The access code provided to us in our Pre-arrival information packet did not work. Several calls to management office to get new code. Property not well maintained, pool was not heated as stated in contract. The pool and hot tub not cleaned during mid week despite calls to management office, hot tub had foam floating in it and pool had lots of sand in it. Bushes and shrubs over grown on steps and walkways. Rusty nails on back decking and pool fencing. Management office did send landscapers finally to trim bushes on Tuesday after I called them a couple of times. The cabinets and furniture were worn out and flooring worn out except for upstairs carpet was fairly new. The pictures were deceiving and house was small and shook when anybody walked especially upstairs. This house was over priced for what we actually got and compared to other houses in the area.

September 2018 Stay

We love this house! We stayed in it last year around the same time. The heated pool is always a hit with all of us and the beach access is awesome. Love waking up to the beautiful sunrise and being able to see a gorgeous sunset. Only issue we had was with the keyless entry but that was resolved quickly by Village Realty. Would definitely stay here again!

The outside of the cottage: grass and bushes were very overgrown. Does not make the outside of the house appealing. Looks like outside of cottage is not well taken care of. Inside: cottage was not clean at all upon arrival. Sand and dirt on floors. Looked like someone came in and changed the sheets and that was it. I have a baby that crawls so an unclean floor was not appealing. The location of cottage was great. But did seem overpriced when compared to cottages around it. Because of all this I would not stay here again.

We had never stayed at this property before. We were very happy with the room layout, as we had 10 people in the house ranging in ages from 4 - 81. The house was comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed. We used the outside seating, beach, pool and hot tub a lot. Our only complaint would be the tv's were difficult. There was instructions on how to turn on the living room system, but the upper bedroom tvs we couldn't get to function. The other issue was the grill. When the property advertised it had a grill, we assumed it was a gas grill. It was a permanently installed charcoal grill, which was small. The pool was fabulous. Half our party spent every day at the beach, the rest every day at the pool. We thought the house was a little overpriced compared to others in the same area during the same time period. But we made our reservations late and were left with few options. We may consider staying here in the future.

I am sorry to say our stay at crab cottage was not a good one! We arrived o Saturday and when we walked to the beach there was a 3 foot drop to get down to get downto the water. Next morning it was an 8 ft drop. My husband (a disabled veteran) and I could no longer go down to the water. I purchased the insurance but was told this was not covered! I paid $7000 and could only go to the beach 1 day! I feel we deserve a partial refund! Very upset!!!!!!!!

We had a wonderful week with our family visiting Nags Head. Crab Cottage is ideally located right on a beautiful stretch of beach and was just the right size and very comfortable for our group. Our only suggestion would be that some updating/cleaning/maintenance are really needed. The bathtub in the large upstairs bedroom has nasty looking black stains along the grout lines that regrouting would take care of. The jet outlets in the tub also need a thorough cleaning to get rid of the moldy looking stains in them. In addition, you should remove/replace the rusted shower caddy and shower curtain liner. The pillows in the bedroom were sadly limp and stained and should also be replaced. The dishwasher should be checked to ensure it is working properly (seemed to take a long time to cycle). Lastly please consider removing the ancient barbecue grill and replacing it with an up to date propane grill. Attention to these few, but significant things would create a much better impression when guests visit.

We had no problems with renting this beach front home. Village Realty has easy and friendly procedures and staff. The app is excellent and helpful! The Crab Cottage, though, was a bit below our expectations. Well equipped kitchen, but it could use some updating. No pantry for our food items and the kitchen sink was very dirty and gross! The floor is nearly impossible to keep clean, especially with the dirty broom provided and the outdoor mats and rugs were so caked with sand when we arrived that they didn't help at all. Mattresses were terribly uncomfortable in all rooms. And, the bathrooms were very nasty with dirt, mold and inadequate shower curtains. Nice new carpet upstairs and the back upper deck had beautiful high chairs to watch the ocean! Many light bulbs were burned out. The walkway to the ocean was great and the hot tub was nice. We definitely will call Village Reality but will try a different house.

we had a great week at Crab Cottage! the location was perfect. Access to the beach was wonderful. We were able to watch dolphins in the surf every morning for hours and go crab hunting at night! The sunrises were breath taking! Having a pool was a great bonus as the ocean was cold and rough most days. We enjoyed calling Crab Cottage home for the week. there were a couple of small issues, but Village Realty took care of them right away. We come to the OBX every other year and would definitely recommend using them.

This house was perfect for my 3 kids and parents. Easy access to the beach via a safe deck. It was very easy for my older parents to access everything. The pool and hot tub were very relaxing. Close enough to restuarants and activities but far enough from crowds. We had a great time! First time using Village Realty. Very happy with the experience.

WOW !!! Had a wonderful, awesome time!!! Crab Cottage is amazing!!! My family really enjoyed the pool an hot tub when they weren't at the beach. An we loved the short walk to the beach!! Thank you so much for such a wonderful house. An thank you Village Reality for the wonderful hospitality!!!!! Will be coming back next year, maybe sooner. Lol Thanks again !!!! Ohhhhhh I have more wonderful pics but I LOVE this view.!!!
