About Mike Lawson

We have been coming to Kure Beach for years and bought an Ocean front condo in 2001. After several years we decided that we would rather be off the ocean with more privacy, space, and SHADE! We love the quaint atmosphere of Pleasure Island and the less commercial area of Kure Beach. Historic Fort Fisher is

just 2/10 mi from our house and the residential area ends there resulting in less traffic and a wonderful area to walk and ride bikes. We love to walk around the FF battleground with the Cape Fear River on one side and the Ocean on the other. This area of the Island is truly beautiful. We love taking the Ferry to South Port and eating lunch on the water at the Provision Co. (good food-good atmosphere). Sometimes we ride our bikes (only $2 per bike & just 1 mi to SP). We are fortunate to live only 2 1/2 hrs away in Raleigh & enjoy escaping to paradise whenever we get the chance. You will not be disappointed with 'BEACH HOUSE'.

Mike Lawson purchased this house in 2008

What makes this house unique

The main living area and the lower level rec room provides additional relaxing areas for all guests. Direct Beach access. Ample parking area. No neighborhood restrictions for boat parking. Nice backyard with lower level patio for grilling. Quiet street with very little traffic.

Family Wedding at Kure Beach

  • 5 of 5

We attended a family wedding at Kure Beach and needed a place for our family of 11 people to fit comfortably. This was the perfect house with more than enough room. There are 3 levels to the house which gave us adequate room for all 3 couples and our 5 grandchildren.

The house and grounds were in impeccable condition -beautifully decorated, clean and like "home away from home". The owner was extremely attentive and was genuinely concerned about our experience. He suggested restaurants & attractions in great detail to make sure our beach trip was good. Since we stayed only 3 full days, our time was limited to do everything we wanted to do.

The beach was only a 2 minute walk which was ideal. We did visit the Fort Fisher Aquarium (1 mile away), Kure Beach pier, the beach, and the grandchildren enjoyed playing around the shaded yard of the home.

This home was perfect for our family get away. We will definitely be coming back!!

Great Beach Trip

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful beach home! Mike was great to work with. His home has everything you could wish for in a vacation rental. The house is literally 2 minutes walk to the beach, but is set back from the main road, so it is nice and quiet. It was spotless on arrival. The house is very well equipped with more than enough cookware and utensils. Our party consisted of 8 adults, 4 children and a baby. We had plenty of room for everyone. A great time was had by all and we would definitely rent this home again.

Beautiful house, great location

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time in Kure Beach and we had such a great time. The house had more than enough space for the 6 adults and 2 toddlers in our party. The house was fully stocked and the layout worked nicely for us. So much extra space on the first floor with the 2 bedrooms, bathroom and the extra living room. The outdoor shower was great, especially for the kids after coming back from the beach. One of the best parts of the house was that there was a great deal of shade surrounding the house and yard, which was nice to come back to after being out in the sun all day. The backyard was a nice little retreat. And being on a quiet street and off the main road was just another level of comfort with having little ones but still a very easy walk to the beach. The house is in close proximity to the aquarium, the pier, restaurants, and the Southport ferry. Had a wonderful week!

'Beach House' vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this beautiful, spacious home with the lovely beach décor. We had 12 people in the house, including 5 children, and there was room for everyone. We loved the outdoor shower, particularly on the way back from a day at the beach with the little ones, along with the availability of a washer and dryer! Kitchen was well stocked with everything you'd need to prepare meals. The location to the beach was just a short walk, and we did take advantage of the restaurants and the carnival at night for the children, along with a visit to the local ice cream shop. Spent one day in Southport, enjoying the quaint and homey atmosphere of this charming seaside town, with the antique stores and unusual little shops; and the grandkids loved the ferry ride. It was a relaxing and comfortable home for us, and we thank Mike and his family for sharing it with us!

Great House, Great location!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful, well maintained house in a great location. Close enough to kure Beach pier, restaurants, Carolina Beach amusements, Fort Fisher, the aquarium for family fun. And right across the street from the beach. Multiple public beach access points to suit your needs. The house really did have everything we needed. A well stocked kitchen, convenient laundry, updated appliances... even a private outdoor shower! There are upgrades in furnishings that are not in the pictures. Nice surprise! There was plenty of room for 6 adults, 2 teens and 4 youngsters to spread out! Older folks can avoid to many stairs, entrances on lower and main levels. The owner Mike, was always accessible, very pleasant and helpful! We had a great time! Highly recommend!

Great House, Great Beach

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house, with plenty of space for 14 adults. The kitchen had everything we needed. I liked that it was in the quiet/secluded part of the beach. It was also very close to grocery stores, restaurants, Gas, and entertainment. Nice backyard, with a good grill, for outdoor activities. Mike was also very helpful and easy to get in touch with, for any questions.

Our group had a great time, and we will definitely keep Mike in mind for future trips!

A note about the beach: when we were there, (early July 2017) The steps from the public access point to the beach were being eroded by high tide. This would be difficult if you are carrying a lot, have children, or have trouble walking. There is another close public access point, if this concerns you. However, this did not take away from our beach experience.

Owner's Response: So glad that you liked our house and the quaint quiet area of Kure Beach and Fort Fisher. So sorry if access caused any inconvenience for you. We were there with our family the second week of June and access was fine. I did find out from friends that there was a noreaster that occurred afterwards that apparently caused some erosion. This usually corrects as Mother Nature brings the sand back.
