This was a great place to stay for our group! There was plenty of room for nine of us to stay comfortably. The house was very cozy and the beds were comfortable with plenty of blankets, towels and other amenities. The kitchen was beautiful and stocked to the fullest. The neighborhood is quiet and nice as well. Our host Lisa was extremely accommodating and a wonderful communicator. Our late checkout was not a problem at all and we really appreciated that. Thank you so much Lisa. We hope to stay with you again soon!
Great stay for co-workers, met our needs for the week since we were in the area for a conference. Check in was easy/host was communicative about an early check in.
The home was very clean, it looked exactly like the photos, and the owner was able to accommodate several requests that we had. Lisa was great at communication, and we always felt like she was there for us if we needed her. Excellent property!
Overall A GREAT EXPERIENCE! A great place 5 miles from campus. We were there for the WI half Ironman and cheered on folks at the full Ironman. A very comfortable place. Lisa the host is amazingly responsive and most helpful. She even wished us luck the morning of our half and then checked in with us after - so cool! It is a great place to have a group of friends gather - playing cards, swimming - so very fun and a great place to stay. Thanks Lisa!
Very nice place. Slept 7 of us very comfortably. Spacious layout and nice outdoor deck and pool area. The kitchen was incredible as the stove top griddle came in very handy for cooking up breakfast each morning.

For a bunch of guys, you left the place extremely clean! Thank you for the review and being terrific guests!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lisa’s home in Fitchburg. She allowed us to check in a bit early since we were attending an event in Madison that evening. The house itself was great for our family of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids under age of 7). We spent most of our 3 night stay in the house to getaway and relax. It was great to have the gourmet kitchen to cook in, eat on the deck, and our kids loved swimming in pool everyday. Any issues that came up during our stay was quickly resolved by Lisa. She is incredibly responsive. I would recommend staying here if you are in the area or near Madison.
We stayed here for my son's UW-Madison freshman orientation, and it worked out very well. Campus was a short drive away, and we enjoyed the pool and nearby park with pickle ball courts. There was plenty of space for the seven of us, with a well-appointed kitchen, nice deck area, and comfortable beds. The host was very helpful and responsive.

Thank you for posting this review! It was a pleasure meeting all of you! I hope to see you again once your new Badger comes to Madison!
This was the perfect spot for us to spend our daughter's UW Madison graduation weekend. It was a little bit of a drive to campus (20 minutes), but we thought it was worth it. There was plenty of space, and having four bathrooms made it perfect for sharing the house with two sets of grandparents. The deck and backyard are great, and the house is located on a quiet cul de sac near a park that is great for walking. The beautiful gourmet kitchen is well stocked, and the hostess was friendly and helpful. The house is very comfortable and homey.
Lisa was a great host. Any problems that occurred during our stay were immediately addressed by her. It was important to her that we enjoy our stay while at her property. I appreciated that very much. My family and I had a good time while in Fitchburg.

Thank you for your kind review. The rain has been a bear for the pool this year. We all need a break!
This house was perfect for our large extended family who came to town for a graduation. It’s in a nice, quiet neighborhood but is a short 10 minute drive to the UW campus. Lisa was super helpful and responsive when I had questions for her.
When we stayed, the house was undergoing some work (new siding and some work in the entryway stairs) but Lisa made me aware of this before we arrived so there were no surprises.
I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

For the price, we were hoping for some nicer amenities. The kitchen is amazing and the amount of space was nice. Linens, towels and mattresses could be upgraded. We all need a chiropractor. Bathroom faucets and shower fixtures could be improved too. Tub in primary was broken. Unfinished banister was expected to be completed and was unsafe for our toddler. The downstairs was noted to smells moldy and like animals. Pool was green and eye sore. Inside seems like a drawn out home improvement project from room to room. Cleanliness was called into question after my spouse stepped on an old fishing hook while in the kitchen living room. Suitable for a bachelor party or homecoming football weekend with your bros. Overall got the job done but would stay at a hotel next time for the price.

I’m surprised since I didn’t hear any of this during your stay. The linens are 100% cotton and two of the mattresses are new. The stairs are not unsafe and have been reinforced with a toddler gate although it’s true it’s not lovely. The pool is closed and I told you the pool company was coming to clear it and cover it. I do wish it had been done before you arrived, but it’s busy. No one else smells anything like mold or animals, although the house is dog friendly. It’s a lovely home with many amenities. I do think a hotel is more appropriate.

