This beautiful home was already the TOP pick on Cayman Island. Lori and I replaced everything from custom kitchen cabinets and granite counter tops to stainless steel appliances. Luxury memory foam King Size bed, 1000 count linens and Ralph Lauren towels just some of the simple pleasure we have provided for our guest to ensure you and your family have the best possible experience when visiting our home. We have also taken the same measures in our luxury condo VRBO 67179, and Summer Breeze VRBO 582827 all are beach front properties and only offer the best amenities. Located on a quiet cove amid lush tropical foliage, this is a perfect place for a family, romantic, girls or guys get-away. An open design Island House that brings nature and the island breeze indoors. The Island House, is only steps away from the famous Rum Point Beach where water sports, swimming or hammocks and seaside dining await. Why look any further, our properties have everything you and your family deserve when visiting Grand Cayman. We kayaks and bikes at no additional cost. We also offer discounts to car rentals, water sports, attractions and much more.

Island Sunset is a 2 story oceanfront town home located on a fresh new powdery white sandy beach. Get ready for a fabulous nocturnal spectacle with one of only 11 bio-luminescent bays in the world when kayaking at night!! A micro-organism lights up when you disturb the water, it's truly a sight to see and you can experience this right outside your door.

Island Sunset has 2 bedrooms upstairs with 2 queen and 1 king size bed each have 32' flat panel TV's with bathrooms en-suite, each bedroom has a private balcony with new comfortable furnishing so you can relax with your beverage of choice while enjoying your breathe taking beach and water view!!!

The living room has all new furniture including a 37' flat panel TV equipped with cable and premium channels, wifi and free calls to the US and Canada.

The kitchen has custom cabinets with granite counter tops with a stainless steel under mount sink and a custom over sized island counter top. All appliances are state of the art stainless steel and we provide full size washer and dryer for your convenience.

Enjoy dinner either inside with the comfort of leather chairs with a table that seats 5 or upscale casual dinning on the screen in patio with your exceptional beach view!! Our patio doors are extra wide and collapse into 3 sections so you can enjoy the Caribbean breezes while inside. We are confident that you will enjoy Island Sunset as much as our family and we look forward having you as our guest. Pack n Play or crib available upon request at no additional cost.

Christopher purchased this house in 2012

Why Christopher chose North Shore

Island House #16 which is now known as Island Sunset is located in the World Famous Rum Point. After traveling to the island several times we knew that this is where we wanted to spend our vacations. Now even though the house is in a premiere location we decided to totally remodel it, replacing just about everything including the kitchen sink. I'm confident that you'll enjoy it as much as we do!

What makes this house unique

breath taking views, bioluminescent bay, brand new kayaks and bikes, deep new powdery white sand private beach, huge pool, screened in two story lanai (patio) first and second floor.

Perfect place to stay on the island!

  • 5 of 5

We were two couples and stayed for 10 days and this condo was perfect. It is big enough and the two bedrooms/bathrooms are separate to give you privacy along with your own balcony. The unit is exactly as the pictures show, very clean and has everything you could need, we were missing nothing.

It was great to have our breakfast overlooking the cove in the morning watching fish play and a glass of wine at night.

Rum Point and Island house is the best place as far as we were concerned to stay in Grand Caymen, quiet, beautiful beach, lots to do and great snorkeling.

A few must things to do includes the free tour of the Bio Bay at night in the kayaks, simple breathtaking, never saw anything like this before.

Sting Ray City is a must, we took the catamaran and had a great day, they are beautiful and gently creatures, see the Crystal Caves and visit Starfish point.

We ate at the Italian Kitchen (very good), the Lighthouse, expensive but worth it (sit outside on the dock), lunch at Rum Point while enjoying the beach (good value and good food, drinks are not cheap) and dinner there as well (very expensive).

We would easily rent there again and would definitely recommend this condo, great place for a relaxing vacation!

