About Owner/Property Manager

Jay's roots in this valley and farm started upon his birth 59 years ago. So unusual these days! We love this farm and valley and would love to share the history of both when you stay! Jay remains an active member of this community, serving on the school board, now in his 20th year, currently School Board President. As well, serves as current food bank president of Snohomish Food bank. Being Jay's partner in life and business, together we continue to grow the farm, and constantly strive to make it a 'haycation' destination like no other! Priceless history and memories on this farm! We would love to share it with you and have your family make their own memories here!

Owner/Property Manager purchased this farmhouse in 1949

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Washington State

My family has owned this farm since 1949. The homestead house has been a part of this working farm since 1949. Previously, a dairy farm, we now operate the farm raising natural pork, beef and lamb. Not only can you enjoy the privacy of staying in an original, renovated, farmhouse to the farm, but you can participate in feeding, farm tours, hiking the 20 acres of trails on our farm, completely private. The views of the valley are stunning, and getting to town is 5 min.drive. It's all here! Who do you know that has grown up on the same farm all of their 59 years? Definitely a unique situation! Also, unique that you can rent two of the homes on the farm. Wedding parties can stay together, family reunions,or other events, can be held. We offer a covered area and grass areas for picnics, lawn games, or just relaxing! Lot's of red tail hawks,Eagles, bird watching, meditation and/or hiking on the property. The 20+acres of private, manicured hiking trails are rare and gorgeous!

What makes this farmhouse unique

What makes our property unique is that we have two homes available for your stay, both listed on VRBO. The other home (they share a driveway) is #426809. Waking up to the sounds of country life...quiet! Experiencing the farm animals, and the surrounding view within minutes from an historic town. Big city life in Seattle within an hours drive as well as the mountains and water, all within an 1/2 to an hour is a plus! Enjoy the moo! The high ceilings in the downstairs, with the beautiful light, create a very tranquil enviornment! View, view, view! Take a farm tour and see the lambs, calves and piglets.Great photo op for photographers, family photos, nature photos, you name it. The barns are sturdy and make a nice back drop. The kids can come see the barn owls. A nice learning experience for children! Let them roam without fear! Lot's of room to roam, exhale and recharge!

Hagen farm near Snohomish Washington is a great place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

My wife, mother-in-law, and I stayed at Hagen farm for almost a week. Very relaxing. We were up in Seattle for our daughter's wedding. There aren't many places left where you can sleep with your windows open at night. This was one of them. Reminded me of the house I grew up in. Very safe. Both houses are antique, original, and full of patina. The house was spic and span clean, the kitchen fully ready to cook, washer and dryer, water was pure to drink and lots of hot for bathing, and the beds were very comfortable. Everything worked well. Our host, Barbara, was a delight. We so enjoyed visiting with her. She was very attentive to our needs and easy to get a hold of as well as respecting our privacy. This is a real working farm with delightful animals, cows, sheep, pigs, bees, and chickens. Blackberries were everywhere. The location was also perfect as it was out of the city with breathtaking views of the Snohomish river valley as well as only a few minutes away from both towns of Mill Creek and Snohomish. Very quiet at night. We had Hagen farm honey with breakfast each day. The house faces east so the sunrise was a sight to behold as well as the moonrise at night. Fields of corn and hay were just across the road as well as a Gambrel barn built like over 100 years ago. No mosquitos or other insects. Mill Creek is a modern town with whatever you need. Snohomish is a great friendly small town like Mayberry RFD with a main street full of antiques and cafes. Weather was perfect, sat outside in morning with coffee and evening after supper to visit. TV was there but you don't need it. If you like country living with the ease of being close to civilization this is the place. So much better than a hotel. Took about 1 hour to get to Sea/Tac airport on a busy morning to catch our plane so the location is very convenient. We stayed in the smaller house that can easily hold 2-4. Next to it is a larger one with several beds for a large family. Frankly, I can't wait until we can go stay with Barbara again. Wouldn't change a thing. This is one of the best places I have ever stayed at bar none. If you ever wanted to stay on a farm this would be one to try.

