About the property

Oceanfront 4 Bedroom, 5 Bathroom, Handicap Equipped Vacation Home

The Tern Inn is the perfect way to spend your vacation with family or friends.

This beautiful, pet-friendly, 2-story home was created with your family and friends in mind. We have a custom-made, ten foot dining table that easily seats 14, two separate sitting rooms with cable television and DVD players and private baths attached to each of the four bedrooms. We have over 35 windows that offer beautiful views of the ocean or Intracoastal Waterway so you can relax and enjoy the view from anywhere in the house.

We are also one of the few handicap equipped homes on the island with an elevator for easy accessibility and a full-size handicap bathroom with fully equipped shower.

You will fall instantly in love with rocking in the chairs on the back deck while taking in the breathtaking views of the ocean that have made Holden Beach one of the most popular family beaches around.

We have stocked our home to help you forget about the busyness of life and fall in love with kicking off your shoes and getting back in touch with fun and relaxation. We offer a library of books for your vacation reading downtime and boogie boards & sand toys for the kids (ok, the adults too). You can even come straight off the beach to the private outdoor shower and picnic area on the ground floor.

We love our beach house and we think you will too. For larger families or groups, consider renting our additional oceanfront property 'Sandcastle' (VRBO # 442909) next door.

Loved this House!

  • 5 of 5

I wrote a long review yesterday on Home-Away too but see it didn't post? We just spent a week at Tern Inn! What a Lovely LARGE beautiful home on the oceanfront in Holden. Decorated so lovely and the elevator was so helpful with our 12 year old Yellow Lab Cody. Leah our Hound Husky is 4 and had no problems doing the steps to the BR's and 2nd Den upstairs. The long huge deck has many many wooden rockers and a large picnic table. I was hoping for a lounge chair or two to sunbathe up there but we didn't have any. They also don't have low beach chairs but they have camp chairs to take to beach. The kitchen is very large and has all you need for your vacation. The dishwasher made some noise so we didn't use it and Debbie knows about it. The BR's need plastic hangers instead of wire ones but she is aware of that too. They just dredged the beach and shell collecting was so much fun. We got all kinds of large Welke's and many other type of unique shells. The island was sooooo quiet, we had the whole beach to ourselves. We went to Calabash One afternoon shopping next to the delicious Boundry House Rest. Also went to dock and bought huge shrimp and grouper fresh and cooked at home. Great prices. Seafood Barn has great LUMP crab cakes. Go to Lighthouse Gifts back over bridge on right in a small house. Cindy has the most unique stuff there. Loved the Tern Inn house and hope to get back to it again someday. 70's and sunny all week too. Enjoy this GREAT HOME!

Our First Renting Experience!

  • 5 of 5

What a joy and delight our family had over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Our family beach home on Oak Island sold after 30 years and we wanted to start new beach memories. How lucky we were to have found Tern Inn. A beautiful home, great views, wonderful amenities, but the best part was our 2 year old beagle got to enjoy this holiday with us!

We will certainly return and continue making new family traditions.

A Tar Heel Family in Love with Tern Inn

  • 5 of 5

For the past few years, my family has had the distinct pleasure to share our much-needed family time at Holden Beach in this lovely home, Tern Inn. We have been coming to Holden Beach continually since the mid-1970’s (guess I am giving away my age). Far and away, this is the perfect home for us – and as you might expect, we have tried many!!!! Its feel is that of a home and not a house! To say we love it is an understatement. We have chosen Labor Day week as the time for get-togethers and it is already on the calendar for next year!!! In just the few short years of staying in Tern Inn, we have already planted so many new seeds in our collective memory garden. Next year (2017) will give us some new opportunities for planting and this will be highlighted by a new addition coming from our youngest son and his wife – a beautiful granddaughter!!!! We are appreciative of the opportunity to stay in this home and cannot wait to get back to Tern Inn and Holden Beach!!!!! Guess now we will have to check to see if there is a baby bed there!!!!!!!

home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This was my first stay , with my 3 sisters, and their family pets. This home was very comfortable, spacious, fantastic views, everything A+. We made so many new memories during out stay. The week was over before we knew it. The owner was so very refreshing and wonderful to work with . i hope we can come make this a yearly "sisterhood" gathering place.

A great family vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

We all love Tern Inn! Sitting on the deck in the rocking chairs taking in the view is so relaxing. The house has everything you need plus more! We enjoy cooking and the kitchen is very well stocked. The bikes, sand toys and chairs are in good shape and makes for less you have to bring from home.

Returning visitors

  • 5 of 5

We have now stayed at this beach house for a 2nd year in a row and booked the 3rd trip for next summer immediately upon our return. This house is clean, comfortable, spacious, and well equipped. The owner is wonderful to work with. She is always prompt with her responses and organized with the paperwork. The house is located in a great spot and the beach was just perfect. Can't ask for a better beach or beach house for a vacation!