There is Homey & Lived-In and Then There is This House
The house offers ample space for a group, easily hosting our family of 8, and is conveniently located 15-20 minutes from Madison. The kitchen is newly renovated and quite nice.
However, there are several issues to note. First, the house is in a state of construction that should not be allowed for house rentals. Despite some disclosure in the listing, we were surprised by the extent of incomplete work, including rickety entryway stairs lacking railings and exposed unfinished wood (particularly unsafe for children). Also, the bedrooms all seemed to have holes in the walls or were partially under construction.
Additionally, the house has a strong, musty pet odor. While this may not be a problem for pet owners, it caused allergic reactions in our group from sitting on furniture and using bedding.
The pool, while refreshing, also needs maintenance; the liner was lifting, and the area around the diving board was in poor condition, raising more safety concerns.
The cleanliness of the home was also troubling. While appearing tidied, a closer inspection revealed the need for a deep clean. Used toothbrushes and corroded batteries in drawers, dust chunks & construction materials under beds, and moldy toys & cups in the bathroom.
Host should be VERY transparent about ongoing work as it plays a major role in decision to rent. Clearly just someone's house being passed off as a holiday rental. Overall, while the property has potential, in its current state, it is unfit for guests.

This review is a) shockingly filled with falsehoods and b) most likely the result of me filing a damage claim and having a discussion with the guest as to why they did not report the damage to the shower and the Viking range to me.
This home is painstakingly managed with the help of a housekeeping service, lawn care, pool services and weekly yard cleanup of dog waste.
The remodeling status of the entryway and the siding is fully disclosed in the listing and the price for the home reflects that. Having said that, the stairs are not rickety in any way and there are railings around the full entryway. What’s missing is a handrail on the six stairs going to the lower level, but the landing floor can be used for balance. There is a handrail on the more open stairway to the upper floor.
No bedrooms have holes or are under construction and there is absolutely zero construction material under beds.
The pool liner has pulled away very slightly in two corners, which is not unsafe. This occurred in the spring and can’t be fixed until the pool is closed. There is nothing wrong with the diving board area. I can’t imagine what this guest is referring to.
Finally, there are no “used” toothbrushes other than the cleaning toothbrush in the cleaning drawer next to the sink and there are no moldy toys in the bathroom—or cups. And I can’t find a corroded battery anywhere.
This is a beautiful home and most guests have loved their visit and enjoyed their stay. I’m very sorry this guest has not.

expectations were high - but not met
When we 1st saw this property on VRBO it looked like it would be great for our vacation. Then after we selected it and paid in full, we received more pictures and details of the ongoing construction of the property. First off we arrived about 20 minutes before check-in. House was still being cleaned. When we entered the house we encountered the stairs which we had been told were a work in progress but they were more unfinished and in dire need of repair than we had expected. There were no handrails for the stairs going down and there was only one rail going upstairs that was not well secured. We selected this house because it was supposed to have 5 bedrooms - only had 4. But then when our daughter and husband went to use the bed in the purple room discovered the mattress was bowed and they ended up sleeping on couches in the downstairs rec room. There was a musty smell that permeated the downstairs; not very pleasant. The pool was a major disappointment as it was to be the focal point for fun. The picture on VRBO's site was beautiful. In reality it had an ill fitting/torn liner and there were gaps along the pool that had the potential to cause injury. All the bathrooms were in some state of disrepair or remodeling. The kitchen however was gorgeous! I think repairs need to be done before renting out this house again. I paid in full about 5 months before our trip. There should have been more progress in the completing more work to ready this home for us.

I’m so sorry you were disappointed. We did lower our price compared to other 4-bedroom, 4-bath houses due to the entryway remodeling and siding construction.
Turning up early is definitely an imposition for hosts who are often flipping the space between stays in a matter of hours. However, I was cheerful and friendly not suspecting you’d think it was my fault cleaning wasn’t done early. The cleaning was completed 5 minutes before checkin time despite the interruption.
Only one bathroom has anything wrong with it and that is that the primary bathtub doesn’t work but the large shower works fine. Every other bathroom is not under construction, but I’d love to know why you think they are.
I’ve had no complaints about the purple bed. I wish you had told me while you were there. We certainly communicated often and not one of these complaints were shared.
The pool liner is pulled away very slightly at two corners which just happened early this summer. Due to rentals and the schedule of pool companies, it cannot be replaced til the off season. But it’s merely a slight appearance issue and I can’t see how it could possibly cause injury. The pool is still very usable and you certainly did use it as every beach towel in the place was in the laundry.
Again, I’m sorry you didn’t share this feedback with me early on. Some of it could be have been resolved. I am glad you liked the kitchen. Despite your disappointment, I hope you created some good memories.