The only thing we would recommend is a paddle boat rather than kayaks, but this is just our personal preference and be aware that the island is more expensive than other islands.

We visited George Town and Seven Mile beach, but truly could not wait to get back to Rum Point.....thank you for sharing your place with us!

This was our first visit to the Cayman Islands and we couldn't be happier that we decided to stay in Rum Point. We ventured down to Seven Mile and George Town, but preferred the peaceful serenity Rum Point has to offer.

The Island Sunset was just perfect for our family of six. We took full advantage of cooking breakfast and dinner, but ate lunch out most days at the Wreck Bar. The food was excellent and the kids loved the smoothies. We did go to Kaibo for Tuesday night beach BBQ. This was well worth the money spent. The band, Bona Fide-Cayman was so much fun, the kids loved it. We all danced and had a great time.

We also loved to go down to Starfish beach. The water is spectacular. We actually kayaked there one day from the Island House. If you do choose to do this, just make sure you don't do this on a windy day.

Snorkeling at Rum Point Beach was a favorite as well as nighttime walks to the Pier. We saw many stingrays, barracudas and other various tropical fish.

We would highly recommended staying here, unless you prefer a more touristy area.

Can't wait to come back some day.

Great week in paradise

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at island houses last year in the property next door, and although that house was good this property was far superior as it had been fully refurbished, it was very clean. The views are fantastic and it is perfect to sit out in the morning, relax by the pool in the day cook a BBQ in the evening. The only things that stopped us from scoring a five star was the main patio door from the kitchen to the lanai was hard to operate, the kitchen lacked a sharp knife, proper wine glasses and BBQ tools. We would definitely return though.

mixed review

A beautiful condo, great location, friendly, relaxing place on the quiet side of the island. We would definitely recommend this rental. Our concerns were minor but they were unneeded annoyances. The first night the property manager came over to greet us and gave us some wonderful pointers for our stay. She noticed that we were a party of 4 adults and asked about the bikes and offered to bring us another adult bike the following day as well as lighter for the tiki torches. A gracious offer and insightful but it never happened. The kayaks leak and many of the handles are missing, back supports/seats are broken. They were usable and we did every day. Many light bulbs were burned out and some were replaced while we were there but about half were not. Outside shower head was missing upon arrival, was replaced on day 7 of 10. We called three times before getting in touch with the property manager, she called back once while we were out but left no message as to when to best contact her. The front door has a solar powered light that does not work, this was also brought to her attention and is still not working as we leave. Fortunately we had bright moonlight to open the door when returning from dinner. The local calls phone sometimes requires a pin number which was included in the information of the rental agreement, unfortunately I did not find that until later in the week. The light between the two bed on the night stand only shuts off from the wall switch located near the door. Most of the things are VERY minor but annoying none the less. I'm sure these small items will be taken care of in time and not reason at all for not renting this unit. The area, the island, the condo all are wonderful. Of note is the traveling distance for food. The nearest full service grocery store is about a 40 minute drive one way.

Owner's Response: Jose, I appreciate your review and I agree with you sometimes it's the smallest things that can be annoying. Lori and I strive to have our properties up to our standards when our guest arrive. We do ask guest to report items immediately to our property manager to make sure she can have things fixed. If a prior guest didn't report a breakage it's difficult for our team to schedule repairs. I was very upset that little things were not found prior to your arrival. We have since fixed these issues and have implemented a new checklist system for our team to cover prior to new guest arriving. I'm not sure why our property manager offer to bring different bikes to our home for your use as we can only provide what we have, she would have been taken bikes from her own house in an effort to accommodate your needs, it was a nice gesture however she fell short on her delivery and I apologize. I'm glad to hear that your overall experience was great and you and your family had a wonderful experience.

