We absolutely loved the time we had in the Outer Banks. This property was beautifully renovated and incredibly clean. Our host was friendly, incredibly responsive and had great suggestions for our visit during the off-season. The home was dog friendly as advertised. The amenities both at the house and the location being easily walkable to both the beach and the bay were ideal. We would highly recommend this property to anyone staying in Kill Devil Hills.
Great place...loved having the covered deck with outside TV....even the teens lived to hang out there (and the dog).Very clean and good location to the beach (although walk across highway would be tough with beach "stuff" and kids). We drove and parked in public access...worked out just fine.Would definitely recommend!
We had a great week at Hideaway on Helga. The house has been recently updated and was a convenient and comfortable home away from home for our week in Kill Devil Hills. We stayed with our two teenage children and two of their friends and it was roomy enough for everyone. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and everything throughout the house was very clean. The beach was just a short walk (less than 15 minutes) away. The neighborhood was calm and quiet and I spent many hours reading on the screened porch, nestled in the live oaks. Would definitely come back!
The house, location and host all surpassed expectations.
Natalie was extremely accommodating and went way above and beyond what was needed of her to do. I will forever be grateful for the kindness she shared for our crazy group.
The home is lovely and the perfect size if you have a large group looking for a beach stay. The beach is extremely close and can be walked to if needed. The decor and layout are very cosy and inviting.
There is a lot of interesting things to do nearby, we had some cloudy days but when the sun broke the clouds had two beach days, went on a charter boat and caught some fish, visited some local restaurants that were very good and had a barbeque back at the residence. If you are considering booking this listing, I highly recommend it!
While both the host, Natalie, and the actual property were very nice, one of the big selling points of the property was the outdoor space (outdoor bar and the fenced backyard, helpful with a toddler and dog). In actuality, there was an electrical issue that kept us from using the outdoor space that first night and required electricians at the house for half of the second day. Stuff like that happens, so not a big deal. However, the spider webs that were literally all over the first level were unacceptable. We had to personally clean off the chairs around the bar and some of the bar area to sit down and my son found some of the bigger spider webs with his face (with no lights) the first night. Also, the fence covers about 90% of the yard, so don't let your dog off leash and watch the little kids. The inside of the property was very clean and well-appointed. Also, the property owner, Natalie, was quite responsive when I told her that there were no curtains on a couple of the windows and she sent something over the very next day. The neighborhood was also very nice and people were friendly. The distance to the beach, if taking a cart and a bunch of stuff, was well over a 15 minute walk (depending on the crosswalk light on the main road), so we ended up driving to the public beach - but that was personal preference. The nicest part of the house for us was the screened in porch on the upper deck of the house. We spent a lot of family time out there. Overall, a very nice stay.
