The Bahamas House in Charleston is The Best Value you can find for a group coming to visit!

*Located in up and coming neighborhood where there are homes needing total renovation and new construction happening nearby. Home sits directly on street and there is also a corner store at the end of the street so there is significant foot traffic by the front of the house from neighbors walking by causing extra noise in the front bedroom since the home is directly on the street. If you are a light sleeper or foot traffic bothers you near the home then this is not the right place to book.

The space:
The patio is a wonderful outdoor area to enjoy the evenings together! Our yard has regular mosquito control so enjoying the outdoors should be wonderful and hopefully with less bugs! The Propane Grill is on the patio as well and ready for your hamburgers! The Bahamas House has 3 bedrooms which can comfortably sleep 6 guests.
We fell in love with the Bahamian Culture from traveling there over the years and worked to recreate a light Bahamas feel from the inside out with coastal decor and bright colors.

Space for 2 compact vehicles in front of the home are available. Guest have access to the entire space and courtyard.

Great home

The owner was very hospitable. The place was nice and any problems we had she solved right away. The neighborhood was a bit questionable at first but everyone is friendly and we had no issues at all. Great stay ! Would definitely recommend anyone to stay in this place.

Weekend Vacation

Family went down for a mini weekend vacation. The house was gorgeous. Was very clean, spacious enough for our family of 4, and close enough to everything we wanted to do, and places to eat. The neighborhood was fairly quiet and locals in passing were friendly. Host was also very friendly and answered quickly. Would definitely recommend, and would absolutely stay again in the future. Thank you again for allowing us to stay on our nice weekend!

Bahama house

There was no dining table, there was a hole in the floor covered by a rug, the floor in one of the rooms was coming apart you could almost step through it and the shower curtain had mold on it.

Great place!

Paul is an amazing host and the house has everything we could have needed to cook! The check in instructions were clear and easy. I wish I would have looked up the area before going, the house is wonderful, it’s just in the middle of an unfavorable neighborhood. Some foot traffic at night, but very quiet otherwise. The neighborhood seems to be up and coming a few streets over. Overall, we enjoyed our stay a lot !!

Great location

The property location was great and the place was nice, looked just like the pictures, we were only there for 2 nights and didn’t spend too much time there. The host was super responsive and accommodating with us! The only issue/non issue was the flooring was very damaged (unleveled, missing pieces, cracked, tripping hazard) it fell like at any moment we would fall through the floor this was felt mostly in the kitchen and one of the bedrooms but other than that everything was great, had a cute little outdoor area too!

Lawsuit waiting to happen

The house is old and sagging heavily in the middle. Lots of hole and cracked and broken vinyl plank flooring. The location is in a super depressed area with lots of foot traffic all hours of the day and night. I feared each night my car would be broken into or the house. I was here for work, I would not have stayed here if I was on vacation. This house is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Fun Family Trip

Our family had an enjoyable time staying at the Bahama House! The beds are very comfortable, and we slept great. We did not experience any issues with construction or foot traffic noise. Our son enjoyed playing the x-box games that were provided. There is a great selection of games that will appeal to a variety of ages. If guests don’t have mobility issues, the uneven floor throughout the house adds to its character, as it is an older home. Even though the house is located in a neighborhood with lots of boarded up houses, the people we encountered were very friendly. The store on the corner was a convenient place to pick up extra items. It was very easy to get to the French Quarter, Park Circle, and the beach from the house. It was so nice to be able to bring the provided beach chairs to the beach with us. The house did have housekeeping issues upon our arrival, however, the owner addressed these neglected areas with the cleaning crew so that future guests will not encounter the same situation we did. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Inside the actually house was fine and like the pictures. The area was not a good area and did not provide a safe or “vacation” feeling. As we drove down the street to the house, there were several houses boarded up and people hanging around trash cans, the street, cutting through the yard. We decided to keep going to the house to see how it was. The people hanging out in the street would not move as they were in front of the house at first. Once I was able to park, they all preceded to stare at us until we got out of the car. When we did, they continued to come closer, asking me questions that pertained to the value of my car and constantly going up by it. We then tried to leave for a bit and come back to see if it would change the situation but they were all there doing the same when we got back. We decided we did not want to spend our vacation worrying about stuff like that and decided to pack all of our stuff back up and stay at a hotel instead for the week. I had tried to contact the number left and left a voicemail. All I received then was a text much later In the night saying she understood. The next day I got a message from Paul asking how things were and I told him about the situation and that I left a voicemail for the number that was left.

The host was nice and accommodating, the house was fully stocked and decently clean. We did have to clean when we got there up to our standards but the host addressed that. The neighborhood is one of the most violent cities in America for it’s size and we were asked by a resident to use our kitchen at some point. The house next door has a lot of traffic in and out, and the streets are busy at night. Being all women and children on the trip, I wouldn’t stay there again based on that. The housekeeper came by twice unexpectedly while we were there, the second time because she was told we checked out but we had one more day. Overall we had a great time but didn’t spend much of it at the home. The home itself is decorated nicely and comfortable inside. I did not realize North Charleston was generally so dangerous, but the host assured us that they had no incident so far. There was a fake bee hive on the front porch I assume to deter unwanted guests, but we had knocking at the door at random times regardless.