Owner's Response: We loved meeting Ted, his wife and his mother-in-law! We really appreciated seeing them enjoy the property while they here, going for a hike in the woods, and enjoying the view! The farm's charm was not lost on these guests! The location of the farm made it easy to navigate to their daughter's wedding venue as well as Snohomish for dinner in celebration. We hope they all come back again and stay in the bigger home next time, to experience all that home has to offer, with more room, in case their daughter and new son in law want to come stay with them! Jay and I both look forward to hosting them all again!

Great Rural Setting

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here three nights and really enjoyed our stay. Barbara was very accommodating with a sincere interest in our comfort. She takes pride in her property. The house was well stocked for our needs. You know you're in an older farm home,(something we love) but the updates and decorating make for a very comfortable stay. We would definitely return!

Wedding retreat

  • 5 of 5

What a great place for family and friends to retreat to. We rented both homes. Great location. Beautiful view of the valley. Great outdoor area with fire pit to spend a day or an evening.

Barbara and her husband are very accommodating to what we needed for the pre wedding and post wedding funking. We had a great tour of the farm and we're able to help feed the animals.

Owner's Response: We were happy to be able to accommodate Teresa and her family in both homes for her son's wedding at Hidden Meadows! What a treat to get to sit down and visit with them before the wedding day. What a fun group! I hope they return!

Can I Live Here Forever?

  • 5 of 5

What a great stay! Was the perfect size for my family and had everything we needed. It was great to not need to pack the entire house especially on a 6 hour drive. Looking over the valley from the front yard was an extra perk and so relaxing. We got to see hot air balloons and skydivers! It was especially nice to be close to town but not feel like it. The owner Barbara was extremely accommodating & one of the nicest people you'll meet. Can't wait to visit here again someday.

Owner's Response: Right back at ya Emily! I wish you could stay here forever too! I am happy it worked out you could get in the house earlier, given your drive and your toddler! We really love it when guests love it here as much as we do! We don't take it for granted, the view and feel blessed that the farm, homes and property are shared with wonderful guests such as you and your family! We feel honored you found us and hope you come back soon!

The kids and I had a wonderful time at the farm!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the farm and the kids loved visiting with the cows every day. The house and property was clean and Barbara and Jay are the best and make everything so easy and pleasant. We enjoyed a Bon fire and grilled some fish just like home! We wished we didn't have to leave.

This house was full of charm, and surrounded by beauty.

  • 5 of 5

My family needed a change of scenery, and we got that along with fresh air, beautiful views, cows coming up close to the house, everything I imagined staying on a farm would be. The house had everything we needed. Barbara, (owner) was just a phone call away, gave us a tour of the property, and was a wonderful host. I cant wait to come back again.

Owner's Response: Thank you Stephanie! The feeling is mutual! I love it when guests appreciate the little touches, the view and all the farm has to offer! We certainly hope you come back! Fall is also one of my favorite seasons to visit this area! So next time you are in the area, Snohomish is especially glowing in the fall! Until then!

The farm and home is situated in the hub of activity in the Snohomish valley, and close enough to local hiways and freeways to gain access to downtown Seattle to the south, discount shopping and casinos to the north, the Cascade Mts. 1 hr to the east, and Puget Sound 15 min. to the west! Centrally located for everything the NW has to offer! Very family friendly. Perfect for wedding parties to rent one or both homes on the farm. Having family in town for the holidays? No room at your place? The farm is a perfect place to land! Make it your home away from home while vacationing, taking a girl's weekend, visiting family in the area! You are literally in the heart of the valley, within minutes of all local activities, events and festivals. No long country drives, no neighbors, and the owner is not overlooking your farm stay while here. But, we live on the same farm, so if you should want a farm tour, please ask! We love to share the farm!
