We've lived in Estes Park for 38 years. Spent all of that time in the restaurant and hospitality industry. We live on the property adjacent to the ranch.
Gisela purchased this lodge in 2008
It's the nicest property in town to have a family reunion or wedding or corporate retreat. CHECK OUT OUR REVIEWS!!
Peace and Tranquility. Take a hike in the National Forest that borders the property.
My family of 30, ages 2 1/2 to 72, stayed here for a week in late July.
Beautiful property with hammocks; lounge chairs; outdoor covered eating area (The Cantina) with either picnic benches or tables and chairs that can be set up, a fire pit with lots of seating, a large grill, stove and oven and sink; horse shoes and sand bag game; frisbee golf and beautiful view.
The main rooms are quite lovely and spacious with extra seating in most. There are two very tiny rooms which were probably walk-in closets that have reasonably comfortable beds, but they are not a place you would want to spend a lot of time unless you want to lay back and read or use your computer. They worked ok for two separate single people in their 40's. Would work well for teens and young adults, too. The sleeping porch is off the living room and is enclosed in glass, with glass also looking into the living room. This is bright in the morning, and also loud and bright if you try to go to bed early since it is off the living room. The sleeping bunk cabins are great for the kids and young adults if needed, with a toilet and sink very close by. The small and large cabin are perfect if a family sub-group needs their own space - they have their own kitchens, bathrooms and small living areas.
The living room, dining room and eating areas are of good size. We were all comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, blender, toasters, coffee makers, large bowls, crockpot, etc. I recommend bringing a sharp knife or two if possible. We also mostly used disposable plates and utensils along with what was there to limit clean-up and limit running the dishwasher all the time.
They provide plenty of towels and you can also do laundry if needed.
Close enough to town yet away from the hustle and bustle. Elk walked right across the yard while we were outside having a 50th wedding anniversary party!
Gisele was very helpful answering all my questions over email before we arrived, and easy to reach by phone once we were there. We had some reunion favors to hand out and we were able to ship them to here in advance.
The entire family commented on what a great place this was and all thought it worked out wonderfully!
Great quiet private location just 4 miles from busy Estes Park. Lots of space to spread out with the cabins, house, and the bunk house....coming together for meals was a breeze with the cantina for outside dining and the house with 3 large tables. Everything was supplied in abundance for cooking, serving and cleaning up. Having 2 sets of washer and dryers was super convenient. Gesella was a most gracious host, available to answer questions and bring household supplies. You couldn't find a better place to bring a group of friends or family together! Just remember to reserve early.
OMG!!!! Best place ever for a family reunion! Working with Ed and Gisela the owners was amazing! What kind and accommodating folks they are. The grounds were perfect for our 5 little ones: ranging from 2 years to 4 years old running and playing. They were not ready to leave on Saturday. Our teenagers enjoyed the hammocks, rafting, zip line etc. Cooking and eating at the Cantina made the reunion most enjoyable. Must not forget making the smores. Playing games in the lodge with the family, laughing, making memories, reminiscing is what it is about and this place made it happen. The venue was spectacular. Family were in awe!
This family reunion planning took 2 years and I am sooooo, glad I found Overlook Ranch. Not only did it offer every thing we needed for 6 families, ages 2 to 72, but the location and setting could not have been better. Each family wase blown away by the view of Longs Peak and the open space. Our hosts Ed and Gisela were fantastic with a laid back Wester hospitality, always available for our questions and needs.
We had 6 individual families. Ed advised my husband and I take the small "Grandparent Cabin" and let the other families divide up who was sleeping where. That turned out perfect as we had a space away but always had grand kids 'registering' to stay with us. It was special to know they wanted our upper bunk!
We all had great fun on the property with horse shoe, freesby golf, bbq, canp fires and even a kids talent show! In the day we split up and went every direction for hiking, water rafting, horse back righing and just chillin'.
Just 4 miles from downtown Estes Park this was so convienent for shopping and groceries.
I can't think of a better place to bring a family from all over the US together for a fabulous week!
Thank You Ed and Gisela
We recently spent 4 nights in the 2 bedroom cabin over our Spring Break. We have been to the Estes Park area countless times and we feel we found a real gem at Overlook Ranch! Our cabin was clean, comfortable and didn't smell at all like dogs! (I had wondered if it would but it really didn't.) We enjoyed making a fire in the wood burning stove. We did lots of fun things at the ranch -frisbee golf, basketball, hiking, horseshoe and just relaxing. We saw deer and elk on the property. Ed let us see the other cabins are we are already trying to arrange a gathering to use the whole property! The big cabin and the little studio are very impressive with the attention to detail. We can hardly wait to go back. Our sons thought it was the perfect vacation. Thank Ed!!
I lead a group of teenagers and I have to say this is the best venue I have been at in Estes Park. I've been leading weekend retreats for many years, I wish I would be found this place sooner. Ed is a wonderful host and took care of us! The property so beautiful and there is so much to do. The facilities are is great shape and we stayed warm all night. We will DEFINITELY be back!
