To say that Sandpiper is special is a bit of an understatement. This Gulf-front home has been described as "Nicholas Sparks meets Cape San Blas" - and we think that sums it up perfectly! This is not your standard rental house for a group of people looking for a typical summer beach trip. Sandpiper is different. This beautiful 2-bedroom, 2.5-bath home comfortably sleeps up to four people and is a quiet intimate treasure catering to a couple looking for a romantic getaway... to sisters hoping to connect and make new family memories or reminisce about old ones... to close friends wanting to talk, play games, work puzzles, and share special times together... to a small family longing for an "old fashioned" vacation... to someone needing a retreat to write, recuperate, or find themself... or to snowbirds searching for a personal home away from home for the winter. So, if you are looking for a truly special place where you can unwind, decompress, relax, and appreciate your surroundings, then Sandpiper is the place for you.
As you come up the stairs and in the front door, you quickly realize that you will be staying in someone's home, who has gone out of their way to make you feel welcome. The first floor has a lovely and charming king suite where you can settle in and rest peacefully. When you wake up, you will be able to see the Gulf glistening in the distance outside the window beside your bed. Also on the first floor is an inviting open living area with expansive views and extremely comfortable couches for gathering, reading, lounging, or even napping. In addition, an extremely well-stocked kitchen provides all the conveniences of home for you to prepare meals without having to leave this wonderful little oasis unless you just want to go out. The dining area is the perfect spot to enjoy meals together or have fun playing your favorite game. And if you want to draw or write (or if you need to work), there is a large desk with plenty of workspace available. The whole area just calls for you to relax and enjoy the peace.
There are sliding glass doors from the dining and living areas that lead out to a fantastic, screened porch with two comfy chairs and an outdoor table with seating for four. This is a great place to enjoy the lovely view and feel the gentle sea breeze, while any lingering stress slips quietly away. The screen porch opens onto a small sundeck with additional seating for two, and the stairs go down to the beach boardwalk that runs alongside the property. Back inside, a convenient half-bath and a full laundry room finish out the first floor.
Upstairs, you will find a fun and whimsical queen suite located off the bright and comfy TV room. Cozy seating offers the perfect place to curl up and watch your favorite show or make it a quiet movie night. Sliding doors open onto a large deck, where you are greeted with another gorgeous view of the Gulf. The coast at this point is in the shape of a crescent, so from Sandpiper's deck, you can see all the way from Money Bayou around to the point at the turn of the Cape on Eglin Airforce Base. You can almost feel the hug of the coastline. Everywhere on the Cape has amazing views, but truth be told, this one is pretty spectacular. In the early evenings, you may be treated to the special sight of horseback riders peacefully strolling along the beach.
Sandpiper welcomes you to a sleepy little gated residential community of only 6 houses nestled among old growth pines and reminiscent of old Florida. From here you are just 15 minutes from the restaurants and shopping in Port St Joe, and you're just a "stone's throw" from the fantastic pickleball courts at Salinas Park. There is a small, very basic community pool usually open from April 1-September 30 near the house. The pool is seldom used and we cannot guarantee it will be available. (Note-bottom of pool is permanently stained from hurricane.)
The south end of the Cape has a wide flat beach - perfect for long walks. It is also less dense than the north end beach, so it's a great place to sit and enjoy a lazy afternoon. Shore fishing is a popular pastime. Evening bonfires are allowed on our beaches, as is beach driving (with a permit). Sandpiper provides four beach chairs for your convenience. There is an outdoor fish sink, as well as a large outdoor shower for rinsing off when you get back from the beach. And the carport offers covered space for two vehicles.
From the moment you arrive, it is apparent that the owners of Sandpiper truly understand what a special gem they have - and that is reflected in their furnishings and decor, how comfortable and well-appointed everything is, and in all the little touches that make people feel at home in this slice of paradise. So, if you are looking for somewhere a little more personal - a little more delightful - a little more intimate, and a little step above, we invite you to experience the unique peace and tranquility offered by this exceptional home.

Great location and beautiful house! Great proximity to Port St Joe. Spent 3 days on the beach and didn’t have anyone within 50 yards of us. Perfect spot for a relaxing beach vacation.

…have frequented the Cape for over 35 years. Sandpiper has to be the most well-appointed house I’ve ever rented. Beautiful. And the location is stunning — sunrise to sunset. Can’t wait to visit again.

This is a perfect house to get away and relax! It is close to the beach and the kitchen has EVERYTHING you need. So nice to rent a house with a fully stocked kitchen. The only down side was the small TV in the bedroom on the main floor and no TV on the main level of the house. The auto ice maker was also not working as well. The beach chairs and outdoor shower was a plus! Beautiful interior and up to date appliances.

So glad you had everything you needed. Sandpiper is really made for relaxing and getting away from it all. Another reason why the owners have a TV in the upstairs living room and not the main level. We appreciate the feedback on the Ice Maker - unfortunately some fridges just don't keep up with enough ice needed for cold drinks in a hot climate so that's why we added the regular ice trays for our guests to use to help with that. So glad you enjoyed your time with us. Be sure to let us know if we can help with any future travel to our little piece of paradise.
Thanks, and have an ez day! Ros & Carolyn
This property quickly became our favorite vacation spot! The walk to the beach is easy and short. The house was well stocked with any and everything we needed to cook and stay entertained on rainy days. The covered porches were great for early morning coffee, late evenings, and reading during the rain. The views were amazing from every window you look out of. The community was quiet and almost felt as if it was private. We enjoyed it so much we are already planning to stay again next year!

What a perfect, charming beach house! Our family stayed for a week at this beautiful property and we had the best time. The pool gate was locked when we first arrived, but this was quickly resolved after messaging property management. The communication was quick and they made sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable, and the views were outstanding! We would love to stay here again in the future. The Cape has part of our hearts now, and so does this special property. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Hi Katie,
We so glad you guys enjoyed your trip to Sandpiper and we do hope you will come back to us time and time again. We love to see memories being made here and appreciate great guests like yourselves. Thanks again for your patience with the pool as sometimes things are just out of our control but we're glad they got it opened up again quickly for you guys.
Let us know when we can get you back on the calendar in there :)
Thanks, and have an ez day!

Beautiful home and views. Cozy beds. Great family time. Draw backs: There is no TV in the main area. There is one on the second floor but would be nice to have one on the main floor. TV in master room was small like a computer screen . Too small .Bathroom showers drained extremely slow so while showering you would have water backed up above your feet.

We're so glad you seemed to enjoy Sandpiper with those amazing views and space for making great family memories at the beach. The owners have made that downstairs living room a place for friends or families to gather, relax and just enjoy some old fashioned time together.
But to clarify for our future guests, there are TV's in each bedroom & in the sitting area upstairs - they are just not the focal point of the home and so may be smaller than in your own home. We just think it's part of the charm of vacationing here :)
As with all homes, maintenance is sometimes needed but once we know, we take care of things quickly and so we always appreciate the feedback.
All the best,
Ros & Carolyn
Very clean, restful place to stay. A short walk over the dunes to a very clean beach. The home is decorated with local art pieces carefully selected. Rainy day.. no problem, a very well curated library of books. Wonderful views of the gulf. We saw dolphins playing, from the screen porch over morning coffee. Collected many shells. The homes are close together however we were there in April and it was quiet. Bathrooms are small but very nice. Kitchen lovely and extremely well stocked. We look forward to staying here again.
