The Sailfish - Beautiful Emerald Isle, NC;

The Sailfish is a private beach house for rent in Emerald Isle, NC, at the beginning of the Crystal Shores of the NC Outer Banks. The beaches on Emerald Isle are gorgeous white sand, great for swimming and fishing. No hotels or commercial activity on the beach makes this an unspoiled, family-oriented place to enjoy the beach. We rent the Sailfish only to family groups of up to 14 persons. Our house sits on the 2nd row, right across the street from beachfront. Walk down our walkway and cross the small street to the public beach access right in front of the house. If you want to go clamming in the sound, just walk down our driveway and cross the street in the other direction, to reach the sound.

The Sailfish is fully air conditioned, has two floors, ocean views from each floor, and 7 comfortable bedrooms. Two rooms dedicated to play: the upstairs sunroom with game tables, and the downstairs rec room with ping pong table. Our parents built this lovely large space so that our family could vacation together. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we still do!

Upstairs, there are 4 bedrooms and two full baths that interconnect between bedrooms. Two ocean-view bedrooms have 1 queen bed each. Two other bedrooms each have 2 double beds. The large, airy living room has a vaulted ceiling and ceiling fans. Large dining table with seating up to 12 persons. Fully equipped kitchen. Spacious sunroom with two tables, perfect for games, working remotely, or extra seating for dining. We keep an assortment of games, puzzles and books in the sunroom, available for guests to enjoy. Or you can sit on the deck/balcony on the upper floor with a cool drink after a day at the beach.

Downstairs, there are 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. One queen bedroom has ocean view, one bedroom with double bed and desk set-up that is great for working remotely, and one bedroom with 2 twin beds. Also downstairs is our rec room, with full size ping pong table, and sitting area with cable tv. Kitchenette downstairs as well, with full size refrigerator/ freezer (great to have with a large family!), microwave and small dishwasher.

There is plenty of parking for your family in our large gravel parking area behind the house! For more photos and the contract link, see our website:

Why Marcie Rollins chose Emerald Isle

We began traveling from Greensboro, NC, to Emerald Isle in 1962! Our family has grown, the beach has changed, the house has been rebuilt after several hurricanes, but we still love it! We know you will also...

What makes this house unique

Emerald Isle is a beautiful beach, and this particular stretch is even nicer because it is not crowded. The house has been specifically set up for family groups to be able to eat together, play together, and enjoy the summertime! And by the way, we had a new deck built in 2017. And the 2 upstairs baths have been completely upfitted as of 2017!

Guestbook comments from the owner

My family loves to stay at The Sailfish in Emerald Isle, NC. The beach access is very convenient and the house is large enough that we can invite extended family and friends to join us. The downstairs is a perfect place for teenagers have fun playing ping pong and video games or watching movies. The upstairs open kitchen/dining/living area is large enough that everyone can sit to eat meals or to play games. The upstairs deck is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee and enjoy the sea air

Excellent vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

The Sailfish exceeded our expectations! We enjoyed the layout of the house, with bedrooms upstairs and down. We have year-old twin grandchildren, so having doors by all the stairs was very helpful. The house is spacious, and we enjoyed the large table, plus the game room next to the living room and kitchen. It was great to have a refrigerator upstairs and downstairs. The view of the ocean was wonderful from the deck, and the beach was never crowded. It was a close walk, but there were quite a few steps to get there. There were lots of beach toys, chairs, and hats to use at the house. Parking is plentiful, and the location is great. The owner was very helpful in answering questions I had prior to the trip. We would love to return there next summer!

Great Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

The accommodations were excellent. Loved the fact that they had bedrooms up and down. My grandchildren were able to take naps downstairs during the day away from the noise of other family members and it gave adult children their own space when needed. Loved having a nice big table for family dinners and having pots big enough. We took our own chairs, canopy and life jackets for the grandchildren which wasn't necessary. The house provided all we would have needed! Next time we will know! We liked having refrigerators and bathrooms up and down. Easy access to the beach. Owner responded quickly to questions I had before our trip. She gave contact information in case we needed her during our stay. I would recommend this house and plan to rent it again the future! The price was a plus too!

Great home for large family!

  • 5 of 5

We had a beautiful week at Emerald Isle. The beach and ocean are exceptionally beautiful there. At low tide, the grandchildren enjoyed the tide pools and one day there was an abundance of sea life to see just in the tide pool. We just loved it and we will definitely return. The Sailfish met all of our needs! We are a large family with children, and grandchildren. This home has 7 bedrooms - 4 on the main living level: two on either side of the family room kitchen area, with a buddy bath between each. Two of these bedrooms have a double bed, and the other two have two double beds. Off of the main family room and kitchen level there is a sun room that is perfect for playing cards and board games. Downstairs, there are 3 more bedrooms, one has twin beds, one has a double bed and one has a queen bed. The downstairs also has a small kitchenette, laundry room and 2 more baths, and another family/game room. The upstairs level and downstairs level both have decks that face the ocean and are nice to sit on and relax. The upstairs deck, which is very spacious, has a great view of the ocean and there are plenty of deck chairs for everyone to enjoy the ocean view. This home sits on a very large and private lot and the beach access is right across the road. Marcie the owner and Al the local maintenance gentleman were both very efficient in answering any questions or concerns that came up during our stay. Our family was very comfortable staying in the Sailfish, it is a practical and spacious home that is "very well loved" by its owners.

It is a great home for a large family to really enjoy each other at the beach!! Highly recommended :)

Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

we had two families traveling together, with a total of 11 people, including our newlywed daughter and son in law. There was plenty of room for all of us to have our privacy, but of room to gather as well. Even on a stormy day it was nice just sitting on the porch watching the ocean or playing cards or a game in the sun room.

If you do not mind not having pool access or a hot tub, this is an awesome house, we would not hesitate to vacation at the Sailfish again.

We wanted a peaceful week without drama, and got one. The house is very comfortable and roomy, with the back porch being the crowning glory. (We sat watching the ocean and a few storms). We were right on the bike path to town, very convenent. The kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs, and the stove looked new. Overall, a peaceful and wonderful week.

My Birthday Week!

  • 5 of 5

One of my most peaceful vacations! The house is very large and comfortable. Enjoyed doing crafts in the sun room and relaxing on back porch. The covered back porches are very nice upstairs and down. The view was amazing! The lot is very large and high above all the lots across the street by the beach. A short walk to the beach and amazing waters. We enjoyed shopping in a couple of the small towns around the area. Can't wait to go back!
