Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a tremendous time at the Squirrel's Nest for our 20th Anniversary get away. It was, only the 2nd weekend in 6.5 years we've had away from the kids, and the Nest made it worthwhile. Enjoyed hiking along Skyline Drive and one of the greatest meals EVER at Bavarian Chef. Thanks so much for the great memories, hot tub, and hospitality. See you next summer - the Nest is our favorite local get away! WOW

Didn't get to stay, couldn't even get out of car because of dogs and couldn't secure our property

  • 1 of 5

We received a message about 15 minutes before we arrived stating that the keys are not there and would not be sent until next day, which meant that we couldn't go anywhere because we would have to leave the house unlocked and not able to secure our belongings, plus when we pulled up in the driveway there were 3 dogs that came around us and we could even get out of the car and one of those dogs jumped on my new car! Asked for a refund and owner said no that the neighbors would put dogs in basement for 3 days!! Really dogs not going back out for 3 days! Owner even said that they have had problems with these dogs before! This is not a remote location and leaving house unlocked and neighborhood dogs invading our vacation not good! So beware unless you are willing to share your hot tub adventures or time on the porch be ready to share with the neighbors pets!

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

The place is so nice! It was very clean as well (thank you). We really enjoyed having the run of the property, including the hot tub and fire pit(S). It is so relaxing and quiet and only about a half hour away from Charlottesville where there is plenty to do. Linda was always available for anything we needed and we definitely will be back to stay again! Thank you!

Adorable Cozy Cabin!

  • 4 of 5

My boyfriend and I are long distance and we really wanted a get away where we could just be together without any distractions. The cabin was really well set up and decorated, there are tons of small details that really create a cozy cabin feel. We loved how open it was with all of the windows and sunroof, always surrounded by the trees and the stars at night. There are tons of movies and some games already stocked. We ended up renting one from a Walmart nearby as well so that’s always an option! The kitchen was great although it was missing some cookie pans and the frier pans were pretty small, but Linda was very responsive and told us she’s bring over anything we needed. We had an overall great weekend- the hot tub was a great plus and the neighbors dog came to visit us too!

The only things I would say that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the shower gets cold pretty fast and the DVD player could be updated (there were a lot of times the dvd would pause a lot), but we could have brought a computer with the movies downloaded.

Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Amazing little cabin tucked away with everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

The Squirrel's nest was absolutely great. The property is beautiful and maintained very well. The cabin is clean and cozy and perfect for a weekend getaway. We particularly enjoyed using the hot tub at night. I definitely plan to return to this cabin again for another great stay.

Hidden Treasure!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful mountain vacation home. It's perfect for 2 to 4 people. Very clean, cozy and delightfully decorated with a modern yet rustic theme. This private cabin is reasonably located near local shops, restaurants and wineries.

The property host(s) were very friendly and promptly replied to any questions we had.

Overall, it was a terrific experience and we look forward to returning again in the future!
