The Sea Turtle cottage is located in the heart of exciting Gulfport within walking distance to the beach, parks, casino and Historic Downtown Gulfport's restaurants, shops and bars. The Sea Turtle is on the Mississippi Department of Archives and History covenant register and has been carefully restored to the charms of yesteryear. If you enjoy the ambiance of 'days gone by, then the Sea Turtle Cottage with its original hardwood floors, tongue and groove ceilings and comfortable and eclectic antique furnishings is the place for you!
Sleeping accommodations are great. The parlor bedroom features a four poster bed, antique chifforobe trestle table and flat screen TV. An antique full size burl maple bed with matching armoire and an antique single brass bed in the second bedroom is just perfect for the aunts and nieces. A French Provincial queen bed and trundle day bed in a third bedroom with it's nautical touches is seaside cottage chique.
Dining and entertaining for large groups is artfully easy. The graceful dining room table has two leafs for expanding to easily accommodate parties of ten. The kitchen is equipped with all the tools you'll need to make fabulous meals to wine and dine with friends and family.
Relax in the parlor living room where you and your musical guests and friends can have a fun night playing the spinet piano or guitar. Or gather in the sunroom where you will find a rattan love seat, two upholstered chairs and plenty of pillows and places to flop to watch your favorite shows or DVDs on the flat screen TV.
Two full baths make it easy to get up and get going. One bath includes a bathtub and shower combination that is great for the little guys.
This is a perfect vacation spot for family gatherings, and casino goers alike. The kids will love the splash pad at West Side Park located just a stroll around the block. And Jones Park with its scheduled entertainment events, (Gulfport Music Fest in May and the Fishing Rodeo returns July 4th weekend!), and picnic areas and playgrounds is so close you can walk to it. The newly constructed Gulfport Harbor will delight you with fishing piers and the offerings of fresh fish and shrimp from the boats (summer 2013). Or in season, take a ride on the Ship Island Excursion Boat leaving from the harbor to tour Historic Fort Massachusetts and leave you to do some 'barrier island' beach combing. The Beach Comber Trolley stops at Jones Park, ready to pick you up and carry you up and down the coast for even more shopping and dining fun. Even golfing! And the Island View Casino is a good neighbor living just across the street ready and waiting for whenever you're feeling lucky! Get in the car and you’ll find more fun with outlet malls, discount stores, golf courses and the Gulf Island Water Park.
Come and stay and play at the Sea Turtle Cottage. I just know you will make some great memories.

About Beth Swigris
My family and I have lived on this street just a few houses up from the Sea Turtle Cottage for 20 years. Our home was lucky enough to survive the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, but many other homes in our community were not so lucky. It is the love for the coast and the desire to help restore and rebuild our community that brought us to purchase the Sea Turtle Cottage. Thanks to the partnership between my mother and me, we were able to complete the restoration of this charming cottage and offer a delightful place for friends and families to vacation and gather in this exciting town. I hope we can share our pleasures of the coast with you, our quests, for many years to come and that you will return time and time again. Owners, Beth Swigris and Martha Sexton

Neighborhood was not for us
Sea Turtle Cottage was spacious, and generally comfortable, and the kitchen was well-equipped. The linens and towels were of good quality and plentiful. The exterior needs some TLC, as does the sagging floor in the front corner of the dining room. The sunroom where the large TV was located could use a sofa and comfortable chairs instead of the wicker loveseat and little chairs it was furnished with.
Based on the photo of the deck and the privacy fence, we expected the backyard would be fully fenced, but it was not. So we bought a dust barrier to close off the driveway and the side yard to keep our dog confined.
Our big problem was the neighborhood. When we made the booking, we didn’t appreciate what being across the street from the Island View Casino entailed. When we arrived, we encountered a loud, profane argument in progress in right front of the house involving a man who claimed his property had been stolen by the occupant of a car that was racing away. He asked us to call the police — not the best welcome for our planned month-long stay. After a series of nighttime incidents of drunken arguments and multiple car alarms in the casino parking lot, we contacted Beth who assured us that this was not typical. Her home is in the next block down the street, and I think if Sea Turtle Cottage were on her block we might not have had these negative experiences. Closing the windows provided some relief from the casino-related disturbances and the noise of cars speeding up and down the street (no one seemed to observe the 25 mph speed limit)
We realize our experience at Sea Turtle Cottage was much different than other guests had. But based on our stay, a return visit is not in our future.
Great place for family vacation
What a quaint and cozy little house! The weather was mixed, so we spent a lot of time indoors as well as out. The house was well laid out with various living spaces for our large family to hang out in. It's also an easy walk to the beach. The neighborhood is safe and friendly. I especially appreciated the plentiful supply of towels and toilet paper :-). The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was just such a cute and cheerful space. Totally recommend!
Love the Cottage. Very clean and comfortable.
So nice to be close to beach and intertainment.
Cute/Fun Cottage in Gulfport
Stay here if you want clean, comfy accommodations along with great communication with hostess. Everything you need for your stay is provided. Backyard is awesome with outdoor seating, grill, and games. Great place as our hub for a family wedding. Thank you, Beth for allowing us to stay in your cottage. BTW...pizzeria was soooooo good!! Thanks for the gift certificate!
Sea Turtle Cottage is a happy place. Its shabby chic is charming and its space airy.
We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and deck and walking through the surprisingly quiet neighborhood. The beach and Gulfport's downtown offerings of restaurants are within walking distance. The usual assortment of chain restaurants and stores, as well as two malls are within a few miles if that suits you.
The property manager is helpful and responds quickly to telephone calls or text messages. We hope to return soon. .
Couldn't have choosen anywhere better.
Beth was nothing short of amazing! Check in and check out was a breeze the house provided plenty of space for our entire group everything was clean. It was close to everything but just far enough off the path that it was relaxing. Would definitely stay here again if we're ever back in Gulfport!
Beth, thank you for such a positive experience for our family 😊
