Our year-round 3800 square foot home on 212 acre full recreation Lily Lake offers ample living space with incredible lake views, abundant land and water activities, and the peace and solitude of the great Northwoods. Listen to the loons and whippoorwills, watch our resident eagle take flight, enjoy the beautiful sunsets, or just relax by the fire with family and friends. Our property consists of 3 wooded acres with 220 feet of lake frontage and beautiful unspoiled views.
Our clean, 8-year old home is fully-furnished and has warm, inviting decor that gives you the comforts of home with nature at your doorstep. On the main floor you will find the great room complete with a large, beautiful slate fireplace, cathedral ceiling, and abundant windows with lake views – a favorite gathering place. Adjacent to the great room is a generous sized kitchen which boasts a large hand-chiseled family-size table which seats 8-10, an eat-at kitchen island with seating for 3, and an additional corner breakfast nook that seats up to 5. This well-stocked kitchen also offers a full line of new appliances and more beautiful lake views. A powder room and separate laundry room complete with full size washer and dryer are located off the kitchen. Also off the kitchen is an oversized deck complete with a gas grill and deck furniture -- a perfect place for eating, taking in sunsets, or stargazing. On the main level you will also find two master suites complete with queen sized beds and full baths in each. The hallway adjoining the two masters has a ship’s ladder going to an upper private loft with four twin size beds and another amazing lake view. On the lower walk-out level of the home, you find two additional private bedrooms with queen sized beds as well as bunk beds or a trundle bed. You will also find another full bath, a large family room for adults and/or children to gather (more lake views!), and a mudroom with access to the oversized heated garage. Outside the garage is an outdoor firepit and a large lower concrete patio perfect for the little ones to ride their bikes on.
Our lake front has a pier for swimming and fishing and is well-suited for rental guests to bring a boat. If you do not have your own boat, we have a canoe and 3 recreational kayaks available to all of our guests as well as the option of renting our 24 ft. pontoon boat (14 person or 2200 lb. capacity). Our 32 ft. pier extends from a natural, rocky shoreline and is complete with a swim ladder and an excellent area for swimming. Our swim area has a hard sand/cobble bottom and no weeds. The water is 2-3 ft. deep near shore and 5-6 ft. deep near the end of the pier. We also have an Otter Island swim raft for your family to enjoy. Our property also offers some walking trails, an additional outdoor camping area with firepit, an outdoor swing facing the lake, a large hammock, and easy access to the Nicolet National Forest and other public lands with recreation trails for mountain biking, hiking, ATV, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Nearby you will also find beaches, whitewater kayaking/rafting/tubing on the Wolf River, golf, downhill skiing, and numerous family activities. Whether you choose to spend your time on the water or on land, we guarantee you will be able to create many wonderful memories you and your loved ones will cherish for many years to come. About John and Traci Elkin
Our family has always had a passion for the outdoors. We purchased the land our property is on in 2000 and camped on it for 9 years before building our lake house. Over the past decade, we have created many wonderful memories here and now we hope to offer others the same opportunity.
John and Traci Elkin purchased this House in 2009
Why John and Traci Elkin chose Nashville
We built this home with the idea of having several families stay together at the same time. We both have large families and we love having a place for multiple generations of family to gather or just getting a group of friends together to catch up and relax.
What makes this House unique
We fell in love with this property because of the breathtaking unspoiled views, the bountiful pine, birch and maple trees, and the peacefulness of this lake. We enjoy all seasons here doing everything from mountain biking, hiking, swimming and boating in the summer to snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter.

Great Place for a Group Away
The Elk Inn was a great house. We had a terrific time. It is nicely laid out, well stocked, and extremely comfortable. Would definitely recommend it!
It was everything that we were looking for.
The lake house was a perfect place for our family to spend a week together. The space was perfect for whole family gatherings and also alone time when desired. The house was beautifully decorated and well stocked. Lily Lake is a beautiful quiet lake. However, the dock(s) are quite a hike down a steep trail. Once you get there though, it is a great place for family fun time in the water. We would definitely consider going here again.
peaceful and relaxing getaway
We have rented over 10 vrbo homes and never have we had one that was so well stocked with everything and such good quality. It was such a relaxing and peaceful time with our 2 kids and their spouses and 2 grandkids. The house was excellent and so spacious, we had more than enough room, the beds were real comfortable .The pontoon boat was real nice as was the lake. This place is all it is advertised to be and a little more. It is a little downhill walk to the lake but we didn't mind as it was good exercise after eating all the meals we prepared in the well stocked kitchen and the nice grill at the house. You are truly blessed to own such a place. All 8 of us agreed that this is the place we would like to come every year. God willing we will be back. Thank you for sharing it.
We are humbled by such a complimentary review. Thank you so much for your kind words. You and your family are welcome back anytime. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Perfect house for a large group of people
I stayed at the Elk Inn for three nights with my husband and two young children. Another family was supposed to join us and was unable to make it at the last minute. This house is perfect for a large group of people. Can easily sleep 4 families. Kitchen is completely stocked for any cooking that you may want to do. The bikes, toys and games were perfect for our 4 and 6 year old. Owners are incredibly responsive and have a very well maintained house, very clean and has all of the amenities that you may need.
