Big Porch Cottage-peaceful farm, animals and room to play - reviews say it all!
NO EVENTS. NO PETS, due to the unique situation of farm activities and farm animals present, no outside animals are allowed for their own safety and the safety of our farm animals. As our reviews reflect, we work hard to make the cottage clean, inviting and a place to make lifetime memories. Whether you are traveling with several family members, a group of friends, or only a couple - we know that you will find relaxation on the big porch rocking chairs or around the fire pit. There is just something so amazingly peaceful about watching the hens and cattle going about their leisurely lives of grazing and resting. The property has plenty of room to toss a ball or frisbee; play flashlight tag, chase fireflies or catch snowflakes on your tongue. There is a cornhole board and bags set for outside and board games for inside. We have decorated the cottage in an inviting, comfortable country theme. There are books and inside toys for the children to enjoy (if you can ever get them inside). The kitchen offers everything needed for your stay. With two separate round tables and bar stools, you can all enjoy a sit-down meal in the house - or a picnic style meal in the pole barn which is lighted with strings of clear lights. The master bedroom has a queen sleigh bed, large walk in closet and a full bath. The south bedroom has a queen sleigh bed and a twin bed with antique dresser. The north bedroom has a unique door-headboard, queen bed and a twin bed with beautiful views of the hay barn. The south and north bedrooms share a full bath and walk in closet. The living room has TV with cable and DVD, seating for 10 and lots of floor space to play games. There is also a game table in the living room. The kitchen/dining room is very spacious with beautiful oak table/chairs and an island with bar stool seating. The kitchen is fully furnished with stove, oven, side-by-side refrigerator with water dispenser, dishwasher, microwave, coffeepot, blender, dishes and cookware.

An amazing stay! The Big Porch Cottage was so beautiful & cozy. So much room for my little ones to run around, beautiful pavilion for outdoor play & the front porch was so relaxing. Miss Tammy was so accommodating & helpful. 10/10, can’t wait to book another trip to Chattanooga just so we can have another stay.
My family enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, kitchen fully equipped, bathrooms had everything we needed, including a hair dryer and shampoo and body wash in case we forgot those items. Communication was great, seriously a wonderful experience. A nice yard for throwing a football or frisbee. Bonus were the cows, and even the calf who came close to the fence for us to see. Great location, peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. Thank you so much for sharing your space with us.
This place was so welcoming and cozy. Our host made sure we felt right at home. The kitchen was well stocked and having cows to view right on the side of the cottage was a nice bonus! We will definitely be back!
The home was very clean and nice. The location was great. The owners were very nice and helpful, they told us of some places that we didn't know about.
Tammy was a great host. I went away with my family and the place was perfect. We were in the mountains for peace and quiet and still close enough to down town Chattanooga. We seen deer every morning sitting on the big porch drinking coffee and also had the cows come up to us and lick us. Just was perfect. The Big Porch had everything you needed compliments of the host. I will definitely be back.
Beautiful property with serene setting. Great place for larger families with all the amenities you could ever want. Having a larger family the well stocked kitchen was an extra plus since our family does not dine out. Close proximity to hiking spots, trails, amazing views, and Chattanooga.
I stayed here with my groomsmen the night before my wedding. Tammy was very polite and congratulated me on the wedding when I spoke to her on the phone. Hanging out with the cows while having coffee in the morning was tons of fun. The cottage was very clean and spacious, and staying there was very pleasant.
Property was exactly as displayed in the listing. Tammy was excellent to work with and helped us in anyway she could. We enjoyed staying at the house and having all the comforts of home. Great location for catching some waterfalls.
We had a great time at this property. Thw atmosphere is peaceful and there is plenty to do in the surroundinf area. Then host was fantastic and very communicative.

Thank you for taking time to post a review of your stay. We are thankful that you chose our property, and thankful for the great condition that you left everything. Please visit again sometime and find even more fun activities and relaxation.
We enjoyed our stay at the big porch cottage! Tammy was a very kind and gracious host. Our kids loved seeing and feeding the cows, as well as playing with some of the toys in the cottage. My wife and I loved relaxing on the porch in the rocking chairs and swings. Definitely some windy, mountain roads to get there, but cell service and WiFi worked well. Not the place for you if you’re wanting more modern/upscale amenities, but it provides all you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Very spacious home, with great hosts. Great porch/deck for sitting and relaxing and great land to be able to enjoy outdoors a bit.

The porch was worthy to be used in the cottage's name! I love to take a break while cleaning, just to rock/swing and listen to the birds, or maybe catch a glimpse of a turkey family or maybe a rabbit. Thank you for choosing our cottage. We hope you can visit again sometime!
Perfectly located for our trip to Lookout Mtn in TN & GA! Peaceful and beautiful

Nice place out in the country. A little drive to everything but that was ok! Cottage was nice a clean and owners checked in on us often to see if we needed anything! Kitchen well equipped and plenty of towels for use! Outside the craziest of softball, we had a wonderful stay! Thanks for having us!

Thank you for the 5* review. We are glad that you had a great time, other than the softball outcome. We appreciate you choosing our cottage. Good luck in the next tournament!
Amazing property and location perfect for larger families, especially with younger children. From the beautiful drive up the mountain to the wall plugs throughout the house, this is the perfect place to stay if you’re visiting the Chattanooga area, or simply want a vacation out in the country side of beautiful scenery. We will definitely be returning!

Tammy’s farmhouse was a delight! The grounds were groomed and inviting. The farmhouse itself was extremely clean with a well appointed kitchen. The porches capture the breeze, making it a relaxing place to just be. I love the pavilion/barn area. The lighting gave it a cozy feel. We were 100% pleased with our stay.

About the host
Hosted by Tammy Henderson
Our names are Steve and Tammy Henderson. We live and raise cattle, chickens (for eggs), apples and a garden on this 40 acre farm. Steve also works away from the farm, but we enjoy being here for most of our spare time. Since offering the rental cottage, we have been blessed to meet many wonderful people from states near and far. We enjoy answering questions about the farm animals. Please call Tammy if you have any questions. 423-240-6433.
Why they chose this property
This farm was originally owned by Tammy's parents. We built our house here shortly after we married and have lived here for over 39 years. The location has been very convenient to schools and jobs, yet offers a peaceful retreat from the hectic city life.
What makes this property unique
Guests to our cottage most always comment on the wonderful front porch, 8 ft x 50 ft with 8 rocking chairs. The fresh mountain air and peacefulness seems to melt the stress out of your body and put a smile on your face. Sunsets are beautiful from the porch or the pavilion. We have a barn-wood pavilion out back where families can spend evenings under twinkling lights and play corn-hole or other games or enjoy a picnic. One of my favorite places in the cottage is standing at the kitchen window looking out at the big red hay barn. There are often cattle, chickens and guineas in the pasture by the barn.
