Charming little cottage with an amazing view.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. The cabin is small and quaint but perfect for what our sneak away stay. It’s right near the ferry so you can walk to the restaurants and little store. The view is so amazing we sat out on the deck and just decompressed. The bed was a fold away yet surprisingly comfy. We read in bed by the fire and watched the storm roll in. Great kitchen and shower. Sheila was really sweet and accommodation and let us play with her dogs which made us so happy. I will definitely go back and stay there again.

Adorable Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

The place is in a fantastic location, walk-able to the store and the cafe, and the owners were very sweet and welcoming. The studio has an amazing view of the water, it's peaceful and private. It is equipped with all the necessities you would need. You can walk to the cafe right down the street where the food was awesome. The only issue we found was the smoke detector in the living room/kitchen is quite sensitive. There is a gas range and even with the downdraft on full blast the alarm would go off. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed the property. Sorry you had an issue with the smoke detector! That is a first :) Maybe the gas stove was hotter then you were used to? I did see that food in the fry pan obviously had been burned at some point. I hope you will return, we enjoyed your stay.

Lovely little spot to get away to. Very helpful owners. My only complaint is that I wish I'd stayed longer!

Lovely place right by the ferry

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I have never been in that part of Washington. Sheila is very nice and had the house ready for us way before our check-in time which was great. Sheila informed us that the little store has only limited groceries, and we were surprised to find fresh cookies and bread at the store. We did some research on the Lummi Island but did not realize that there are only 2 places to eat - Willow Inn and Beach Cafe with limited hours. It would be nice to have a folder at the place with the following info: Listing of the local stores/farms, like Full Bloom Farm where you can buy fresh veggies and fruit; the local fisherman, Lummi Wild, etc. The house was lovely, clean and right by the water. I am looking forward to come back and ride the bikes, visit the local library, the local farm and Beach Cafe. Thank you!

Owner's Response: Well Anita I am glad that you found our property to be lovely, clean and right by the water and that you appreciated the early check in and the bikes which allowed you to explore the island as you came without a car. Also hope you were happy with the extra help I gave you concerning a request you made for a massage person prior to your arrival. I did tell you that the Islander Store is a convenience store and that you would be advised to purchase the bulk of your grocery supplies prior to arriving on Island. Glad you liked their bread and cookies. I will continue to advise guests of that as they will NOT find fresh meat, fish (other than the occasional time when the appropriate fishing areas are open) and also fresh produce which is lovely here when available, but again, seasonal and will not supply everything you would need. We do have information in place to show you the various hiking options available on Lummi Island. I do appreciate your suggestion of a brochure describing the various things which may be available such as restaurants, etc. Again those places are not consistently available so one should not depend on them. The Willows Inn is wonderful and is a destination restaurant for people from all over. However you must have a reservation there beforehand and it is very expensive. The Beach Store Café is right near us and has a delightful menu and is often open on weekends most of the year but does vary in it's limited open days and hours. Another restaurant, the Sauceburger Stand, again close to us, is open very spasmodically, usually on weekends during the summer for breakfast and lunch only. Thank you for visiting us and for your suggestion.

Perfect except for one thing

  • 4 of 5

This little cottage was clean, beautiful and perfect in every way except for one major thing...the whole wall is a sliding glass door with no curtains. Even though it's facing the water and there's not likely to be anyone out there, it is pretty close to the owner's house and we really felt a lack of privacy. There is a sheer curtain on another window that faces the owners' home. I'm sensitive to light and it was also very hard to sleep with lights blaring in from across the water, and with the sun coming up early it's impossible to sleep in. We stacked the couch cushions on top of each other against the window to try to block the light which was minimally effective. The owners are very nice, and I would stay again if curtains were added.

Owner's Response: I'm so sorry you found the cottage to lack privacy. Certainly there is a wall of windows on the water side over the lovely view. And there are fine curtains over the side window which also provides an amazing view. The cottage is set well toward the water from the main house and we can NOT see into the cottage. We make a point of giving our guests complete privacy! I agree, it is bright with all those windows and the 3 skylights. We don't find the lights across Hales Passage to be a problem ourselves. However we will NOT be putting curtains on the water side to obliterate that view. Interestingly only 1 other guest in all the many who have stayed here, found that to be a problem. I am so glad you liked it here otherwise. Perhaps if you decide to come again you should bring eye guards which would solve your problem.
