About David or RoseMarie Gramling

My wife and I retired here from upstate New York. I was a residential re-modeler and new home builder for 30 years. My wife was a teacher. We love Tucson so much, we retired here.

David or RoseMarie Gramling purchased this house in 2010

Why David or RoseMarie Gramling chose Tanque Verde

Have you ever rented a place that looked great on the web site only to find it lacking in person? The non-stick cookware is shot, or the shower drains so slowly you stand in dirty water, or there is a bucket in the living room catching a 'small' leak from the unit above? Well, as a traveler all three of these things have happened to me. I can assure you that this will never happen to you at our Casita. We live right next door. The premises are thoroughly inspected between each stay. Any issue that pops up while you are here can be taken care of immediately, or held off until you leave, if that's what you prefer. When you arrive, the home will be ready for you to enjoy every minute of your vacation.

What makes this house unique

As a builder, I am proud of this home. From its unique architectural lines to its elegant southwestern decor, I believe the home is truly a special place. But the truth is, I could build this home anywhere. What really makes this home a complete joy to live in is the location. The home sits on one acre in a quiet, residential neighborhood. There is a solid 6' high privacy wall enclosing the entire backyard. This is about 1/2 acre. While it is very peaceful sitting in the home, the backyard offers a large covered patio with a gas grill, a water fountain with a bench, plus two other sitting areas with a mesquite tree canopy. To top it all off, the 'Tucson Table' area is tranquility at it's finest. Sit back, or lie back on the zero gravity chairs, and listen to the wind tickle the mesquite trees, hummingbirds proclaiming their territory, and the coyotes announcing the sunset - or sunrise - if you are up that early. We have spent many an evening watching the sunset across the majestic Catalina Mountains. With all the nooks and crannies, it never grows old.

A beautiful Casita.

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a more beautiful, charming and comfortable home to vacation in. This artistic casita was perfect for us; immaculately clean and thoughtfully equipped with every possible amenity including quality dishes and glassware, sugar, flour, a selection of tea, paper products, coat hangers, every imaginable kitchen tool, sharp knives and a well-appointed desk area for organizing electronics. I was surprised to find not only a hair dryer but a hair straightener tucked away as well. Don't miss the second closet off the living room; I almost did. The weather was still quite warm in October, so having the use of a garage for our vehicle and suitcases was essential. The location of this property is perfect; very private with plenty of hiking trails nearby yet only minutes away from grocery stores and restaurants. Be sure to check out the Morris Udall Recreation Center with huge outdoor fields, a fitness center, swimming pool and indoor sports. The outdoor space surrounding the Casita was lovely, and we enjoyed grilling and dining outdoors in our private courtyard. In the evening we looked forward to relaxing in the beautifully landscaped back yard to watch the sunset. The owners, Ro and Dave are wonderful hosts; helpful in every way, and we enjoyed their company. I highly recommend this property and plan to return next year.

A very fine house indeed.

  • 5 of 5

A perfect house for the 2 of us. Met all our needs for convenience, cleanliness, amenities, location to State and National Parks, and

helpfulness and friendliness of property owners who live on-site in adjacent home. Very pretty setting, lots of privacy (if needed), and access to the garage was an extra perk. Dave and Ro provided helpful suggestions regarding day hikes, restaurants and good conversation. They responded to text messages quickly when I had additional inquiries. I would definitely recommend this property to family members and friends

without hesitation. When returning to Tucson in the near future, we will be staying at the casita again as reservations allow. The whole VRBO experience was a positive one and appreciate the quality of the property listings and the accuracy of property description.

Very Peaceful Setting

  • 5 of 5

Having to come down in the heat of summer we did not know what to expect. We only stayed at the Casita to sleep and have morning coffee because of family commitments, but it was the perfect resting place for us. Very quiet and a beautiful sitting area for our morning coffee. We can only imagine how beautiful the sunsets are. We would love to find the time to spend a few weeks in the winter. We are sure it has to be one of the most relaxing places you could find. We only got to meet the owners one morning but I assure you that they will help to make your stay very pleasurable.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

For the second time we spent the month of February in the Gramlings very comfortable Casita. New additions to the property included new patio furniture and a very attractive outdoor firepit area. We like the proximity to family living in the area, hiking, restaurants and shopping that staying here affords. For those who are not into hiking, nearby McDonald Park has a paved walking path we enjoyed using several times this year. Dave and Ro are the best of hosts, as you will surely agree if you stay with them. We plan to visit again!

Loved loved loved the place!

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we walked in, we knew we would love our stay here. We arrived early evening and the back yard beautiful with all the little light paths. We walked in and immediately felt comfortable. The next morning, we walked outside and saw the beautiful little "oasis" backyard. Every day we would go out for various activities, we enjoyed coming back to the casita as it really felt like our home away from home with an exotic touch. We actually thought it even showed better in person than on the pictures. Ro & Dave are great hosts, very discrete yet amiable. We would go back anytime.

Great romantic getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The casita is very cozy and awesome! The owners are builders, and you can really tell with the amount of quality and detail put into their beautiful casita. For example, I hate being cold, so it was awesome to have numerous heater vents and a high quality heater. We let the owners know that we just wanted a nice romantic getaway, and they gave us the space to be by ourselves. We loved the large fire pit and built a fire every night we were there. The views of the mountains, stars, and sunset were beautiful. We went to Sabino Canyon located 15 minutes away, rode the tram, and did some hiking on our own. The kitchen is perfectly stocked and has everything you need for cooking including cookware, basic spices, and storage containers. The stove top is great and cooks twice as fast as my oven at home. Being able to park in the garage in the colder weather was nice. The owners were very nice, accommodating, and responsive to our requests and needs. A+++
