About Philip Roberts
Hello, My name is Philip Roberts. My Grandparents purchased this property in 1927 as a residence where they had a small farm and ran the C&H Mining Waterworks which provided city water for Calumet and surrounding area.
Philip Roberts purchased this Cottage in 1999
Why Philip Roberts chose Calumet
The Roberts family has enjoyed this beach property for three generations. We built the cottage in 1999 to share this special place with visitors from all corners of the world.
What makes this Cottage unique
Running along side of the cottage is a small babbling trout stream that opens up to the lake on the beach. On the beach you can enjoy a camp fire under the stars or even catch the northern lights, swim the Great Lake Superior, hunt the perfect rock or agate, fish till the sun goes down, barbecue on the charcoal grill and picnic at the picnic table, or take a nature walk and enjoy the natural beauty of the beach and forest. In the winter, ski, snowmobile, or snow-shoe right out your front door.

Wonderful stay! The cottage was clean and well-equipped, with a wonderful view. Very quiet location with a few other cottages. Philip was very responsive to questions. We look forward to returning!
Perfect cottage for our weekend in Michigan
Very, very nice cabin right on Lake Superior. Perfect for our weekend for Michigan Tech graduation. Will absolutely stay there again when in the area. Thank you.
Wonderful quiet spot on Superior!
We loved the few days we spent in this cute cabin celebrating my husband's birthday. The sound of the creek as we sipped coffee on the deck, the beautiful view of Superior, and the great location made for the perfect relaxing weekend.
A wonderful place anytime of year!
Another wonderful visit to our favorite place.
Philip is a great host! We will be back.
The Portside has the BEST view!
We rented this cottage while visiting my son at Michigan Tech. The drive isn't bad to MTU (about 20 min). The cabin was clean and had everything we needed in it. Thank you for the miscellaneous items in the basket. The coffee packet saved me! We didn't get a chance to use the sauna or do much around the cottage as we were either at MTU or skiing while we were there. Fit our needs perfectly though! Thank you!
It was a great get-away!
I was expecting a rustic cabin. There were lots of nice touches that we greatly appreciated from soaps, coffee pot, microwave, pictures & reading material from the area. Beautiful view of Lake Superior! We will definitely come again.
Great sandy beach with rock speckled shore line for rock-hounds and agate pickers.
