We wanted a lake house where we could enjoy family time in a setting where we could also enjoy nature and have easy water access. The view was breathtaking. The house was clean, comfortable, & very well appointed. With9 guests (6 adults/3 kids) I was worried it would feel tight inside but that wasn’t the case. We had plenty of space & the layout of the house was great. We couldn’t all fit around the DR table but that wasn’t an issue w/ bar seating or outdoor seating. Kitchen had everything we needed. As noted in the listing there’s no dishwasher. At least you have a great view while washing. The layout of the house makes the sunroom a functional bedroom. It’s completely around a corner So the bed isn’t visible. There’s large seating area as a buffer room between the bed & other part of the house. it’s not curtained all the way around so it will get bright early! Grandpa took this room b/c he wanted to be up for early morning fishing anyways. The lake is Gorgeous, clean, good fishing, good for swimming. In mid June the water was cool for me but the kids swam every day. So much boating! This was the highlight for my kids. It’s an excellent location on the lake that made paddling easier. Water is close enough to house I could read on the deck and still see/hear the water fun. Enough space to give independence but only a few steps if needing help. 30min away is the CUTE coastal city of Belfast which gave us coastal Maine experience w/ lobster &shopping. 5 stars all the way!!!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It means so much to hear that your family had such a memorable stay and that the house provided the space, comfort, and lakefront experience you were hoping for. It was wonderful to hear that everyone—from Grandpa enjoying those early morning fishing trips to the kids swimming and boating every day—found something to love. We're delighted that the home's layout worked well for your group and that the close proximity to the water made it easy to enjoy the lake together while still relaxing on the deck. It sounds like you made the most of your visit, including a trip to beautiful Belfast and a taste of the Maine coast. Thank you for choosing our lake house for your family vacation and for taking the time to share your experience. We truly appreciate your kind words and would love to welcome you back for another stay!

Gorgeous lakefront home!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this lakefront home! It exceeded our expectations, which were already high from the photos! The house was clean and extremely well appointed, with every comfort that the host could think to provide. The rooms and beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of room for the 9 family members who stayed in the house. Having 2 full baths and laundry at a lake house was super convenient. Fair warning, the "sunroom" has windows in 3 sides, so if you're including that in your bedroom count be sure you're bringing someone who can sleep in full sunlight or gets up with the sun! The property is wide so we felt that there was a decent amount of privacy from neighbors when we were on the large deck or hanging out at the fire pit. The water was clean, the swimming area was large, and the water got deep quickly for swimming. The host allowed use of their two paddle boards, which we loved! We would happily return, and highly recommend!

This is a hidden gem. The house is beautiful and set up great. It is tucked away and in a great location that offered a lot of privacy. We really enjoyed relaxing with family and would definitely like to stay again. There is a full office on the second floor that we were pleased to find as we did do some remote work during our stay. The pond was beautiful, and our kids spent most of their time swimming off the dock. The water is crystal clear. Amazing experience, highly recommend.

We are a family of 4 who enjoy the Sheepscot Lake house with our girls and hope you all enjoy it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

Bald Head Island is a quiet private peninsula with woods behind you and lake in front. This cozy community is quiet and friendly and charming. We love the proximity to Belfast and Camden when we can tear ourselves away from the lake!

What makes this property unique

There are many lake homes that are too far from the lake or the lake is full of grasses and muck but not here. Sheepscot lake is crystal clear and lovely to swim in or paddle on. The house isn’t run down or dirty. It’s newly renovated with modern appliances and conveniences so you can feel right at home the second you walk in the door. This is our home away from home and we are happy to share it with you.
