About this property

Sun filled pool house with vaulted ceilings beautiful in ground pool and gardens

Peaceful log cabin apartment on 8 acre property. Beautiful gardens, fall foliage, and steps away from Atkins Reservoir and Robert Frost Trails. Great area for hiking and biking! 5 minutes from Amherst College and UMass. Close to Hampshire College, Smith College, and Mount Holyoke as well.

Our listing is Northeast of the campuses, which is awesome for high traffic travel times. Most people visiting these campuses are coming from the other directions.

Even though we are within 5 minutes of the Colleges and Amherst Center, we are nestled on the North side of Mount Boreas, kitty-corner to the Atkins Reservoir, and steps away from Robert Frost Trails. You will find yourself surrounded by quiet wilderness and only a short drive to everything else you need.

You have private access to the pool house/cozy cabin which includes entryway, main living area, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. In addition, you may use the deck around the apartment. Please enjoy the patio furniture we have provided. You will also have shared access to the pool area during the day (Last week of May through First Week of September). For safety reasons, we ask that you do not swim after dark. We may need to open the pool late or close early due to weather, schedules, etc.

The guest door is located halfway around the right side of the home (in a little alcove). This is your private entrance. You will be provided a keyless entry code before you arrive. This gives you the freedom to check in anytime between 3p and 12a and check out anytime before noon.

The bathroom has a walk-in 1 person shower stall. There is no bathtub available.

Some cell phone carriers have limited service at our listing. We have provided a landline that is available for unlimited calling in the US and Canada. You are more than welcome to share the landline number with those that you need to keep in contact with. Please just share your check out dates with them, so they do not call future guests :).

We also provide free WIFI, so you can connect your mobile devices for access to internet-based communication applications.

Free Parking in the driveway for up to two cars. Public transit is available with the nearest bus stop just over 1 mile from our location through the PVTA bus line.

Super friendly hosts - great space and refreshing pool!

Easy check-in, good local recommendations, very close to Treehouse Brewery and the pool couldn't have been more appreciated after a sweaty day on the course. The hosts were very friendly and helpful - they provided us with local doughnuts and spring water. A peaceful and clean property, would return!

Perfect weekend getaway

We stayed with Betsy for the weekend of Green River Fest and it was absolutely perfect. She is a lovely host, very responsive, and helped us with check-in even though we arrived late in the evening. I wish we were able to use the pool, but we just didn't have time! The house is on a beautiful property surrounded by gardens and although is attached to the main house, still feels very private.

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic long weekend at this property. The pool house was quite homely and spacious for two people. Everything was clean and provided for (cooking utensils, towels, etc). The pool itself was immaculate despite the bugs. Betsy and Jim were wonderful hosts. Very attentive but made sure we had our privacy. We will definitely return at our next opportunity. Wonderful hideaway near Amherst

We very much enjoyed the peace and quiet of this location, as well as the well-stocked kitchen and kind gestures (such as the bag of cider donuts on arrival along with some cold bottled water.) Heather was easy to communicate with and Betsy was wonderfully attentive and responsive. We highly recommend this cute little pool house, perhaps especially for a couple.

Totally Delightful

Our week-long stay in late June (2025) was perfect in every respect. The apartment, including the bed, is comfortable; and the kitchen is well furnished. But even with all of this, the best part was the outdoor space--the roomy deck with a large table, four chairs and an umbrella; the amazing clean and inviting swimming pool; the colorful, extensive, and carefully-tended flower gardens; the manicured lawns; and a large bird-filled forest behind the house. All of this--especially the generous and attentive hospitality of the on-site hosts--served as a balm for weary travelers from the most urban of settings (Brooklyn, NY). We plan to return next year at this time.

Nature filled and relaxing cozy cabin!

We came to visit UMass Amherst and had the most wonderful time at the cozy cabin. The accommodations were so comfortable! The host gave great directions to the property and even greeted us when we arrived. She also dropped off delicious cider donuts at our door in the morning. The Robert Frost Trail is very close to the cabin. We enjoyed seeing wild turkeys, deer and lots of birds. The cabin has everything you need to stay in and cook or just a short drive into downtown Amherst for restaurants and the Emily Dickinson Museum . I’m not sure if my daughter will pick UMass but I want to return to the cozy cabin!

Wonderful hosts!

Hosts were super nice and friendly. They keep a beautiful yard with lots of pretty flowers. I enjoyed talking to Jim about his restored car a lot. Location of the house is great. Interior needs upgrading. Bathroom linoleum is badly scuffed and needs to be replaced. A clothes washer and drier (not furnished on premised) would be nice along with a dishwasher and garbage disposal.The nice deck overlooks the pool would be a nice place to enjoy sitting during the summer months.. A nearby restaurant Betsy recommended had a nice casual atmosphere and good food. We liked visiting Amherst and meeting Jim and Betsy.

Awesome in Amherss

Beautiful property in a quiet area. Well-furnished private apartment stocked with sensible kitchen and bathroom accessories. A land-line phone is available if you do not get cell service and designated spots make parking a breeze. The pool was also great to have.

Such a great getaway Heather was extremely attentive when we were planning everything and Betsy and Jim were able to answer any questions we had over the weekend. Lovely!

The cabin was very comfortable and well-equipped. The pool was lovely - we swam every day. The location was great, close to lots of hiking trails. In particular, there was a reservoir just round the corner with a lovely walk around it. To be honest, there is nothing we would change. All in all, an excellent experience.
