Keeping 18 guests together at Angler's Retreat costs less per person than splitting across multiple Nags Head hotels — and your group arrives to 7 King en-suite bedrooms, a private resort-style pool with a built-in swim-up bar, and a location 5 minutes from Oregon Inlet Fishing Center.

WHAT SETS THIS PROPERTY APART

Seven King En-Suite Bedrooms — every couple gets a private suite with its own bathroom. No hierarchy, no negotiation, no shared bathrooms. This layout is exceptionally rare in the Outer Banks and is the reason fishing crews, corporate groups, and couples retreats return to Angler's Retreat.

The Pool and Lawn — the 30'x18' heated pool has a built-in swim-up bar and integrated kiddie pool. Behind it sits a 125'x50' fenced oceanfront lawn — a feature most OBX oceanfront homes simply cannot offer. Poolside cabana bar, 8-person hot tub, enclosed outdoor shower.

Three Levels of Purpose — the top floor gathers the group: chef's kitchen with double ovens and dual dishwashers, formal dining for 14, panoramic ocean views. The mid floor is the privacy floor: 7 King suites, quiet and uninterrupted. The ground floor extends the evening: private theater with tiered seating, game room, ground-level kitchenette, and direct pool access. A whole-house elevator connects all three levels.

THE ANGLER'S ADVANTAGE

Angler's Retreat sits on what locals call Angler's Row. Oregon Inlet Fishing Center is approximately 5 minutes south — the gateway to Gulf Stream billfish, tuna, and mahi. Pirates Cove Marina is 10 minutes away. The OBX Fishing Pier is walkable. Spring tuna runs, summer billfish, and fall offshore seasons are all within easy reach from this exact location.

Most OBX oceanfront estates require 7-night minimums. Angler's Retreat offers flexible 3-night minimum stays during select periods — whether your group is here for a 3-day tuna run or a 10-day extended season trip. Longer stays are always welcome.

We had a wonderful stay at Anglers Retreat in Nags Head. The home is beautifully maintained, spacious, and very comfortable, making it perfect for a relaxing beach getaway. Property was lacking in soap, shampoo, toilet paper and could have been cleaner. Bed collapsed first night leaving us without enough beds. Fence had gapes so dogs keep escaping. It was not a good experience.

As outlined in our listing, we provide starter supplies upon arrival, which were fully stocked at check-in. Additional items were requested during the stay and were promptly provided as a courtesy. We also accommodated both an early check-in and a late check-out as a goodwill gesture to support your holiday plans. Unfortunately, one bed experienced an unexpected structural issue on the first night. Despite the Thanksgiving holiday, we arranged for repairs and had the issue resolved the very next day to minimize disruption—something we take pride in handling quickly, even during peak holiday periods. Regarding cleanliness and the fence, the home is professionally cleaned prior to each stay, and we were not notified of any concerns during the visit that would have allowed us to address them immediately. The fenced area is described in the listing as a partial enclosure and is not advertised as fully escape-proof for pets. While we were surprised by the overall assessment given the accommodations and responsiveness provided during the stay, we remain committed to transparent communication, responsive service, and continuous improvement—values reflected in the many positive reviews from other guests.

Perfect Oceanfront Getaway in Nags Head!

Good Time in Nags Head

This was our first visit to the Outer Banks. We enjoyed visiting the Wright Brothers museum as well as other activities and of course the beach and private pool. The house wasn't cleaned and ready when we arrived but they responded quickly with extra help and did a good job cleaning and getting the house ready. Fortunately we were able to enjoy the pool area while waiting. Otherwise, the house was nice and spacious with adequate bedrooms and the large kitchen, dining and TV area. The large dining table really worked well for us. The bedrooms were comfortable and most have an adjoining bathroom which is nice. The pool and grassy area was great to have with the kids. We would stay here again next time we visit the Outer Banks.

Met Expectations, Check In Snafu

Beautiful home obviously located in an ideal area right on the beach. Inside, the house was great. Outside, some of the boards needed replacing by the pool and path to the beach. The primary complaint is that the home was not ready for check in when we arrived. We had to call the management company to send the cleaners. They came and had the property cleaned roughly 2 hours after the original check in time. This wasn’t an ideal start to the trip, but the manager issued a $100 refund for the inconvenience. Overall, recommend staying, just confirm that the check in process will meet your expectations.

Avoid this rental

I chose this rental for a family Thanksgiving trip and paid much more than my budget allowed for because their site boasted a “heated pool that was good for year round use.” I even inquired with property management about heated temperature and was told 80 degrees. Great! I was so excited for my 4 grandchildren.I was also billed close to an additional 400 for the pool heating.Upon arrival, the outdoor garbage cans were overflowing near the front door. The entry system was broken and we couldn’t get in the house for 30 minutes.The first thing I did was go check out this incredible heated pool. SHOCKER…The pool was dirty, about 20” below skimmer baskets and ice cold. My phone call was met with we don’t heat this time of year and they would still charge me if I left. They did refund the heating bill, but clearly did not care.There were two gas fireplaces that did not turn on and they sent out the lawn caretaker to repair who couldn’t figure out how to make them work. No fireplaces.Outdoor fire pit littered with twisted tea cans.Foosball in basement with no ball.All games missing most of their pieces.Not one sponge, dish towel or trash bag.There are 4 previous reviews before mine. Two of them work for the private management company that handles this property.They offered me less a 740 refund IF I would leave a 5-star review.I have stayed at many VRBO and have never experienced such misrepresentation. Hope this honest real reveal is helpful.Allison

From the moment you arrived, you repeatedly expressed that you had paid more than your budget allowed and demanded a full refund, despite staying for the entire duration of your reservation. While we strive to provide excellent service, we do not trade money for reviews, nor do we accommodate refund demands that are not justified. Our team went out of their way to address every concern you raised. When you mentioned missing consumable items, we immediately offered to purchase them for you at no cost, but you refused to let our staff deliver them. When you reported issues with the fireplaces, we dispatched maintenance—even on Thanksgiving Day—to assist, but unfortunately, the issue could not be resolved during your stay. Regarding the pool heat, we were upfront about it being a seasonal add-on, and once it became clear that heating was not possible, we immediately refunded the charge. We also addressed the entry delay as soon as we were notified. It is disappointing to see claims that do not reflect the full context of your stay, especially after we extended multiple resolutions to ensure your comfort. While we welcome all feedback, we will not be pressured into providing refunds or compensation in exchange for positive reviews. We remain committed to hosting guests who appreciate the quality of our homes and the effort we put into their experiences.
