About this property

Escape to the Mountains - Upscale A-Frame. Dog Friendly & Close to Breckenridge

The Elf Haus is outfitted with amenities to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. If you are here for a stay full of outdoor adventures or complete relaxation, all bases are covered.

The kitchen and coffee bar are stocked with beans to make drip coffee or espresso and even a latte. A spice cabinet and selection of cooking oils are available to get you started on preparing a home-cooked meal. There is a beverage fridge to keep sparkling water, soda, wine, and beer chilled and at hand. A gourmet kitchen with all the necessities to cook a heartfelt meal.

There are 2 dedicated bedrooms and a basement with a Murphy bed. The main floor bedroom is outfitted with a queen bed and a beautiful view of the forest surrounding the Elf Haus. The tranquil master bedroom is upstairs and is outfitted with a king bed and views through the custom-made barn door through the 'A' as well as windows looking to the south and west towards the mountains and trees.

The basement has a comfortable queen size Murphy bed (VRBO had this listed as a twin…it’s queen; there is not a way for us to edit that) for additional guests. Please ensure that we are notified in advance of your stay if this bed will be needed so that we can prepare it for you.

There is a full, ensuite, bathroom as part of the master bedroom and a full bath on the main floor, adjacent to the bedroom. The basement has a half bath. All the bathrooms are fully stocked with 'William Roam' toiletries, hairdryers and fluffy towels. Cozy bathrobes are also provided for your use.

The hygge main living area is designed to surround you in nature. It is not uncommon to see moose, fox and bears roaming in the trees. There is plenty room around the dining room table to enjoy a leisurely evening with friends and family. Enjoy the spacious and open floor plan as you relax by the wood burning fireplace. A record player and Sonos speaker are provided for your enjoyment. Board games can also be found on the music console to challenge your friends in friendly competition.

The upstairs has expansive views of the main A as well as a private nook to read your favorite novel or listen to music. The four-season porch is a great place to escape and enjoy some quite time while being bathed in the forest.

A large smart TV can be found in the basement, as well as a private desk with a large monitor (HDMI cable), should you need to work. The washer and dryer can also be found in the basement, stocked with detergent and other cleaning supplies.

The walkout basement has large doors that open to the expansive 2.5 acres of forested property. Find the trail and take a fun walk should you need to escape.

The decor at the Elf Haus is Mountain Modern, complete with local Colorado art. We have focused on a cozy, hygge vibe so that you can enjoy your escape to the mountains.

Beautiful Getaway in Mountains
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Elf Haus for a week to work remote and enjoy the mountains of Colorado in the summer. We were NOT disappointed. The house was immaculate and beautiful. They've thought of so many little details that I didn't know existed. The wifi worked great, the kitchen works for what you need, the coffee/espresso machine and entire coffee bar was so nice! The beds were comfortable, we worked on the deck in the mornings with coffee. There's beautiful hiking trails just up the road. Speaking of the road to the house, it's not particularly steep or worrisome in the summer; however, the washboarding of it (ripples) at times can creates a bumpy ride. 10000x worth the journey but be prepared for the car to rattle a little. Would 10/10 go back to this house and plan to again. We absolutely loved it.

Absolutely Recommend!
It is obvious that Rob and Amy have but a lot of work into the property. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed. We felt right at home when we arrived and got to spend the week relaxing, hiking, and overall enjoying nature. The road getting to the house is not graded well which Rob warned about ahead of time. He and Amy were very communicative before during and after our stay. Would definitely come back here again!

Perfect peaceful mountain getaway!
I stayed at Elf Haus with my 3yo daughter for two nights in April, and it was the perfect peaceful getaway in the mountains. The cabin was easy to find with the detailed instructions, and the neighborhood was quiet. (We even saw a fox outside the cabin one morning!) I loved how charming the cabin was—you can really tell it's been decorated for the owners use and not just as a rental. The fully equipped kitchen and espresso machine were a nice touch for not having to leave the cabin, and we loved the cozy fireplace and record player in the evening as it snowed outside. My daughter adds "I liked the cabin! Can we go again?" (We will definitely be back!)

In 2021, we embarked on a journey when we acquired the elf haus, affectionately named after our cherished furry companion. originally a DIY project dating back to the 1970s, this A-frame demanded substantial restoration to transform it into a livable abode. the extensive renovation process has been a profound learning experience, enriching us with newfound skills and insights. each step of the way has been an adventure, and now, we're thrilled to open our doors and share our slice of paradise with you!

Why they chose this property

The Elf Haus is secluded, on 2.5 acres of wooded mountain land. We love the smell of fresh air, listening to the trees blowing in the wind, and the escape and relaxation we can sink right into while at the property. Fairplay is such a great community with many outdoor adventures to suit all tastes.

What makes this property unique

The Elf Haus is a newly renovated (completed in 2024) A-Frame. The decor is Mountain Modern and is built to ensure the most comfortable stay.
