experience!

  • 5 of 5

Charlie's cabin has everything you'd want in a cabin experience. Located in Big Fork, MT, it is very close (5 mins.) to Flathead Lake and only 45 minutes from Glacier National Park. Best of all, it is set-up directly on the river. Walk 10 feet from the front door and your feet can be submerged in it. He has kayaks, canoes, pattle boards and bikes to utilize as well. Kayaking on the river is addictive and you'll want to do it as much as you can. Fire pit on the large deck makes for great evenings. The cabin itself is very clean and cozy. Full oven and range! A shower and restroom is a great addition as well. The sauna is one aspect we didn't use, but the option to be able to is great. All in all, Charlie's cabin is a perfect place for a couple or family to experience shared memories. We will visit again I'm sure! Thanks Charlie and Judi!