The house/lake/area was a bit more private - remote than I had anticipated, but that was my fault for not investigating the location a little further. This is the perfect house if you are really looking to "getaway" and enjoy quiet lake life. Don't plan on seeing people out on the lake as I think we saw two other boats out in the three days that we were there. One thing to know is that the lake is a decent walk down from the house and kids cannot be out playing near the lake without an adult as you cannot see the dock from the house. We tried to go to a few local restaurants / bars while we were there...not sure if Tuesday's are most commonly the days that these places are closed - but nothing was open when we went. We ended up at Wilson's in Crandon for an old fashioned drive-in experience fried food and ice cream.
Overall, it is a very nice property and home and perfect if you are looking for that quiet "up north" experience.
Beautiful house, well maintained and perfect for a large group.
We all really enjoyed our vacation at the Elk Inn. The house was amazing, very spacious and clean. The owners were gracious and very helpful, even giving us a boat driving lesson on the first day of our stay. Our kids loved the room with the bunk beds and everyone enjoyed swimming off the pier and swimming raft and off the pontoon boat. The lake is beautiful and remote, with two loons that are almost always in evidence and a bald eagle. It's a quiet lake without a lot of boat traffic, particularly during the weekdays. We met some DNR workers who told us that the lake has a lot of walleye, but we didn't have a lot of success at fishing. Apparently the lake was too warm by the time we were there and the large fish weren't biting. The closest town is Crandon, and there's not a lot to do there, but we did take a day trip to Minocqua which was about an hour and 15 minutes away. We also attended the waterski show on Lake Lucerne: call early to get reservations at the restaurant if you want to get a good spot! My parents and brother and his family drove 11 hours from Ohio for our vacation, and every one of them voted to do it again. We highly recommend this place.
Thanks for your review and happy to hear your family enjoyed their stay. We always love to hear that our place worked out well for our guests. Glad to hear you were able to enjoy some activities off-site as well. Thanks for choosing our home for your vacation!
Beautiful Home, Beautiful Setting
We have rented several homes from VRBO and this home was by far the nicest home we have ever rented. The house was very clean, large, comfortable, and well-stocked. I brought many of my own pans, knives, crockpots, etc. just because I have encountered many places that were 'advertised' as well-stocked, but weren't. The Elkins home was as advertised, well-stocked, including great kitchen knives. However, for five teenagers, and four adults, finding places to put food in the cupboards was a bit challenging. The refrigerator, was large and accommodated all of our cold items with little challenge. There was plenty of toilet paper for the week, paper towels, hand soap, etc. Just bring your own bar soap, shampoo and cream rinse. There was also salt, pepper, and a container of sugar. There was laundry soap to wash the towels as requested at the end of the stay and dishwashing soap.
The house is definitely well-suited for two families, with two large master suites (with full bathrooms in each) and solid pocket doors leading to the hallway that reduced the noise from the other bedrooms. The two bedrooms and full bathroom downstairs was well suited for our three teenaged boys and two teenaged girls. They enjoyed the Wii and other games downstairs.
The lake is clean water and large enough for water-skiing. Many days we felt like we owned the lake. The few fishermen we saw typically were out in the morning and evening. The boat ramp was large enough to accommodate our 22' deep V-Hauled boat, with a bit of a tight turn around at the top of the ramp.
Directions are excellent, but if coming from Antigo, we would recommend continuing on Hwy 64 to County Road S that will then merge with Hwy 52. The road is much smoother than Hwy 52.
The only issues we had were that the ice maker wasn't functioning, the gas grill had a regulator valve that wasn't functioning correctly so we couldn't grill (but the owner responded within a day or two with a suggestion of a way to fix it and it worked), and unfortunately, the alarm system chirped all night every 20 minutes or so for several nights. Those that slept upstairs were not bothered, but those downstairs didn't sleep well.
The home is wonderful, and it is obvious the Elkins have taken great care of it. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home! It was wonderful! We'd like to come back, but are hoping for better weather next time!
Thank you so much for your feedback. I'm happy our home and the lake worked out well for you. Our sincere apologies for the issue with the alarm; we did get the issue resolved through the alarm company. The ice maker is fixed and we did add extra ice cube trays in case there are any future issues. Thank you again for choosing to stay at our lake home.
We are located between Pickerel and Crandon, WI and are approximately 4.5 hours from Chicago, 3 hours from Milwaukee or Madison and 1.5 hours from the Fox Cities. Nearby towns include Pickerel, Crandon, Townsend, Lakewood, Wabeno and Laona. The Nicolet National Forest is only 1.5 miles away and the Wolf River State Trail is within walking distance, both of which offer numerous recreational activities. You can enjoy all of the Northwoods splendor without all of the crowds.
