About Diane and Ted Swenson

This property is owned and managed by Ted and Diane Swenson in Portland, OR. They grew up in the Portland area and have many happy memories of the Oregon coastline.

We like to eat out, work on the house, grill, explore the beaches, hear live music and hike. Of course just sitting on the deck listening to the waves usually take up the first couple of days!

Diane and Ted Swenson purchased this house in 2010

Why Diane and Ted Swenson chose Central Coast

The Lincoln City area is a great location because you can find so many things to do....From mainstream concerts in the Chinook Winds Casino, to boating, fishing, antiquing, outlet mall shopping, and night life. I love that Gleneden Beach is close to the action, but allows it's guests to leave the noisy touristy stuff behind at the end of the day.

The neighboring Salishan Golf Resort help to keep the area upscale and quiet.

What makes this house unique

Our beach house property is private, located on a double wooded lot and is mere steps from the ocean. It is also within walking distance of a great restaurant, a tavern, a lovely nursery, and the post office. There is a large grocery store a couple miles south on 101.

It's been our dream to have a beach getaway for ourselves and to share this house with others who appreciate the unique beauty of the Oregon coast.

We enjoy sampling the local beers and wines and trying out new restaurants. Grilling fresh fish, listening to the waves and chillin'.....These are the kind of moments that make this house such a dream. Because there is a wooded lot next to the house, you'll see wildlife now and again...Ocean views in the kitchen make cooking enjoyable. This home includes remodeled kitchen and baths, plus the fireplace is great on a chilly night.

The short drive to Lincoln City 101 thru Siletz Bay is always pleasing with spectacular sunsets and wild life to look at along the way. The view changes all the time and is very peaceful.

Perfect Home to Celebrate the New Year

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this home over the New Years holiday. The location is perfect if you want to explore the coastal cities since Newport, Lincoln City, and Depoe Bay are all a quick drive away. We never ran out of things to do at this location. The beach is very well kept and quiet, and great for searching for agates! The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and there is plenty of bedding, towels, and extra blankets. The XBOX was very nice to have when it was too chilly to go outside, and the games (HALO series, Starwars Battlefront, etc.) gave us pleasing nostalgia. We got to witness a giant hail storm that covered the beach with white on New Years day, it was stunning! I would highly recommend this house to anyone, and plan to rent here again soon! Diane was great at replying back quickly to emails. Thank you for being great hosts, and trusting us with your beautiful home.

Great Home to Rest and Enjoy the Coast

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was just outside of Lincoln City, but not far from Depoe Bay- and even Newport. So we were able to enjoy all three places. A few things we always want in a vacation home are: enough space for our family of 5 to be able to rest, a coffee shop nearby, and things within walking distance. This home had all of those. Gleneden is a walkable little area where there is a great restaurant- Side Door Cafe. They have a new cafe/coffee shop- which we did not try out. But did go a few minutes down the road to the Depoe Baykery based on another review and it was amazing!!!! Also the coffee shop right next to the Thriftway was great with good coffee. All within maybe 5 minutes. We drove into Newport and enjoyed dinner at Local Ocean. Going into Newport is always a fun adventure for our family when on the coast. Since we traveled with little kids, it was nice to be close to Fogarty Creek/Beach area because there is a great area for them to play in the water and also Beverly Beach where they were able to play in shallow water. But the beach close to the home was great for digging and playing in the sand or flying a kite. It is also a very clean and quiet beach and a very short walk from the house. We loved coming home and relaxing on the porch of the house, playing games, and utilizing the TV/Video/Netflix/Pandora set up. Even though there were no actual TV channels- we had so many options to enjoy with those- which was nice. And for families who need a place for baby to sleep- there is a pack and play which was nice not to have to pack. We look forward to hopefully returning to this home soon and creating more memories here. Thank you for being such great hosts, for creating a welcoming/inviting space, and taking amazing care of your home

Relaxing week stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week in this lovely home mid-April & found the home to be very well stocked with kitchen utensils, towels & bedding. We got to experience a storm and watched from the picturesque windows to 91 degree temps sitting on the private deck. We also had 2 great dinners at the Side Door cafe and There is a beautiful family run nursery to spend your time in. Very comfy beds and spotless bathrooms, highly recommend if you are looking to get away and want to be near the beach.

As Comfy as Home

  • 5 of 5

This house is very nice - welcoming, comfortable, interesting. First impression - clean and tidy. Though they allow pets here we could not detect any pet smell or damage. The furniture was very comfortable. The funky ball light fixture over the couches gives excellent reading light. The upstairs couches are perfect for wave and sunset viewing. Beds were great - the King slept a bit too warm for us (though the mattress was very comfortable) but the queen was perfect. Bathrooms were spotless, shower heads up nice and high, good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The kitchen has quality cooking equipment with plenty of utensils, dishes, glasses and tableware. Note there is very little in the way of spices, sugar, condiments, etc., so bring your own.

The garage is huge, with beach chairs, beach toys and such. The front decks offer both sun and shade and always the sound of the surf. The house is surrounded by beautiful shore pines and a nice garden to the east. Beach access is just 5 minute's walk. We enjoyed riding our bikes around the neighborhood, which is quiet and quaint. Plan to have at least one meal at the Side Door Cafe - absolutely one of the best restaurants on the central Oregon Coast, only 5 minutes walk (!) from this house.

Wish We Could've Stayed Longer

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at many beach houses along the Oregon Coast over the past twenty years and this is by far the best! The house was roomy and decorated nicely. The furniture was nice and very comfortable, especially the beds. Beach access was easy, the neighborhood was quiet. There is a nice, big deck with ocean views. The owners were great to work with. We hope to return very soon!

Perfect getaway for our family

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house in June 2015 and loved every minute. Everything was made easy for us from booking on forward, and we had no trouble communicating with the owners. Our family found it just perfect for us - it had everything we needed from entertainment options to quiet retreat spaces. We spent a lot of time watching the ocean from the upstairs and listening to it on the deck.

Gleneden is a great central location for trips up and down the coast, and we took a lot of drives, and spent a lot of time in Newport, but loved having a cozy, pleasant "home" to come back to. We cook for ourselves a lot on vacation, and the kitchen had everything we needed to make good meals. Bedrooms are quiet and comfortable too, and everyone slept very well. Our younger son enjoyed the loft space and the games, and spent a lot of time up there. Our older son was out on the deck in the sunshine every chance he got. My husband and I could relax, read, and just enjoy the break. Our only regret was not discovering how good the donuts at Depoe Baykery are until the next to last day!

Thank you for sharing your special house with us. We will be booking again as soon as we get the chance!