We loved Cayman Island, and could not have picked a better place to stay. Island Sunset was perfect for my husband and I and 3 teenagers (2 girls, 1 boy) the girls stayed upstairs and our son stayed on the couch. We all slept easily, the beds were very comfortable. The house provided everything we needed. The lanai was perfect for evening games and the screens kept the bugs away. We loved taking the kayaks out on the cove at night and even got to see the Bioluminescence the day before we left. Snorkeling was most enjoyable, its the first time my kids went snorkeling and they loved it!! Biking to Starfish Point was a perfect way to start our morning. We loved our location by Rum Point, it is so close and a perfect setup for all our needs. Reading on the hammocks with a slushy is the best way to spend a breezy afternoon. This place is very homey and had a special nook for all of us to go to for down time, alone time, quiet time, etc. Sitting out by the cove, floating on a raft at the pool, lounging on the lanai, sitting on one of the upper balconies - just perfect.

We ate lunch at Over the Edge once and dinner at Rum Point Restaurant both were very nice. It is expensive to eat out, so we bought groceries at Hurley's on the way in and made most our meals which was wonderful. The kitchen was fully equipped even had a muffin pan for blueberry muffins!

Stingray City was incredible the kids really loved it, my husband couldn't get enough. The stingrays were so friendly and my kids never stopped smiling (lots of great pics). We also visited the Botanical Garden which was beautiful - all the colors, the geckos, the iguanas, parrots, banaqui, and so much more!! We also enjoyed sitting at Rum Point in the evening and watching the sunset, breathtaking.

We highly recommend this stay and hope to return to this exact spot again. Our oldest is off to college this year and this vacation was perfect for bringing us all together for a quiet, enjoyable, beautiful, relaxing, bonding time. (Also a big thanks to Mitzi for accommodating our need of a couple more bikes. She was very helpful.)

Wonderful! Wanted to stay longer...

  • 5 of 5

I have been to Grand Cayman, Bahamas, St. Croix before this trip. I am very particular about my accomodations.... It costs a lot of money to go on a vacation and I want to feel like our money is well spent....AND IT WAS!!!

The first two nights on Grand Cayman we stayed at The Marriott. It was awful! The rooms smelled, the beach was small and the water was not what I remember from 30 years ago. I was so disappointed....UNTIL we got the this condo! The location was AWESOME! The condo is a short walk to beautiful Rum Point Beach! It is also a short ride to Starfish Beach (which is also gorgeous!) The best feature is the Beach Bar! It wasn't rowdy or crazy...It just added atmosphere and plenty of refreshing Pina Coladas and Mudslides, as well as smoothies for the kids! The chili fries were so good! And the prices were much more reasonable then anywhere else we had been on the island.

The house is perfect for a family of four. Each bedroom feels private, so mom and dad and have their own space....Loved the doors that opened to the Lanai! How awesome it was to open up the entire downstairs to fresh air and it was all screened in! Loved the upstairs screened in decks, also. Beds were comfortable and bedding was white and new and wonderful! Everything seemed relatively new and in great shape. Shower pressure was even good. It was very clean. Better than ANY hotel!!!

Kayaks and bikes are a great feature! Kayaks on bio bay at night are a must!

A few comments about Cayman Island, itself:

I have never felt unsafe on Grand Cayman. I cannot say that about the other islands!

You'll find much more of a selection at Hurley's!

Limit your dining out! I wasn't impresssed with a single meal we had! There's a lack of fresh veggies offered at the restaurants. You WILL wait atleast an hour to be are now on Cayman Time!!!! We ate at Rackams, The Marriott & The Edge.

Snorkeling is not what it is in the Virgin Islands! Instead of driving to a bunch of different beaches to try snorkeling off shore, I highly recommend the tours! We used Fat Fish Toursr jetski tour. We went to Sting Ray City & Star Fish Beach! Well worth the money. My 17 year old loved driving the jetski! We wished we had organized a boat tour to snorkel a few reefs but by the time we tried we couldn't book one!

Stay atleast 5 nights!!!
