The Elf Haus: Upscale A-Frame. Hot Tub. Dog Friendly. Elope. Close to Breck
The Elf Haus is thoughtfully outfitted with amenities to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Whether you're seeking outdoor adventure or total relaxation, everything you need is here.
Step out onto the main deck and unwind in the private hot tub, where you’ll be surrounded by the forest canopy. It’s the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring—or to stargaze in total peace.
The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a heartfelt meal. The coffee bar is stocked with beans for drip coffee, espresso, and lattes. A spice cabinet and a selection of cooking oils help get you started, and a beverage fridge keeps your sparkling water, soda, wine, and beer chilled and ready.
There are two dedicated bedrooms and a finished basement with a queen-size Murphy bed. The main floor bedroom features a queen bed and beautiful views of the forest. The tranquil master bedroom upstairs includes a king bed and custom barn doors that frame a view through the A-frame, along with windows facing south and west toward the trees and mountains.
The Murphy bed in the basement is queen size (VRBO inaccurately lists it as a twin). Please let us know in advance if you plan to use it so we can have it ready for you.
The master bedroom has a full ensuite bath. A second full bathroom is located on the main floor, adjacent to the downstairs bedroom, and the basement includes a convenient half bath. All bathrooms are stocked with William Roam toiletries, hairdryers, plush towels, and cozy bathrobes for your use.
The hygge-inspired main living area brings the outdoors in, with expansive windows that offer forest views—moose, foxes, and even bears are sometimes spotted nearby. Enjoy a relaxed evening at the dining table with friends or family, or settle in by the wood-burning fireplace. A record player and Sonos speaker are provided, along with board games for a little friendly competition.
Upstairs, enjoy expansive views of the A-frame and a quiet reading nook—the perfect spot to curl up with a book or your favorite music. The four-season porch offers another serene space to unwind, surrounded by nature.
The finished basement features a large smart TV, a dedicated desk with a monitor (HDMI cable included), and a washer/dryer stocked with detergent and cleaning supplies.
Large walkout doors from the basement open to 2.5 acres of private, forested land. A peaceful trail awaits if you're in the mood for a quiet walk among the trees.
Styled in Mountain Modern decor with local Colorado art and cozy touches throughout, the Elf Haus was designed to help you relax, recharge, and enjoy your mountain escape to the fullest.

It is obvious that Rob and Amy have but a lot of work into the property. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed. We felt right at home when we arrived and got to spend the week relaxing, hiking, and overall enjoying nature. The road getting to the house is not graded well which Rob warned about ahead of time. He and Amy were very communicative before during and after our stay. Would definitely come back here again!
I stayed at Elf Haus with my 3yo daughter for two nights in April, and it was the perfect peaceful getaway in the mountains. The cabin was easy to find with the detailed instructions, and the neighborhood was quiet. (We even saw a fox outside the cabin one morning!)
I loved how charming the cabin was—you can really tell it's been decorated for the owners use and not just as a rental. The fully equipped kitchen and espresso machine were a nice touch for not having to leave the cabin, and we loved the cozy fireplace and record player in the evening as it snowed outside.
My daughter adds "I liked the cabin! Can we go again?" (We will definitely be back!)
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Elf Haus for a week to work remote and enjoy the mountains of Colorado in the summer. We were NOT disappointed. The house was immaculate and beautiful. They've thought of so many little details that I didn't know existed. The wifi worked great, the kitchen works for what you need, the coffee/espresso machine and entire coffee bar was so nice! The beds were comfortable, we worked on the deck in the mornings with coffee. There's beautiful hiking trails just up the road. Speaking of the road to the house, it's not particularly steep or worrisome in the summer; however, the washboarding of it (ripples) at times can creates a bumpy ride. 10000x worth the journey but be prepared for the car to rattle a little. Would 10/10 go back to this house and plan to again. We absolutely loved it.

In 2021, we embarked on a journey when we acquired the elf haus, affectionately named after our cherished furry companion. originally a DIY project dating back to the 1970s, this A-frame demanded substantial restoration to transform it into a livable abode. the extensive renovation process has been a profound learning experience, enriching us with newfound skills and insights. each step of the way has been an adventure, and now, we're thrilled to open our doors and share our slice of paradise with you!
