About Thor & Courtney

I have lived in Austin, Texas for 21 years and enjoy everything about this state including the Texas Coast and wonderful rivers like the Guadalupe. My wife and I love the water and enjoy bringing our kids including our black labs to the water.

Thor & Courtney purchased this house in 2015

Why Thor & Courtney chose Hill Country

The 100'+ tall cypress trees on this property are amazing. Lots of shade and cool water breeze make this a hidden gem. My Kids love the swimming, fishing, and the huge camp fire site and me and my wife enjoy the quiet, peaceful surroundings.

What makes this house unique

Great location, close to town but just far enough to avoid all the noise. The 100' trees and cool water make it a perfect destination for a quick getaway. If you want to have fun floating the river call our friends at Rockin R tubes and they will pick you up and take you home.

Beautiful, quiet location

  • 4 of 5

Had a wonderfull weekend here with my family. My two boys, my neices, and nephews enjoyed the water all weekend swimming, fishing, and kayaking. We adults enjoyed the fire pit in the evening. I would like to come back again.

Very nice family spot

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay with the property being very family friendly with lots of water toys. The bathroom shower is very small and the water pressure is poor. The couches can't fold out at the same time so really it should only sleep 8. We did have a couple of small issues at the first but the owner was very responsive and fixed the issues right away. He is a sweet, caring man. We had a wonderful time and recommend the property for families.

Very nice and quiet - comfortable! I love the location - very easy access to I35!

Loved it, but needs a new rug in the bathroom - the musty smell has taken that one over. Unavoidable based on the river location and age of the property, but a fresh rug would help!

Outside pretty...inside terrible

  • 1 of 5

We arrived for a four night stay at the cabin. We had 8 people all together. My first impression was "wow" this is beautiful! The property was gorgeous! The yard was lush and green and the water looked awesome! Then we entered the property.... First thing that hit me was the smell. It smelled very musty. And I know the owner will say that things smell like that because it is by the water. Well I live by the water and I can tell you that it is not suppose to smell like that. It had dark brown extremely dirty carpet throughout! It was terribly gross. What I believed to have contributed to the smell. The beds were terribly uncomfortable and when they say it has two pull out couches that means only one couch can be pulled out at a time. The other is too close and touches the other bed. My kids had to get the other mattress out of the couch and double up mattresses because they were so uncomfortable. We were told not to put the window units below 72. Well in June, let's just say we were miserabley hot. Regardless of his reason that they will freeze over. He should figure something else out for his guests. Also it would help if it had ceilings fans to move the air. We had to go buy box fans to keep cooler. The pans were terrible! How hard is it to go buy a large skillet? I know Amazon has some great ones for less than 20 dollars. The shower head in the shower was so gunked full of stuff it sprayed out in very direction but on you! All it takes is some bleach and a little elbow grease and it would have worked fine. This property is beautiful and its a shame the cabin was crappy. They price it for the location and I can understand your camping and are mostly outside but come on? This little house could be so much more! Sucks they won't spend the time or money. Let me say that we were very aware this wasn't a four star stay. We were limited in our selection of places due to booking in February for our June stay. So I fully understand it wasn't going to be the greatest. But everything I am complaining about could easily be fixed if the owners would take some of the money from our overpriced stay and do a little fixing up. For instance, pull up that NASTY carpet and just put some linoleum down! It would be cheap and SANITARY! Buy some new mattresses. Put a couple ceiling fans in the house. And if you can't. Then put blinds and darker curtains to retain the cool air. Spruce it up and it would be awesome! And definitely worth the money then.
