Awesome location! The views were so beautiful. Awesome home! Very nicely equipped and decorated Awesome host! They were available by text and answered the questions we had within minutes. My family is already trying to plan another stay.
This property was wonderful! The house was so clean and the beds were very comfortable. The quick walk to the beach was easy and the beach was perfect for sunsets, moonsets, and Yooperlites! We will absolutely stay there again!
Perfect home base for our son’s graduation from MTU. The cottage was spotless and cozy. Location was a quick 30” trip into Houghton but far enough away from tech to avoid the congestion of a graduation weekend. Such a gem to be located right on beautiful Lake Superior. We’ve already booked a stay for next year!
Loved the tranquility of the area. Lake Superior views right from the living room. Wood sauna was an added bonus! Comfy beds and very well supplied kitchen. Definitely will be returning to this spot!
Overall, we were very happy with the property. It was extremely clean, beautifully decorated, and the location was unbeatable. The only drawback that we would mention is that the queen sized bed desparately needs a new mattress. My husband and I ended up having to sleep in separate beds to avoid rolling into each other because of the dip in the center.

You can see Lake Superior out of the side windows. The area was having a blizzard and we took a x-country route to get there. Big mistake. Taking us41 to Calumet was way better in bad weather. Very cute place. Lots of parking, snow plow service didn't come until we had already shoveled out and headed to town for the day. More and better shovels would have been appreciated.

Great Location | Decent Home
The location is beautiful - it definitely makes me want to visit the area again. Communication and easy check in were 5 stars. Location of seeing the peaceful lake just steps from the cabin was 5 stars. Gave a couple of 3 stars due to uncomfortable furniture - this is not a place to stay in and cozy up for multiple days. Luckily, we had a lot of out and about plans; the living room had very uncomfortable chairs and couch. There was also a lot of dust under furniture (we dropped something and it rolled under the couch) & around vents/ceiling. Compared to other rentals we've stayed in, it just didn't feel as clean as it could be with more attention. Overall, the beauty of the land draws you in and I would consider staying again just for that. If there was more comfortable furniture and not as much dust, this would definitely be a 5 star, go-to U.P. rental.

Great location, some issues.
It was a great location and accurate description. Because the house is so remote my cell phone had no signal (which I have no issue with). My problem was the WiFi password was not listed in the welcome booklet… so I actually had to drive about 2 miles back the way I came (thank goodness not to many turns - no maps) so I could get enough of a signal to log into the VRBO app to get the password from that. (No phone signal so I couldn’t call the owners) That was very frustrating.
Note: all 3 chairs and sofa are NOT comfortable… chair seats are broken and sofa had a box spring type seat that you feel the springs and box. They all look great… but have issue sitting in for any amount of time.

Oh my… First off anywhere on the shoreline of the keweenaw peninsula has no or low cell service. Luckily I have WiFi enabled calling that is in stated in the initial information when booked as well as a wall placard in the living room, the cottage binder has it stated again, as well as sent to you AGAIN prior to your visit a final time… we do this repetitively for those guests who might breeze through the information and then panic that it wasn’t provided. I would advise a staycation next trip.

Cabin is gorgeous and clean, but. .
The cabin is wonderful - very clean and well-outfitted, nice decorating, comfortable beds, extra little touches that made the stay very enjoyable. We had fun on the beach, as we are very interested in rock collecting, and there is an abundance here. There is a small creek which comes out on the beach, nice and shallow and fun for kiddos to play in. Our only disappointment with this property, is that it is definitely not beach front, it is a distant water view, and there is a large home and small cabin between this cabin and the view of the lake. I feel that the cost of this cabin relative to the proximity of the lake was somewhat on the high side. I felt that I should post this, as there are a number of properties listed in this price range which are truly beach front. Additionally, this is the second time we had this issue surface. In the future, I intend to check photos from the water toward the rental property, so we get a good visual on proximity of cabin to water, and whether or not there are other obstacles such as excessive tree growth completely blocking view, or in this case, structures and distance limiting the beach experience. Otherwise - the cabin was perfect for us, and the beach was perfect for us. It would have been nice if the 2 had been closer to one-another, and a little more private.

I will let all of the other 27 FIVE star reviews speak for this three star... You really can't please some people no matter how hard you try. This guest never let on that there was an issue and only raved to me when I inquired about her stay so far. There is literally nothing between the cottage and shore which is 150 feet in front. I do have a smaller cottage to the left on the shore which is about 100 feet from this property and a 5 bedroom beach house to the right which is also about 100 feet away. I'm not sure how much more private it could be considering these as well as my 2 others across the street are nearly 3 miles till the next cluster of homes in one direction and .5 in the other. It did not surprise me that she had an issue with cost as it took nearly 2 weeks after she checked out to get paid but no word of discontent until the vacation was over. Kind of like wanting your meal for free after cleaning your plate...
We had an amazing stay in Keweenwa county. The cottage was amazing- it had everything we needed! It was so cute. The beach was amazing. It was super clean. I would hope highly recommend this property. It was amazing for our family.
We have stayed here for the last several years in the winter for skiing and love it. We would love to come back at other times of the year to explore other activities/seasons!
Our cabin was beautiful, clean and cozy! the shoreline was amazing and the sunsets are breathtaking, this location will hold and special place in our hearts after getting engaged this weekend up there!
Thanks again,
Bill & Taelor
This little cabin was the perfect little getaway after a busy season for my husband and I. It was right on the lake and a great distance from town - just about 10 minutes away. Super cute, clean, and just what it looks like in the pictures. They have a few different cabins under this management in this same location so we'd love to come back and check out their other properties, too! Definitely recommend. Thanks for a great stay!
Enjoyed a great week with previous neighbors, both couples celebrating June anniversaries. Location is great to access all of Keweenaw Peninsula. Ate breakfast and dinner in. Kitchen and grill were very functional. Had unusual heat for June, and early onset of biting flies and mosquitoes. Cottage windows were lacking some screens and kitchen screen door needs work to keep the bugs out. Hopefully more attention will be given to this before the brunt of summer arrives. At the same time, windows all need washing. Hard to enjoy the amazing views through cloudy windows. (FYI, did not ask for these things to be done during our stay). Would stay here again. :)
We loved this quiet getaway with water access. Though situated near other rentals, we felt we had plenty of privacy and space to explore. The water provides great sunsets. House is adequately supplied and you can get anything you need in nearby Calumet. We will be back!

About the host
Hosted by Philip Roberts
Hello, My name is Philip Roberts. My grandparents purchased this property in 1927 as a residence where they had a small farm and ran the C&H Mining Co. Waterworks. Year- round my grandmother enjoyed sharing this special place with the most attentive hospitality and today we strive to meet that standard. While there have been some changes over the years, we like to think that time has somewhat stood still. The serene peacefulness of this little private beach location is unparalleled here on the Keweenaw Peninsula. Enjoy the most restful sleep, breath the cleanest air, and swim in the cleanest most refreshing body of freshwater.
Why they chose this property
The Roberts family has enjoyed this beach property for three generations. We completely remodeled the cottage in 2010-11 to upgrade and conform to travelers needs and preferences. We love to share this special place with visitors from all corners of the world.
What makes this property unique
Running alongside this cottage is a small babbling brook, otherwise known as Brewery Creek, that opens up to the lake on the beach. On the beach you can enjoy a camp fire under the stars or even catch the northern lights, swim the Great Lake Superior, hunt the perfect rock or agate, fish till the sun goes down, barbecue on the charcoal grill and picnic at the picnic table, or take a nature walk and enjoy the natural beauty of the beach and forest. In the winter, ski, snowmobile, or snow-shoe right out your front door.
