Why Ellen Colingsworth chose Salem
Our young families are in the area, so this is our home when we visit them. We chose Salem because of vibrant festivals and activities, the stunning historic environment and the excellent public transportation to Boston, Logan airport, and Maine. We hope you enjoy your visit.
What makes this Condo unique
We love this place because of the light filled rooms and the charming turn of the century features like the pillars dividing the dining and living rooms. It is convenient to all the things we need and enjoy. We've kept it simple and uncluttered to make it easy to enjoy during vacations. At the same time, we've chosen some special furniture and touches to make it feel like home.

Cozy condo in convenient location
We very much enjoyed our stay in Ellen's condo. The location is within walking distance to all Salem attractions, and Salem is a short drive to many other fun locations - we visited Gloucester, MA; Lexington and Concord, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Concord, NH; and Kittery, ME during our vacation.
The condo is very comfortable - 3 bedrooms (2 with twin beds and 1 with a queen bed), dining room, kitchen and living room - all laid out well. My kids enjoyed the wifi and smart TV during evenings. The neighbors are pleasant and I wasn't able to hear them often through the walls.
The kitchen is very well equipped. My family manages significant food allergies - so we do a great deal of cooking even on vacation. We were pleased to find that the kitchen contains everything from the basics to a lemon juicer and rolling pin. The only thing I could have used and didn't find is a set of tongs to turn meat or seafood as it cooks - but a fork worked just fine. There were even a few spices though I brought my own.
The washer and dryer are a definite plus - makes a longer vacation so much easier.
Ellen is very easy to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in this condo again in the future.
Tongs are a great suggestion and will get some for the condo. Thank you for the suggestion.
Charming condo within walking distance to all of the sites in Salem!!
Quaint and inviting atmosphere that was enjoyed by all. Location was perfect for site seeing in Salem, and that allowed us to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Rooms were all comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The kitchen was stocked with all the extras that you usually don't have in a rental, such as plastic wrap, seasonings, and cleaning supplies...because life happens. The property manager, Christine, was amazing! She was quick to respond to any question or concern that we had, and she passed all communications on to the property owner. She was certain to make sure that we had everything we needed. Our family would definitely stay there again.
Just like home!
Had every amenity that you would need at home! Close, convenient location! Can't wait until next year!
Beautiful property in the heart of it all!
The Condo is absolutely gorgeous. It's steps away from anywhere you want to explore in Salem. We didn't get into our car once the whole trip. The place had tons of natural light, beautiful and comfortable sleeping arrangements. Each room is equipped with an air conditioner. The dining room provided many fun dinner nights with the family. The upstairs neighbors are incredibly fun and welcoming! We can't wait to come and stay again!
Great apartment in a great town!
This is our second stay at Ellen's apartment--a great place! Love the special touches like the handmade pottery mugs for morning coffee, cosy living room chairs, and board games and books. Everything you need for a great stay is here, including handy washer/dryer in basement. The apartment is bright and quiet with 3 bedrooms--plenty of room for our family of 5, and our two dogs. Love that our dogs can vacation with us--took many walks around town with them--Salem is a dog friendly place.
Visited our favorite places in Salem---walked to Lobster Shanty, Flying Saucer Pizza, A & J King Bakery, Far from the Tree, the House of Seven Gables, Salem Harbor and Salem Farmer's Market, drove to Devereux Beach in Marblehead, and took the train to Boston for a day trip. We had an amazing time and are looking forward to coming back next summer. Thank you Ellen!
Location is key, as they say!
We stayed here for five nights as a family of four. The booking and check in process was smooth - the owner was accommodating even when I initially booked the wrong dates! It is an older place, but it suited our family's needs well and was within really easy walking distance to all the major Salem sights. We would stay here again.
The Peabody Essex Museum is world class. There are too many witch attractions to mention here! The seacoast is stunning. Easy access to Boston and Logan airport and Maine via trains or buses.
